Nothing. The Saturn was doomed day one. The PSX sold more in a month than the Saturn did in a year. If you really wanted to alter Sega's fate, you'd have to time-travel back to 1991 and stop the Sega CD, Game Gear, and 32X from being made, all of which were huge failures that burned retailers and customers. Then you'd have to convince the Saturn development team that the future of gaming is 3D and stop them from developing the Saturn as the ultimate 2D machine as it was originally conceived (despite Sega already making 3D arcade games as the Saturn was in development). To put it simply, Sega was retarded, and the success of the Genesis was a fluke.

Finally Saturn is saved. Sega kept all its good games JP only. This is why it failed.

I'll be optimistic and say that they'd see a small bump in sales from early weebs and arcade nerds but it still wouldn't be enough to beat the N64 outside of Japan and wouldn't even matter to Sony. I love the Saturn but it's a failure no matter what you do.

Probably nothing, as I'd still get them. However, I vaguely remember Sega of America asking their 3rd party developers to stop releasing shooting games on the Genesis as they felt there were too many during its time on the market, so I don't think they'd go for even more on the Saturn. From your pic, I realize I don't have the Macross game nor Fantasy Zone. The latter I can pass up on but is the Macross one any good?

I don't think it would help a whole lot but I feel like if sega just stuck to it's 2d guns the saturn would have, if nothing else, felt more distinct which would give it more of a niche. Though that's also decades of hindsight and far removed from the actual environment it came out it. I get the whole 3d hype train and why publishers would want to push that.

And where are you getting that figure from? The two were pretty close until 1996.
