This is so much fun. I had only played the Famicom version previously and while it's not bad it's clearly a downgrade.

Haven't played + beat the games in forever. Not since I was a kid. I do seem to recall the TurboGrafx versions being better when I quickly tested them on emulator. Makes sense anyways. I never knew about the third game until way after I lost access to my Turbo console.

And yeah the Bonk games are quite underrated gems at this point. I guess a caveman boy platformer who turns into an ugly monster with power ups is too niche by today's standards. You feel a lot more powerful playing as Bonk in these games as compared to Mario, Sonic or even Donkey Kong in their games.

Super Bonk is the only one I played, but it was a marvelous game. At the time I thought it was curious that it wasn't just a mario ripoff like every other platformer I'd played at the time, but now I appreciate that even more.
