So is this playable on PC by now? Last time I tried to emulate it there were issues.

The only time youd play DK64 was back when it was released and you were 9-11 years old. It aged horrifically, terrible game.

It's not too bad with the hack that lets you switch characters on the fly.

I played it when it came out and I did not like it and just walked around a bit and thought
>What a POS
I have to admit I thought the same thing about GOLDEN EYE which everyone just loves.

I mean I was already a smug and superior PC gamer back then and I grew up with Doom and Duke Nukem 3d and all those classic boomer shooters many many years before Golden Eye came out and I was like
>HAHAHA is this baby's first FPS? This is just terrible

so yeh I never got into the N64 and I even think the beloved titles fucking suck. So I never bothered with DK64. The only good one is DK94 but like I said I wanted to give it a chance to see how it actually plays so

IS IT PLAYABLE BY NOW?
I thought they were going to reverse engineer it like Mario64 or maybe emulators can run it by now because I remember the expansion pack caused problems with emulation. i just want to see it for myself.

I emulated it just fine on Project64 in the last 2 months and didn't have to change any settings from what I use for other games. Runs just fine.

Nice. I also have a hacked Vita and a hacked switch.
Do you use a specific n64 emulator for the vita or do you just use retro arch.

I would like to emulate it on my switch but I don't know how good n64 emulation is in retro arch on the switch.

Depending on your baseline dopamine levels, some amount of self satisfaction. Besides that though you can shit on zoomers who didn't beat it and laugh at them when they cope and say it's shit.

I simply used the Vita port of DaedalusX64 and it ran well for the most part. This was like 4 years ago so I imagine it should perform even better now. Playing Space Station Silicon Valley on it was real cozy.

Should be fine with Mupen64Plus-Next on RetroArch. On chinkhelds you can turn GLideN64's threaded renderer on to boost performance at the cost of some additional input lag, so I imagine it should work well on Switch too.

I 100% a couple years ago on emulator and it played perfectly. The only problem is the races are more difficult. On hardware, the game lags pretty bad during those, and the speed of the opponent is based on framerate. On emulator, you'll probably be running at 60fps, so the racers are moving really fast and you have no room for error at all. Still possible though. The rabbit in Fungi Forest was the worst one if I remember right.

Wtf do you use. Everything I tried for N64 and Dreamcast runs like shit. Dolphin is okay but the motion sensor can be ass for some games and others have weird aspect ratio glitches.

Not that anon, but I use simple64 on desktop because I like having a GUI and I'm too lazy to do a lot of menu setup these days. It uses a modified mupen64plus core under the hood. I have a different PC (that is old and sucks now) running the mupen64plus core via retroarch hooked up to a TV as my "console" as well. Both seem to run N64 games well.

Talking about emulators in general. I just came back to them after many years and thought they were supposed to be perfect or something. Smash ran like shit and inputs were fucked on other 64 emulators, and the most popular Dreamcast emulator would hang up and had graphic issues with Sonic of all games

Simple64 is deprecated, I'm pretty sure.
Either use Rosalie's Mupen Launcher if you want a standalone app, or mupen64plus-next within Retroarch, for N64.
>Dreamcast
Flycast. Dont forget your bios files.
