Is Aria of Sorrow the best Castlevania game ever made?

Yes. Yes it is. I made the mistake of playing this before SOTN and SOTN felt like a piece of fucking trash by comparison.

SotN is still the best IGAvania for me personally but I'm a classicfag. I still legitimately don't understand people like this>>11866432 anon. Those GBA games feel like SotN-lite in every aspect imaginable, they just don't feel as good to actually play and the presentation is a downgrade for obvious reasons. Like... how can you even think that SotN is 'a piece of fucking trash' even if you prefer Aria to it?

You DID reach the garden via sequence breaking rather than waiting for the ability to walk on water, right? Don't tell me you're a casual.

not him, the soul system is fantastic and complements the exploration formula perfectly. The presentation is much stronger as well dracula's next life vs dracula's "cool" son
SoTN is just an inferior super metroid with rondo stuff on top. I don't think in metroid or SotN at all when playing Aria.

Not an argument, pajeet. Game is pathetically easy and the level design flatter than a loli, to the point where it's mind numbingly dull to play. The crap graphics and music don't help at all.

CotM would be the one sole exception, for evident reasons. But Aria just falls short of SotN on every aesthetic level, which I also don't find all that great to begin with. It’s a low-budget sequel where they distilled some gameplay ideas. Also the game isn't even SotN-level easy where you are broken, but just plain easy where nothing aside from two bosses gives you challenge no matter what.

Maybe. I really liked Portrait and Order though. Playing them all in a row they start to blend together though.
I'm a Classicvania chad anyway. Super is my personal favorite though you can make arguments for Rondo, I, III, Bloodlines...etc

I had good memories of Portrait, but I hated it on replay. Biggest thing I remember is the levels were tiny, the aesthetic wasn't as good and the gameplay was meh.

SotN felt kinda like a mixed bag. Aria was more consistently good.
SoTN had better music by far, though.

Well, it's miles better than Harmony of Dissonance and those are the only two GBA games that were approved by IGA.
So yeah, it's clearly the best Castlevania for the Gameboy Advance.

Ignoring that's not what he said, who cares about what that fraud might think? He's not the authority in this series.

It's the best GBA Castlevania, but it's not even as good as the Julius mode from it's sequel.

Is that a rivalry? I like AoS and HoD equally even though AoS is the one I had as a kid and HoD is the one I played way later. They're both peak GBA in different ways for me.
It's CotM that's the misbegotten stepchild.

That's why it's the most like the NES trilogy, which was done at Kobe.

Ya. Tight level design and showed restraint with no mirror world shit. Just a nice straightforward experience. Too bad they turned it into anime shit with the sequel.
