I fail to see what makes it any better than playing on PC.

It's too dark because they accidentally turned Shadow Mode on in the code, so the only way to properly play the game is by using a romhack. And no, Limited Run didn't fix this in their shitty overpriced "collectible" print
Kinda defeats the purpose of the port if you need to do that.

Is there any benefit to playing this over the DOS CD version? Are there any differences?

The loading times ruins the pacing just a bit and pauses the music. The music was sort of an upgrade since I originally remembered it with Yamaha OPL2 from a Soundblaster, but it was not worth the cuts/restarts from the aforementioned loading.

I had no idea. I always thought it was because of the color limitations the system suffered from throughout its time.

it looks good enough, and the different sound track is also quite good, tried it recently on scummvm on the ps2.

>CD-Rom version on PC
this version uses the recorded MT-32 cd soundtrack only there are no other options for OPL, that one reason i'd say no, i have 2 versions of the cd version and for some fucky reason the music just wont play, so the better option is the ultimate talkie, otherwise the original dos floppy version with an OPL sound card, a C-media 8738 sound card is a dirt cheap option for a 1:1 clone of a yamaha OPL3.

or is you have a modded playstation2 with ScummVM it will run the floppy version, ultimate talkie, and mega cd versions perfectly.
