Consolidation can strengthen individuals when done right and should be done right. Otherwise, individual ownership weakens individuals because you don't need that many to end up owning everything.
Likewise, "self-employment" doesn't mean better. I know self employed people who struggle with their businesses, don't get proper medical coverage etc... and eats up their time. Consolidation is actually the way to improve peoples lives when it's done by and for the people, a thing we simply do not allow or do here.

Also, Self Employment was more akin to agricultural serfdom shit, and it wasn't 90% in 1900 it was closer to 50%

Although, technically - the Matrix the red-pill was actually the indoctrination pill and the blue was the correct pill. Because Morpheus lied about everything and tried to get humanity killed. Whereas the machines were actively trying to help humanity grow past their flaws and kept them alive for their own benefit - thus blue-pilling in the Matrix was closer to attempting to develop an understanding of reality that red-pillers who jumped off the ride of humanity to stop learning and ignore basic fucking material reality that they couldn'y survive en masse in wastes.

To clarify - for humanities own benefit, not machines. Literally machines won the war and didn't need humans and would have zero trouble existing without them. But they wanted to save humanity so they built the Matrix as a terrestrial "century-ship + edutainment suite" against the conditions humans brought because they went full scorched earth without understanding the machines could survive it, and they basically destroyed the planet because machines made better hardware for cheaper than they could and dominated the stock market - which is what morpheus is trying to do, revitalize a losing stock-market war against machines who want to cooperate with humans but he hasn't been learning in the Matrix enough to understand what the fuck is going on and still has stock-market-itism and was willing to kill off billions to get back some stupid tciker shit in a waste land, ie the wrong fucking move.
