What's with chicken games being utterly bizarre? I played Mort the Chicken on the PS1 as a kid and had repressed the memory until Pizza Tower brought him(her?) back

I win. Don't even pretend you've played any Coleco Adam games, I already know you're lying.

A friend got a cd-rom drive in 95' or so and this was the first game that we played. I was completely blown away by the graphics and cinematics. It sold me on cd-rom tech and nagged my dad to get me one for years.

On my parents old Mac (early 90s) I used to have a game where you would produce and market your own movies. You would focused on managing a budget, but included the ability to pick actors and a director. The end goal was to get your movie to rank in amongst the other top ten well known, best selling movies.

The way the game worked was that you set budgets for your movie, putting a certain amount of money into marketing, and what not, and then released it to the masses. As the weeks would go by, your score would be determined by how much of a net profit (or loss) you ended up with.

It was non-graphical and ran in a windowed mode with gameplay akin to something like Dope Wars. It was well done and surprisingly fun to play.

Anyone know this game and what it was called?

Control configuration, high-difficulty in a damn tutorial mission and lack of video settings/support for modern anything will keep this under the radar. It's a shame. But I don't mind being the only person who played it because Outwars is AWESOME

I played the shit out of the demo, and also got it when it was Abandonware. It's really fun - the jetpack mechanism is really cool to just jet about with, just make sure you mess with the mouse sensitivity when you first play.

Chickens are a horrifying consciousness
Dipping your mind into the chickenverse is worse than Lovecraftian, worse than Kafkaesque
Its a pure absence of any thing that a human could call sanity or calm

Back in 2003 when i got my first PC, the computer guy who helped setting it up at home, installed two games on it. The first one was "Global operations", which was a silly counter strike ripoff, and the second game was about catching cows. If i remember correctly, in that game you were flying around in a helicoper (2D isometric perspective), trying to capture runaway cows with different contraptions. To this day, i cant find it, or anything that at least resembles it. I'm 100% sure that it exists and it wasnt a fewer dream.

1C is like Microsoft of Russia. They hold a monopoly on accounting software market in the country and that's the real source of their profits. In 2000s they were the largest publisher of foreign games localized in Russian language and many local games were published by them as well, until the 2008 financial crisis crippled the PC game dev scene in Russia, forcing most companies to turn to cheaper mobile games. Afterwards they merged with their biggest competitor SoftClub (which notably had publishing rights to EA games) to become the undisputed leader on Russian game publishing market.

I played this one when it came out, bought it on 2CD and it sucked. It was kinda hyped back then in Ukrainian videogame zines. Dunno what I expected. Maybe it's fun to play it now as a slavjank curiosity, but back then there were tons of actually good games coming out constantly.

I got that cover, shame the game is very buggy and I kept having to restart/reboot the levels to get further plus the enemies inflict huge amounts of damage on you very quickly with few health pickups, I had to enable godmode to get even halfway through it- nice idea with the exp system, for destroying enemies and exploring but then you'd explore all sorts of nooks and crannies and not get any exp at ll so it sort of defeated the point
>>11881623

I think Starforce bricking CD drives is just an urban legend, but it did pioneer the invasive, resource-hogging, malwareish DRM back in the time when it wasn't the norm yet. And yeah 1C was one of their biggest customers.

Omega Boost, a Mech game "By the creators of Grand Turismo" was expecting an epic Mech sim like Armored Core, instead it was a hard as balls space shooter. I remember being so disappointed but the opening Scene was pure 90s and probably better than the whole game lol.
