Anyway Paprium playable on Everdrive is gonna be cool.

>Still uses the audio file workaround

It's cool that it's running on Everdrives now even if only because this means it will likely be supported on my MiSTer soon too as it uses a similar FPGA chip, but I am not really interested in these half-measures. Wake me up when they actually get the sound hardware working and don't have to rely on audio files ripped off the soundtrack CD to have music in the game.

Reminds me of when you needed graphics packs for games like Far East of Eden Zero or Star Ocean in ZSNES to bypass the compression chips before support for the chips themselves was finally added. IIRC those only lasted a few months before the emulators were able to do it without the need for the packs anymore. Hopefully fully cracking Paprium and getting it's music working natively won't take another five years.

Like >>11879839 said, Fonzie pissed off everyone so much that pretty much everyone who would normally be in support of indie devs has turned on him and are basically encouraging people to pirate the game now. I have only seen a single literally who French dude defend him on YouTube... and that person's own fanbase tore him apart in the comments for doing so.

I remember Krizz used to be against supporting Piar Solar on the Everdrive, but has since added support. I don't recall if this was simply due to Piar Solar becoming old enough so piracy would not effect it as much anymore or because of this incident but he clearly does not care for Fonzie anymore, which is a sentiment just about everyone in the retro/homebrew community has shared for a while now.

>>11879882
>Yeah, considering he raised $895k to do a digital console release and hasn't delivered, fuck him.
The dude had TWO kickstarters, one for the physical release that he insisted would only work on a real Genesis and would not even boot on clone consoles (which is a stupid move) so much so that even some people with a real Genesis had trouble getting it working (for the small handful that got a copy), was in dev hell for years and when people were getting angry he had a "party" to show it off where it was barely functional with no enemies or anything to do, and then had a SECOND kickstarter where be promised finally a digital version where nobody got ANYTHING. Dude talked big, took a million dollars, then disappeared.

He blacklists anything that's considered "new", as in released for a console after it's met end of life support and was put up for sale by the developer or publishing partner. Of course he can't actually block any game that just werks, but if there's some anti-piracy measures put in place then krikzz isn't going to try to circumvent it unless there's practically no other way to play the game anymore.

Stole money.
Circumvented kickstarter payment process.
Gave influencers free copies first.
Black epoxy inside carts which leaked.
Lied about digital release.
Made another fake kickstarter.
Stole money again.
Lied about chibi game gear version.
Insulted other MD indie devs.
Argued with factory causing no more prints to be made.
Had a tier system where the more you paid the better chance you had of receiving your order.

The guy was an absolute shit.
The game itself is MID at the very least. Yes it has nice big sprites but everything else about it is just bland. It feels like an unfinished game because IT IS an unfinished game which was rushed out for release because they were upsetting backers with their excuses.

The x2 hidden characters are shit especially electra.
The main 2 guys are garbage.
Alex should of been in a bunny girl suit - this alone would of added sales.
The entire games world is stole from the anime Cyber City Odeo 808. Yet because Fonzie is a hack theres no story behind the game and what you are told is crap. This is apparently due to the game being rushed out and story content cut.

They could of made the main guy a raincoat wearing detective while the other guy could of been a half robotic wrestler

The music is just loud or terrible and doesnt fit at all.
All the enemies are cheap copies of other enemies from other games.

This game wont be remembered for it being good or special. Itll be remembered for the dev being a shit, the other devs never stepping up to fix his mistakes, scamming people out of money, customers never getting orders and it being known as that game with the bad rep.

All for what? A game which plays like a shitty snes title such as rival turf but without any effort to put a story in

Probably to feel "Maximum authentic 90s" or some shit, I mean, did you read the rest of that crap? Also I would not call umping useless, since apparently you can completely break the AI by doing nothing but jump kicking.

I know it has a bug where some pillars in a subway have no collision detection, but AFAIK it's not a buggy mess, just not that great. People have been saying that it's unfinished state resulted in cut content like a story. But yes, Fonzie deserves all of this. i've done some programming on snes. it's not as complicated as people think it is. hardest part i found was understanding the audio coprocessor. thankfully i never had to code my own driver, just upload an existing one with my music data to the spc. if you can program a nes or c64, you can prorgam a snes easily yet i don't understand why snes hasn't attracted more demo scene/homebrew activity

They are infamous for taking months to literal years from taking your money until they finally ship something
They were caught re-releasing 3DO games for $70 and when people opened it they were just a burned CD-R and not a pressed disk
They at first tried to deny this/sweep it under the rug as not an issue but were forced to relent
Their higher ups were caught saying something along the lines of "they will never open it to check anyway"
Their release of Risky Revolun for GBA had clearly recycled chips that appear to be very old and were likely taken out of other games/devices instead of purchased new
They at first tried to deny this/sweep it under the rug as not an issue but were forced to relent

Probably other things I forgot too

It's been a pattern of LRG constantly taking forever to actually ship out orders, being caught cutting corners while they charge high prices, and then trying to deny it. Dosen't help that they have intentionally built their entire service on the concept of FOMO. It also doesn't help that they tend to be the only source for a physical release of many games, likely try to buy up any license they can for anything digital. They have recently been buying licenses for even known shitty games that are a meme to sell those too, for a high price, such as Plumbers Don't Wear Ties.

Knowing him, any actual response if he hasn't just fucked off with the money forever, is more likely to be wankery about tech that doesn't exist and why his arbitrary setup can't just run digitally.

The Switch version he promised, if it ever materialises, should be trivial to data mine and emulate unless it happens to use some edge case implementation that needs a proper developer to look at.
I doubt the PC release would be hard to crack either.

There's been several indie games that have used it , as well as big publishers putting it on budget games, S-E even put it on a free game.
Also, does this really seem like something someone as unhinged as Fonzie wouldn't pull?

I remember the saga involving Pier Solar on the Dreamcast. It was crowdfunded and finished, but there was a gap of several years between the end of development and the game being released. Basically fonzie disappeared into some urban chinese jungle for 3+ years while everyone else involved is sat at the office all of that time apologizing to backers while saying they can't get in touch with him and they have no idea what's going on. As much of a clusterfuck as that was, he did eventually make good on what was promised.

Still not as bad as that bald guy Falco Girgis who got $200,000 in funding for his game, spent it all on drugs and a hair transplant that didn't work and still wormed his way back into the community as if nothing ever happened. Complete garbage of a human being and so is anyone associating with him.

Timestamp on the SRAM reads 2011 week 24. The flash chip is by Spansion who hasn't existed as an independent entity since 2014 and although Cypress (the company it merged with) still sells the chips, they were built on 90nm process that was used between 2003-2005, so it probably reached end of life a long time ago. The Altera I'm not familiar with but google says the MAX 3064A was discontinued by Intel in 2018 with last orders shipped in 2017 (see Intel notification PDN1620) so I'm pretty sure you can't get newly made ones today.

>those are newly produced flashcarts based on opensourced designs.
Right, someone made a new PCB, awesome. The chips are still 20+ years old, retard.
Now I'm not arguing that they won't still work (these chips are made in huge quantities then stored in warehouses for decades), or that they won't work as they did when new. But you can wax on wax off as much as you want, it's still gonna be old stock.

That was a $200K Kickstater for a port of a game he had delivered on before... somewhat, the Kickstarter comments for that are full of people complaining they did not get anything or that they had backed at some expensive tier that was supposed to include many extras and got none of them. So no, he didn't "make good on what was promised"

This time he took a million dollars, from two kickstatarters, and delivered a handful of faulty defective carts to bunch of YouTubers and people who backed at ludicrously high tiers, nobody from the second kickstarter got jack shit.

You seriously think he's going to reappear and suddenly fulfill every promise?

From what I understand he was claiming it was going to use some super ultra mega special proprietary godchip but if I understand correctly just about all the chips are stock, the are mostly used for copy protection, and all it has special going for it that can't be done on a stock Genesis is the music, which could have been done if it was a SegaCD game anyway. Plus the game even has a fallback mode that uses the Genesis's sound hardware for music, though that does sound worse.

I think he claimed the game also has special features that let it use the additional hardware on the SegaCD for better enemy AI and something called a "Megawire" which I think was some kind of netplay capability. There is what appears to be some sort of jack/port on the top right that was likely meant for that, but I have no idea if it even works at all or does anything, same for if that enhanced AI think even was implemented at all.

Fonzie seems to love trying to make his games optionally use the SegaCD, when I was messing with the ROM I noticed that some emulators were trying to access SegaCD hardware from it even though it's a Genesis game, and with Pier Solar if you have a SegaCD the game had the option of letting you put the soundtrack CD in it and play the game with enhanced music off the CD.
