This game is a fucking masterpiece.

>best boss fights of any SNES platformer, leagues ahead of SMW
>54 long levels full of content and secrets
>full of variety. like 50 enemy types, 4 "transformations", melon attacks, mario mode, mini-games, bonus rounds etc...
>gorgeous graphics
>gorgeous music

Only edgelord zoomerfaggots don't like it, because they just see a baby and think it's a shit baby game, without trying it, missing out on the best the SNES has to offer.

it's a beautiful game, but i always get bored with it after a couple of worlds, shelve it, then try it again a year or two later.
a bit too easy.

Trvke. But it still kinda makes me miss the classic block and powerup mechanic of SMB1+3 and SMW.
If SMW had the same tier level design (essentially the whole game having levels as good as Special Zone) it would be glorious.
But yes as it is it's probably the best SNES platformer

No, this game just fucking sucks and is the worst the SNES has to offer. The Super Mario games peaked with Super Mario World. Yoshi's Island lives in it's shadow.

I wish this was true, so there would be less interest in it and buying the game would be cheaper

Super Mario All Stars + World with the brick fix patch is superior because you get, like, for real, for real, five 16-bit games for the price of one game ($0.00). Yoshis aisleland only gives you ONE game.

>Only edgelord zoomerfaggots don't like it,

No. It's a collection-heavy game so people who dislike that will not consider it a masterpiece. This is like praising a JRPG - there's a lot to love about the genre, but it's so badly flawed that lots of reasonable people are still going to dislike it. Games that rely this heavily on the collection of arbitrary objects that have no purpose in themselves are going to turn some people off, for good reason.

The other popular criticism, the one about the crying sounds, is garbage. But the criticism of the collecting is reasonable.

It's a good game though, yeah.

Yoshi's Island is the ultimate 4chud filter. The tryhards always break out into autistic screeching about MUH COLLECTATHON instead of an actual quality analysis.

That's a good take, as someone who loves JRPGs and Yoshi's Island but I have friends who dislike both.

It's funny how the bosses in Yoshi's Island are actually fun and inventive, because bosses have always been a weak point of Mario games, either they're way too easy (even as a little kid, I almost immediately figured out how to cheese every single SMB3 Boom Boom fight), too boring, too repetitive (as in most bosses are just tweaked rehashes), or as is often the case, all of the above.

YI is the softest collectathon ever though. None of the collectibles are mandatory, you can just play the game like a zoom platformer and beat Bowser without collecting a single flower or red coin. It's literally as much of a collectathon as Crash Bandicoot, yet no one ever calls that a collectathon or complains that there's too much collection.

YI is in fact the peak of classic Mario because bosses are the sovl of any action/platforming game.

Because Yoshi's Island is boring when played straight through. The challenge is with completing it 100%. If people don't like the idea of collecting stuff then they can go play another game.

Is it Let's Be Wrong About Everything Day already? Fun. Let me try. You are very smart and certainly do not smell at all of horse urine.
No.
That wasn't fun at all.

I'm partially deaf, so the crying was kinda a deal breaker for me since I couldn't fucking hear anything else. Still a decent game though. People who hate or felate it are both equally retarded.

Liking YI more than SME is a contrarian take you fucking loser. There's a reason nobody talks about Yoshi's Island, because its level design sucks and the gameplay is unfun.

I remember kids at recess thought the samething in 95. NoA renamed it and even gave it an edgy gross commercial for a very good reason.

This game is basically a garbage concept handled by a top tier team.
