It's fine. It's not really badly designed, but since it was designed to be a really entrylevel introductory game, it's also a very easy game.
Honestly, it's a well made game even, and it has nice graphics and great music, but the fact that it's so easy makes it offputting to some people, and I get that, but you literally were not the target audience.
Arguably, the design intent of Mystic Quest was kind of misguided, but it advertises on the fucking box to be welcoming for beginners, what else would you expect?
>>11870960If you have ever played any JRPG or similar kind of game before, such a say, Pokรฉmon, you should be able to easily beat this game in maybe 10 hours of play at most. It's extremely easygoing and forgiving, and there's really not that much exploring or side stuff, getting stuck is unlikely.
>>11870970>It's also basic and restrictive.Good way of putting it, the worldmap is even on rails.
As far as babby's first JRPG goes, Pokรฉmon mostly did a much better job with better world and gameplay.
>>11871023It's competent, but very easy. There's no real bad design anywhere, it maintains its design and production quality from start to finish, which is to say that things are overall decent. Playing it for one hour should give you an idea on if you'd like to play the rest or not, and either way you'd come away thinking the music was good.
