I'm playing Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball as the Mariners and I can't strike out a single person as a pitcher. Isn't Randy Johnson supposed to be a pitching god IRL?

That game came out before he got good.

The only real player is Griffey, I think the Gameboy version was the only one that had player names because the player association ok that, only it's the 96-97 rosters. You can change and rename players to real players if you have the time and patience.

Play the N64 version. Randy's stats are stacked to the fucken hilt, bruh. He can toss 106 MPH fastballs all game. He is on another level.

No. According to a 2020 The Athletic article about development of the game, Griffey was personally present at the office from time to time and he personally approved all pixel art of himself.

Well if you want to strike someone out you have to be a good pitcher as a player. Also make sure you're not pitching with low energy.

Once you get to two strikes, start throwing slowballs away, the batter will swing and miss about a third of the time. Your pitcher needs a good control-to-speed ratio to make it work, or else the batter will catch up to it. You can also do the same thing inside to the batter, they'll swing about 9 out of 10 times, but then the pitcher's control needs to be higher than his speed, and you're also risking a hit by pitch.

Also, in season mode, the game only tracks the starting pitcher to determine rest days. So you can start any other pitcher, sub him out in the first inning for the pitcher you want to use, and you'll be able to use him every single game.
