Why are there so few new fun racing games? Back in 2000's racing games were everywhere.

There's a fuckton of new fun indie racers still being released. AAA racing is dead, the fans have to bear the torch.

What are expecting on /vr/, advertising new games released by major publishers for platforms released before 2001? 99% of new games released for them are indie.
