I'm catching on the handful of Mega Man games I had never beaten and this is really good.
I'm coming off Rockman & Forte and EXE WS on Wonderswan which were both bad though so it benefits from the comparison

NGC Battle & Fighers was also okay, a couple of good fights. I don't remember if he was in the og Battle & Fighters games but seeing Napalm Nam drive around using his chains and using his shoulder pods was pretty cool. They really fucked him up in the NES MM5.

I've been playing MM Xtreme 1 and it's quite good as well; I like the "8 bit demake" approach to recreating X levels.

I've played all of the Mega Man platformers except EXE WS and the DOS games and honestly the Xtreme games are among the weakest ones. I'd say that X5-X7 and Rockman and Forte WS are worse but that's about it. Xtreme is still enjoyable though unlike those

You might as well play EXE WS while you're at it, especially if you've played the GameCube EXE platformer. At least make a single playthrough (the game works in such a way that there are multi paths and you have to do several playthroughs to see all levels and unlock all the transformations). It's not any worse than WS & Forte. Just avoid Pharaoh Man, he's a pain in the ass.

Oh shit I haven't played that one either. Completely forgot it existed. Maybe I'll give both a go but I don't remember what put me off

I understand that sentiment.

>I don't remember what put me off

Off is what put you off. Lot's of small things are off, and they pile up.

Sucks Mega didnt get a Sonic Pocket Adventure style NGP game with the battle mode as a separate section.

Xtreme 2 is good. It's mostly interesting for the new mechanics from the PS1 games they added to it, along with new weapons for X and a playable Zero, but even some of the stages are cool, like how some of them are redesigned and the X3 bosses are less braindead here. The fortress bosses are mostly worthless, but the new Sigma fight is cool for making use of the character switching and having a lot of attacks.

Not OP but I think X5-X6 are pretty good too

Use charged Ray Claw on this boss, it deals high damage and fires on its own, so it's better than other weapons. The Hyper Charge or Ultimate Buster parts from the shop can help (halved charge time or all shots are charge shots), but both of them have high prices. Use Barrier Extender if you aren't already to have longer invincibility frames. It's a very annoying boss, but it's easier with those.

>Rockman & Forte WS
I actually really liked the WS version. The platforming could get quite challenging, but it never felt unfair. The only thing I didn't like was Mega Man's dumbshit walking pose and animation.

>Exe WS
This one was also kind of fun, but it had some pretty glaring issues. Definitely less consistent and intentional than R&F

Really, you finished almost all of the 60+ Mega Man games? I'm making my way through the series and they're fun but god damn if there isn't way too many of these games.

Holy shit. I've beaten like 40 at most and I consider myself to be a pretty big fan of the series. Never touched Battle Network or Star Force though

Rockman & Forte - Mirai Kara no Chousen Sha (Wonderswan)
>>11870097
I can understand liking & Forte WS in a "so bad it's good" kind of way but that's about it.
The bosses and enemy designs feel like, they took those robot monster concepts they got sent except they picked the shittiest ones and used them as is instead as having them improved by actual artists. I also dislike the constant i-frames on the bosses and having to "guess" when you can actually attack them but it's not like it matters much when you barely need to fight and you can out-tank them especially once you get the armor upgrade.
The level design is also kinda bad especially the lack of thematic consistency, and also

>slide under spikes!
The level designer apparently thought this is the peak of entertainment

I found boss invulnerabilities only really an issue with a single boss. It's definitely much better than some other MM games (8 comes to mind). I never really cared much about the bosses in MM though. For me, it was all about the level design, and I found the levels challenging enough that they were enjoyable. Didn't notice any issues with thematic inconsistency. Everything made sense visually

Such a weird game, love the sprites in this one but the fact it's a black and white game from 1999 makes it feel completely out of time. I first played it on an emulator when I was in school and the emulator couldn't accommodate for the screen switch so I could never play through the vertical stages. That was with learning how to play it on keyboard too.
