Did anyone get the wrong impression of him when he was originally introduced?

I thought he was supposed to be like Lan's bully but Lan was a better netbattler than him so he could win in cyberspace but Dex would be an asshole to him in real life. It didn't immediately click with me that he's just an arrogant kid but otherwise on decent terms with Lan.

There is a game where a BATCH FILE can apparently house a human soul somehow, you might be overthinking it.

I didn't think he was Lan's bully, just the hardheaded classmate who likes to smash and is stupid.

in the show he was introduced as such because lan didn't originally have megaman. all he had was a basic model navi that he was either too poor or too unskilled to upgrade/customize himself.

I thought he was the bully but started respecting the MC after he started saving everyone.
