Its not as good as I remember it being. Overrated series, I went through them all and the controls and car physics just felt awful.

It's just about driving and shooting each other, the concept alone is the appeal, you literally do nothing other than drive, shoot, and watch dark story bits that are cool

Its another thing you need to be a 90s kid to even begin to understand, we liked serial killers, we liked horror films, we liked explosions and action, we liked demolishion derbies and monster trucks, we liked rob zombie, you just don't get it

These are not good games. Just like many Sony franchises, they became "popular" because PS1/PS2 introduced millions of normalfags to "babby's first _____". Twisted Metal is a mediocre series.

Such a retard arguement. I AM a 90s kid. I loved the shit out of these games as a kid, but now that I am an adult I just realized these games were kind of shit. If they were done by a more talented developer they would have been better games.

Nah. The weapons aren't as good, the characters are too wacky even for TM standards and ypi only fight like 3 enemies at times.
Nevermind the mission system kind of killing the flow of combat.
I loved 2nd Offense a lot but I still play TM today.

>>11889503
Same issue as above.

TM 2 has a very cool learning curb and its difficulty keeps you on edge.
TM1 is jank but fuck if I don't love the setting and Cyburbia is one of my favorite arenas with many enemies and huge map.
Tm3&4 were okay but not a fan of how weaponry feel less like weaponry and more like fireworks.
Black issue for me is that skills are too demanding so there is less room for strategy (In Black 2 freezes or 2 shields drain the meter almost entirely unlike 234 where you still have room for a third use if you wait a few seconds) and the imputs are terrible (Going from uur to llrrdd is atrocious). And worse is those abilities are nerfed the fuck out compared to 2.

The weapons are way better in vigilante 8 with them having different ways to be used, Twisted Metal weapons are either missiles or gimmick bullshit

You are right the objectives fucking suck but the way your car works, Vigilante 8 is way better

Iโ€™ll have to play it solo because I always had a buddy w me when I played (campaign is coop iirc) and games are always more fun w buddies. I still have a copy just need to hook up the ole ps2 real fast. I do remember the story bits being super fucked up (I was a bit sheltered) and that hooked us big time.

My buddies and I did enjoy vigilante 8 more from the gameplay side but I recall both games being great fun w the caveat that I played them all w other people.

Trying to make Sweet Tooth scary instead of creepy and weird was retarded.
The laugh was scary because it meant he was launching shit at you, and Dark Tooth is a great jumpscare.

It's better than you remember it being. Learn the controls and don't get tricked into picking Junkyard Dog because it's the first vehicle in the selection screen, JD makes the game anti-fun. The other games are okay but goddamn I fucking love Black as a unified experience, the controls, the speed, the effects, the level design, the characters, the ambiance, even the BROWN.

Most people who hate TM2 get filtered by the difficulty and admittedly cheap AI moments.
But if you are actually good, you appreciate the challenge.

There's nothing wrong with the controls, just you have to play the game a very specific way. You can't just drive around shooting or you die in 2 seconds, you need to attack then retreat like a fighter jet or something.
When I was replaying some PS2 games I threw this one in due to nostalgia and got my ass kicked in seconds despite having it 100% mastered when I was younger.

No we all didnโ€™t love rob zombie or serial killers. In fact, the only rob zombie thing Iโ€™ve ever liked is the devils rejects even tho for me, itโ€™s hard to watch certain scenes, the dialogue is next to only Tarantino in that movie. Anyway, his music sucked. I agree w u on the other things tho. Were u raised in the south?

yeah growing up I realized singleplayer absolutely sucks in twisted metal because they made all the AI cheat and not even fight each other unless they are in your vision. Its basically you vs 7 other cars that absolutely FUCK your health if you even try head on combat. Im nostalgic for TM but they haven't aged well AT ALL.

>TM but they haven't aged well AT ALL.
Not really.
The things is at least in regard to 1 and 2, they require commitment.
They can be played normally and while hard you will be able to beat it.
But to master it is to recognize enemy ai, item placement and patterns.
Like what is the control problems of 2 that makes it age bad?

The biggest mistake of TMB is the series was supposed to be Doom on wheels but they accidentally made Ace Combat on wheels, which is great once you realize that but ass until then

NTA but for me the only issue with TM2 is low framerate which is around 20ish while Vigilante 8 gets 40-60 fps on PS1. Other than that, TM2 is still the best game of its kind for me. Rogue Trip is the real TM3.
I only tried Black for the first time recently and it reminded me of V8 a lot with uneven open areas and the way weapon powerups attach to the car.

I always liked Twisted Metal Black when I was younger, but yeah, I tried to replay it recently and the gameplay didn't hold up. I still like the cutscenes and visuals of it, but it's not worth putting up with the gameplay just to watch the cutscenes. Shame, unlocking a character's story and hearing Paint It Black over the credit was kino, but I can never go back.

I actually like the slowness of 2.
I feel like black is too fast. Like freeze doesnt last long enough, almost no way to keep enemy cars in place and most weapons except power and super machine gun feel either weak or gimmicky.
Sometimes the areas of V8 feel too big, specially when you only deal with 3 enemy cars.
