Honestly, I liked it. It's a decent enough time killer.

There's worse on the NES alone, for sure. I didn't particularly care for it, but by NES standards it's hardly the worst.

>>11876961
I think that's too hyperbolic. I get maybe not liking Roberta William's school of game design, but they did more kinds of games than just those.

> but by NES standards it's hardly the worst.

This sentence doesn't make sense considering the NES standards are the best standards there ever was.

I only played this game briefly as a kid with my cousins. I don't remember hating it, and looking back on it, it doesn't look half bad. I might give it another shot. The overworld music is nice and creepy

I literally don't like her games, you faggot.
The SWAT games owned, however.

>>11877938
My point is more that while you could certainly do much better than Jaws, the NES also had plenty of much worse to offer.

It's a great game if you force yourself to play Atari 2600 games for a week, I suppose. So that's fair. You have a good day, op.
(The movie sucked eggs)

No I don't. Jaws 4 sucks, which is what the NES game is loosely based on.

It's pretty good, but the final battle is pretty hard. Thankfully, I guess, it doesn't take too much time to get back to it and try again.

Yeah I love the 1975 original. The NES game isn't supremely terrible not gonna lie, but it could have been better at that point in the console's development.

By modern standards this game is actually pretty good. The whole "grind upgrade repeat" gameplay loop was ahead of its time, shit's basically world of warcraft.

A lot of the action gameplay is basically a shmup. If they'd varied the underwater backgrounds and added more interesting enemies and movement patterns, it would probably be better remembered. The Bonus Stages are actually more than a little similar to the bonus stages in Galaga, only you shoot from the top instead of the bottom.

It's a lot easier to rationalize this when you're playing it for free on an emulator instead of paying 40 dollars for it in 1980s money.

Not untrue, but for the sake of argument someone could easily have found it in a clearance bin or at a fleamarket in the 90s or 2000s and paid maybe 1 or 2 spondolacks for it.

I'll agree with you that this is not a game worth its full retail price, that would make its mediocrity far less tolerable, but I'm thankful enough to not have paid for it.
