Why is Sony imagesoft and early Western PlayStation so disrespected?

It was just merged with other studios. Before the ps1 era it was just a mediocre publisher anyway.
Early western Playstation is Psygnosis and it is recognized and respected.

People don't really give the western branches enough respect in general, they are important to give a console a foothold in a country
The difference between the Genesis and Turbografx is a good indicator that you can have tons of Japanese dev support but if you aren't cranking out sports games and other stuff to local tastes you won't catch on.

For standard fare eurojank, I really enjoyed Bram Stoker's Dracula. Hard, but fun.
