Do they hold up at all? I know Warrior Within is edgy, but I swear nobody has had a Two Thrones conversation since the game came out.

WW has the best combat and OST
TT Is a nice send off to the trilogy with cool setpieces and SoT fanservice
I miss this era of ubisoft

Two Thrones is good. Nowhere as good as Sands of Time, but it does have plenty of platforming segments in which you use the chain to swing or bring out platforms. There's stealth kills, which is unneeded. I don't know why they kept pushing combat hard in these games when it could just have a simple combat system with quick fights. The meat and potatoes of the games were always figuring out how to get to where you need to go and using all your skills to get there.

If you have to ask if something """holds up""", then the answer is no.

TT had an unapologetic amount of soul.

Replayed the trilogy recently (as in 5 years ago), from what I remember:

SoT has awful and extremely repetitive combat where you spam the same two combos over and over and watch prince execute every single enemy with the dagger, also worst camera angles by bar, very few free cam sections, which feels awful in a platformer

WW reminded me of souls-likes, grim setting, non-linear with a fair amount of exploration and backtracking, deepest combat in the series by far, the combo list rivals many fighting games, NO FUCKING DAGGER, you get a permanent unbreakable sword + a free hand for breakable pickups, overall enjoyed it the most in the series, some camera angles were still pretty horrible though

TT felt like a crowd pleaser, it basically did its best to mash the wildly different SoT and WW together, and the result... is underwhelming. No sword, the only permanent weapon is the fucking dagger, and a lot of combat mechanics are scaled down from WW. Instead you get... stealth kills... with QTE prompts. Which are also in every boss fight. Quickly input this Simon Says button sequence or the boss regens HP. Such fun. Also, the game is entirely linear with no fun side paths or side areas. And the setting is overall boring, it looks like a Middle East war game, just brightly lit yellow/brown areas, where SoT and WW had their distinct styles. But on the upside, the camera is a lot more modern, it's a free camera most of the time.

Everything you talk about is of the combat. That was never the appeal of the games. It's using all of your platforming orientated skills to get through sections and figuring out how to use those skills to get to an end point.

my favorite part of SoT was that the "boss" at the end of the game was doing the most tricky platforming to date without your dagger
in action games developers will put in brief puzzles to ease the flow of the game and let you relax
in SoT the combat was there to let you take a break from the glorious platforming

I apprecaite your takes here. I can't remember TT as much as the other two games. Though I also mostly remember WW for its edgelord direction it took which for its time was a huge trend for everything to go in such an edgy direction. I liked SOT best but it has been forever since I played all these games. I do sort of remember WW level design being better but SOT story was more enjoyable.

WW > SoT > TT

All three are good games but WW is just a perfect blend, and the secret ending is the masterful cherry on top.
Fucking sucks what happened to Kaileena in TT though.
