Chrono Cross doesn't really have a twist. It has a reveal, but it isn't really a twist since the story wasn't seemingly building up to something opposite to that

Several, in fact. The one most people have a problem with is the reveal that all of the main characters except for Rinoa were all in the same orphanage as kids and so they knew each other, but almost all of them forgot because they started using GFs upon joining a Garden, which has the side effect of losing memories. Irvine never used GFs and so he remembered everyone from the moment you recruit him, but he never said anything about it until the big reveal because no one seemed to remember anything about their past and he thought it'd be a bummer if he was the only one who did. Also, the big bad up until that point was their Matron at the orphanage.

Is that really a twist? I've always seen it as more of a reveal

You might debate the first part on whether it's a twist or simple reveal, but I think the last bit is definitely a twist, in very much the same sense as the Vader twist. The actual reality of the twist is later turned into a reveal, of course.

You're the kind of person who would mentally shutdown if you found out the world was just a simulation huh? It's real to you now, but if someone told you it weren't it would fry your npc mind. Shocking how many people didn't actually comprehend the point of the plot twist. I guess Descartes isn't for everyone.

The game basically hit you over the head with cogito, ergo sum and people just thought it was derivative of the matrix at the time.
