What the vehk did you just say about me, you little n’wah? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the The Fighters Guild, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on the Imperials, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in Morag Tong assasination and I’m the top marksman in the entire Tribunal armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the vehk out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before in Nirn, heed my words. You think you can get away with cursing me and my palls from Oblivion? Think again, fetcher. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of Morag Tong across the aurbis and your plane is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, kwama. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re vehking dead, Scuttlehead. I can ride my silt strider be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just in unarmed combat. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the Tribunal and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of Mundus, outlander. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” curse was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your milk drinking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you gods damned s’wit. I will shit CHIM all over you and you will drown in it. You’re banished from this starry heart, sera.

Feels so good to be an imperial chad waltzing in and mogging and cucking those racist dungmer and saving their butthurt asses.

You hear that, elves? Your prophesized hero was me, Biggus Dickus. Now get back in your mudhuts and leave the worldsaving to a real man.

anyone else think it's weird they pronounce the "n" like "en-wah" instead of just "n'wah" like your saying noir in a jersey accent? i dunno it just seems more correct to me

You still are a second rate citizen forced to obey dunmer customs. Morrowind has only a token Empire presence and zero influence on anything. And this is hammered in many missions where Imperials have to join the houses to not get the Jobasha treatment.

i wish he got to finish it so you could side against helseth
you can tell theres that subplot with the whole hlaalu king who got offed by helseth, and you can even kinda prove it, but it just goes nowhere and you cant do anything about it

I tried playing morrowind straight for once. no exploiting the spellcrafting or enchanting or alchemy systems. no doing retarded repetitive shit to optimize stat gains on level up.
I was still basically a god by the time i hit level 40.
God damn it I love this game.
Anonymous No.11876738 [Report]

yea minmaxing is the least necessary thing to do in MW, out of all TES games, even
always blows my mind how many ppl ruin it for themselves by rolling redguard puremage and counting skill ups like autists. shit sucks, and by like lvl 20 you can hardly feel the difference
>oh no i only have 300 health instead of 500?
>oh the horror
i cant imagine how ppl get into that mindset for single player RPGs
for multiplayer games it at least makes some sense why a meta would develop eventually even if it usually is rly fuckin gay and unfun. but for an open-ended game like MW? ridiculous. let alone one thats as ez as MW is

You do get strong when you level up, yeah. When you also understand how the game works its easy to optimize without even trying to powergame.
Crank up the difficulty I guess, and try to go more for aesthetics than actual stats as a way to downpower yourself if needed.

>>11877043
If you want to, there's many methods, but as said, you don't NEED it.
Anonymous No.11877339 [Report]

I agree, it's not needed, but it is the first thing a lot of newbies hear about, so of course they're inclined to try it

>Crank up the difficulty I guess, and try to go more for aesthetics than actual stats as a way to downpower yourself if needed.
oh, to be clear, I wasnt complaining. I love the feeling of power you can attain in MW, it's why it's my favorite TES game. I just never realized that it's guaranteed to become an epic hero of legend even paying no attention to optimization. I never really abused the fortify intelligence exploits or anything but I always minmaxed stat gains on level up before this run

what's a really fun combo of major skills? gonna start a new character tonight. I'm thinking something with speechcraft and hand to hand.
Anonymous No.11878205 [Report] >>11878542

Just going with all stealth skills could be fun. Everyone should try limiting themselves to the basic archetypes at least once. Plain thief, warrior, or mage.

yeah, i'm thinking of a sneaky silver-tongued type. maybe Speechcraft, Sneak, Security, Light Armor and some combat skill for majors. I wanna do Hand-to-Hand as a major combat skill, just seems like goofy fun. Maybe Marksman instead, idk.
I wanna join the thieves guild and also just steal shit and make coin. Maybe not even do the main quest this time, who knows.
Anonymous No.11878670 [Report] >>11878683
>>11878542
Protip: start out with as high as you can with Speechcraft, Sneak, and Marksman. Class specialization, race bonuses, spend gold early on training those skills. High Agility and Personality. Having a low level on those barely works, and you'll have a better time if you start out competent.
Anonymous No.11878683 [Report]
>>11878670
yeah, low sneak is fucking painful. never played a Marksman build though so I didnt know that was just as bad. appreciate the tips

hamd to hand kinda sucks desu
its cool as a backup, but annoying as the main source of attack
youre just stuck clicking like a zillion times, so its more of a pain in the ass mechanically; but its simultaneously too OP from the stunlock/knockdown effect, so it isnt really that fun either
its only fun if you have some other spell/enchant to btfo their fatigue or buff yourself alongside it. then its just really overpowered and silly since you can often times just knock dudes out in a single punch

>>11878691
ngl, that's what i'm going for actually lol. Just a goofy combat skill

If I wanted to use OpenMorrowind, do I just add the game files to its directory like any other sourceport/port kind of thing, and would it be able to use mods made for the original .exe?

No, you just point to the game's folder. Regarding mods, some work, some do not, it usually depends on the mod's usage of MWSE.

followup question, pros/cons of openMW?
obviously mod incompatibility could be a big con

You could do Illusion, a 30pt calm spell lets you use intimidate on hostile humanoids and permanently pacify them. I played through the entire game as a mostly peaceful Agent who just talked their way out of everything.

It changes NPC spellcasting priorities and behavior. In its latest iteration, I'm not sure by how much. The biggest "pros" are easy installs for things like smoother animations and diagonal movement. There's also some "missed animation cancels" for when your attack misses but I don't know how to disable this.
>obviously mod incompatibility could be a big con
There's a lot of OpenMW exclusive mods, too, and the type of mods vary.
Anonymous No.11879042 [Report]

Pros - it doesn't crash, has QoL features that original doesn't have out of the box and requires MCP.
Cons - incompatible mods like you said. Other stuff like missing dialogues, spell priorities, summon behavior were never proven. There is a sperg in those threads who makes up shit about OpenMW. Ignore him.

I personally find specializing in a certain weapon type but exclusively using bound weapons is a neat way to play
i.e. rolling up a spear specialist who doesn't carry any weapons but instead casts Bound Spear at the start of combat

r8 autism
i got 2 characters, both trying to be a rogue and either hlaalu and/or thieves guild because TR

first one is no fancy tricks, just a plain old rogue. male/female doesnt matter since bosmers stats are the same tho you should only be a male bosmer if you enjoy being 3ft tall. the women are normal-sized. spear is for flavor, but id probably just use a cheap devil spear from that khajiit in balmora if my cover gets blown
Anonymous No.11880813 [Report] >>11880874
>>11880807
second one is a more magical breton rogue
sneaking about and using illusion/alteration to disappear/fly away if needed. only uses bound weapons and armor
im leaning towards this one desu
illusion kinda sucks at first glance, but its actually decently powerful if you combine it with moderate to high sneak skill. even just like 10-20% chameleon and youre almost invisible

In that case Illusion is a must. Going raw Sneak without Illusion to back it up is simply not a good idea.
Anonymous No.11880986 [Report] >>11881076
>>11880874
how?
sneaking is quite literally only usable with some sort of illusion spell or enchanted item effect
until you get to like ~50 in the skill, it simply doesnt work by itself. youll be spotted 100% of the time because of how often it rolls for checks
Anonymous No.11881076 [Report] >>11881152

Because that character can handle anything with conjuration and marksman. Add in levitation and invisibility and you'll never be in any real danger.
I recommend making sneak a necessity, so it will be more engaging and not something one forgets about 2 hours in.
And illusion can do both sneak and speechcraft, too.
Even swapping alteration to levitation potions (buying or alchemy) would be more interesting

That said, it's best to do what feels fun for you.

yea idgaf ive already done a straight rogue/diplomat with literally zero magic. i think that was my last character, in fact. i did a bunch of the new thieves guild stuff
im doing an illusionist cuz i wanna try the new mainland MG stuff. swapping short blade for blunt too, so i can use really shitty staves with annoying enchantments on them

>that character can handle anything with conjuration and marksman
u dont know me
im using throwing weapons. specifically, those wacky AoE ones from that basegame plugin
the conjuration is for armor, and maybe summoning a scamp as a distraction
