the whole “Everdrives and ODEs fry your consoles” nonsense is just that: nonsense. Let me break it down for you so your crusty misconceptions get wiped clean.

Everdrives and ODEs are carefully engineered devices designed to mimic or replace original media without stressing your console’s hardware. They draw about the same power as a standard cartridge or disc drive. If anything, ODEs reduce mechanical strain by removing the fragile spinning optical drive altogether. There’s no magic electrical overload here; these boards run on the same 3.3V or 5V rails your console’s circuitry was designed to handle.

The fearmongering about “fried consoles” comes almost exclusively from either:
>Cheap, garbage knockoffs with no quality control,
>People botching installs and frying their own hardware by miswiring,
>Or the natural aging death of old hardware (which would’ve happened regardless of what you plugged in).

Console failures every decade or so are the norm due to old capacitors, degraded solder joints, or dust buildup. You’re gonna lose consoles whether you use original carts or Everdrives, that’s just electronics aging. Blaming a well-made flash cart or ODE for that is pure plastic hoarding chud logic.

If you want to keep your systems alive, buy legit, quality Everdrives/ODEs, follow proper install instructions, and stop being paranoid basement dwellers who cling to cartridge dust like it’s holy relics.

Flash carts actually prolong the life of consoles by eliminating physical wear and flexing from changing cartridges, and it's worth getting one just to access romhacks

look, i hate collectorfags as much as the next guy, but my EZ Flash Omega sucks up my GBA's battery life.

Not op, but this would be amperage as opposed to voltage. I barely know what I'm talking about admittedly, but voltage is like the potential amount (3.3 or 5 volts) that can be handled by the circuitry similar to a river and the rate in which the water flows, and amperage is the amount of electrons that is delivered (power), kind of like the amount of fish in The river that feed a village. So that cart is within spec of voltage, but it is demanding more amperage which drains the battery faster.
Hope that analogy made sense.

actually it comes from collectors who don't know anything about the technology and repeat FUD from over 20 years ago
