I agree. Also ID4 (say what you will about that movie, it's STILL the best alien invasion scene in cinema)

>Tokusatsu & Gundam
But Nintendo has never been an anime Toku company. They only make cartoony influenced gahahahaha I'm just kidding and I'm glad to see their toku/anime roots getting acknowledged more.

The first time I ever read the name "Gundam" was in an issue of latin american Club Nintendo magazine back in '97, they mentioned it as one of the influences for SF64

I remember visiting /m/ for the first time ages ago and getting really surprised that they had Ace Combat and Star Fox threads there. Hell, even stuff like Devilman and Godzilla was being discussed. I guess I didn't really understand what the board was about at that point

It must have been strange to see people talking about things they like and not endlessly hating everything like /vr/

Why do you say people hate each other on /vr/, I've never noticed such a thing on this board?

It's genuinely fucking weird to see people being friendly to each other on this website, not gonna lie. /jp/ is also like that. Haven't been to /m/ in a long time though

/m/ is just as shitposty as /vr/ and other semi-slow boards.
Majority of users are fine but there's always 2 or 3 bad apples spamming the board.
/m/ has a bunch of schizoposters just like how /vr/ has australia-kun and the like.

So... Looney tunes, Disney and pretty much like 70% of cartoons kids watched back then?
Furries as a thing I think became more mainstream in nom retro times (post-1999), I grew up watching all sort of cartoons and playing all sort of vidya with animal characters and I hate furries.
I think back in the 90s the only furry guys were on the Amiga scene, all adult perverts, not kids.

Furries have been a thing forever. Ignore the fact that people have been into talking animals since forever or that they were always a staple in media, the earliest guys to form fandoms specifically tied to the concept of funny talking animals were guys drawing and making fanzines and indie comics in the 70's, funny animals doing things they weren't supposed. It was the 90's when our idea of what modern furries are started forming. So when Star Fox came out.

/jp/ used to be a great place, but I stopped browsing it for years when I came back it was full of 3dpd idol generals, and then when I came after THAT it was full of vtumor shit. Sad.
I don't know if it still has the same culture anymore.

Mecha in Japan is used for any sci-fi with a big focus on mechanics, so Legend of Galactic Heroes is /m/ even if it's not focused giant robots(it does have power armor though which were the precursors to giant robots)
Then there's a big grab bag for other stuff loosely related. Loose reasons, like Devilman being made by the same guy who did Mazinger Z, or Godzilla having mecha-Godzilla, but it's a grab bag for classic older otaku genres that wouldn't really get the light of day on other boards

/m/ is literally unbrowsable for me because some of those shitposters are fucking massive stains on that board

Yeah degenerates always existed.
Again, I grew up watching all sort of anthropomorphic animals, I saw Lola Bunny on the big screen as a kid when Space Jam premiered. So did many of my friends and siblings. We're all heterosexual men who like human XX DNA women and I hate furry culture.
This whole "they mention star fox? I raise furry card!" is just so obviously disingenuous. Also, before Adventures, you rarely saw any animals while playing starfox, except for their faces, you were mostly looking ar space ships and laser beams.
If you want to shitpost with "furry!" go to Amiga threads.... oh, right.

>Yeah degenerates always existed.
They were really just cartoon fans at first
The legend I hear is that in the 90's, they were the only artists who would draw anything if you commission them, so all the fetishists flocked to them and shit snowballed and the rest was history

Regardless of a supposed legend, reality is that most kids grew up watching anthro animal cartoons and only a very small minority became furries.
Again, trying to raise the furry cart to disable Star Fox discussion is dishonest, because then these people should be also calling everyone furries on other game series with animals. And again, at least in the pre-SF Adventures games, most of the visuals are spaceships and lasers.

I like cartoon animals, and it pisses me off how furfags are seen as some kind of pure and logical conclusion. Most furfags are a bunch of creepy homos. They don't represent anything but a very specific set of people.

I don't think there's anything wrong with liking cartoon animals, the fursuiters into fetishes just make it weird
>Again, trying to raise the furry cart to disable Star Fox discussion is dishonest
I was never the guy who did this so this point doesn't apply to me
