Seriously though, boomers must've thought children were nuts for being obsessed with something called "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles".

way better than in the UK, calling them "teenage mutant hero turtles", because for some reason the british government is racist against ninjas

I beat it for the first time last month. great game, if you stock up on scrolls in the first map you can break the game somewhat, also stocking up on boomerangs in the last map if you run low on the scrolls.

As a kid Raphael was my favorite so it made me happy that the cover had 4 mean looking Raphaels.

Kinda the point. It proved the appeal of weird and somewhat random ideas in a time where stuff aimed at kids was much more generic and by the numbers.

Obviously then the inevitable happened and execs tried to make a formula out of it. In the nearly 3 decades of hypercapitalistic children entertainment marketing that ensued, the notion that a formula for originality instantly defeats the purpose has never truly sunk in.

Not quite, it was right wing moral panic. You can thank Thatcher for that. Like you can thank Thatcher for literally anything that has gone wrong since.

>Hey we don't want to "censor" your stuff or anything and we're hardly against foreign cultures but can you change a couple things so kids don't idolize spy/assassins and build their own highly imitable costumes and simple weapons they will inevitably hurt somebody with (most likely themselves in the case of nunchucks?). It's just that we're in a time in History when there's active domestic terrorist groups in a number of European countries and they literally wear masks and also we're still dealing with the fallout of wars that didn't conveniently not happen in our own continent.
Bruh that's definitely right wing moral panic stupidity. Why were moral panicky right wingers so stupid? Imagine right wing moral panicking this hard.

Why? One of their icons is James Bond, ironically.

I could get to the Shredder as a kid but could never beat him. That gun he had used to fuck me up big time.
