Jaguar version because it doesnโ€™t have the slippery floor bullshit. Sorry but I value my time.

Jaguar has the worst music, sorry but I value my ears. Saturn is the best.

>not listing GBA and NDSi version for fair judgement
Anyway, it's PS1 version
>GBA
Probably the worst version - port of PC version, smallest screen, worst quality of sound and graphics, excels at pretty much nothing beyond a few unique music tracks and easier difficulty.
>PC
Annoying to setup on modern PCs, loops the entire soundtrack of each world (and doesn't have dedicated tracks for each part of the level), has different placement of cages and lives for no reason - the only interesting thing to note is completely different first part of Bongo Hills
>NDSi
Port of PC version but with QoL features (level "map", being able to skip level sections you've beaten during revisits) at the cost of small screen and complete casual galore (that fucking doubled health bar), also pain in the ass to find and emulate
>Jaguar
Very different from every other version - some levels have completely different layouts and physics (Mr.Dark's level might be the best one in this version compared to the rest), OST and audio have lower quality yet still have that retro charm in them, and there's also Breakout minigame.
>PS1 / Saturn
Saturn is pretty much PS1 version but with fancy loading screens, a bit more visual effects (like the ones during Mr.Dark fight) and different background placement for some sections of the levels. The main reason I rate PS1 version over Saturn one is accessibility - it's piss easy to find and emulate or run on various PS consoles (home or portables).
GBC version is a different game so I didn't include it

I tried Rayman Redemption and felt like the changes and additions were very poorly done and added in such a fucking hamfisted way. In no way is it "the definitive version" like Redditors claim. And Rayman 1 fucking sucks despite my immense childhood nostalgia for it.

I want to strangle everyone who uses the term "definitive" unironically. It's up there with overused terms like "beta" or "canon."

>I tried Rayman Redemption and felt like the changes and additions were very poorly done and added in such a fucking hamfisted way.
Yeah, because Ryemanni did it mostly alone and barely trusted anyone else to work on it (beyond his artist friends IIRC), which is why many features from original game aren't replicated correctly - at least he himself admitted he fucked up a bunch of gameplay elements like physics.
Too bad he listened to one of his retarded friends on social media and censored space pirates due to "big fucking lips" (which is why they're ugly robo-pirates now)
>In no way is it "the definitive version" like Redditors claim.
Modern gamers cry about Rayman 1 for two main reasons:
>wah wah too difficult!
>wah wah need 100% cages to unlock final level
First reason is literally git gud because it's not even in Top-10 hardest 2D platformers, but Redemption killed any sort of difficulty game had (so casuals are happy). And no, Dark Rayman mode and Menace mode (did I get the name right? The one where you have 1 HP and P orbs kill you) are not a good replacement for original's difficulty.
Second reason is more acceptable because some cages ARE hidden behind very obtuse gendoors, but then again... what's the point of collecting cages if you don't get anything for 100% completion? Think of it as True Ending while Normal (or Bad) Ending is Rayman jobbing to Mr.Dark and not saving the world or something.
>And Rayman 1 fucking sucks
OVER THE LINE
FUCK YOU

the "music" is synonymous to ear molestation though

and the tracks loop after like 5 fucking seconds. having a short tune repeat every 5 secs is literally torture

this right here is an example why i mostly don't bother with fan creations and mods of the past 10 years

reminds me of those autists that pressure modders into adding a void under amy's skirt when it comes to sonic adventure mods
it pisses them off because a fictional character is "le underage" and female sexuality is now taboo for some reason

The difficulty isnt the problem, its the completely broken life/continue system if you are playing using the in-game save system. Assuming they didnt fix that, the game would be better, if they had just scrapped lives entirely and kept the difficulty and check-points as is, but given you either infinite tries, or a set number of tries per stage.

All you have to do is drop the .exe over a dosbox shortcut, and/or create said shortcut.
