Deep Forest probably
I like driving El Capitan but the AI is terrible at it which makes it kind of lame

Autumn Ring is godlike, both normal and reverse.

It's a slog, and they butchered it extra hard in GT3

Yeah they're alright. My personal favorites are NFS3 and High Stakes.

Sounds like you're describing Seattle in GT3 or Hong Kong in GT4, at least with the dusk settings.

Laguna Seca was also set at sunset in GT3 but that's obviously a real-world circuit.

IIRC Apricot Hill is at sunset in GT3 on the reverse version, and Grand Valley (?) changes between forward and back too. GT3 does that for a few tracks and it's great, really makes them feel different instead of just being backwards.

I thought about answering Apricot Hill but in my heart of hearts I hate it, feels like your tires have no traction there because most turns have the track angled out in a way that would kill half the drivers every race. But the AI is pretty good at it and it doesn't have much cheese.

trial mountain for average speed fun
grand valley full forward for technical racing
SSr5 for playback fodder.
