Do you ever give yourself challenges? Specifically I'm asking about lists like

But please, tell me any challenge you've come up with, even if it's beating the game on it's hardest mode, single life etc.

Too arbitrary for me. I don't get inspired by entire platforms or genres.

This I could see myself doing. I can't think of a time when it's come up though

This and getting 100% completion are things I aim for if I really get excited about a particular game. Also possibly 1CC if it's applicable and seems fun, especially if the game is technically too easy solely because it offers infinite continues. 100% completion isn't always fun, but in some kinds of games it is.

Stuff like one-life runs, no-hit runs, or speedruns is too picky for me. I don't like when my run through a game is brittle to the point that even the tiniest mistake will ruin it.

Games that let you run with a particular "build" can be fun to try to finish with odd setups. Like, taking an unwieldy set of weapons in Alien Soldier, or playing Final Fantasy with all thieves or some such nonsense. I have done that sort of thing occasionally.

I challenge myself to have fun with a game. Seriously. I try to do everything the fun way, even when it isn't optimal. This includes making the game more challenging etc.

Nothing gay like those, but when I master a game I'll often give myself challenges that make it more difficult such as not using certain moves/weapons or beating it blindfolded.
