I was just thinking how I feel like playing something like morrowind, but that there's nothing like it, especially on consoles

Morrowind is on Xbox, but I don't recommend that version unless you already have nostalgia or something. I'm having a great time building my own house and stuff in the construction kit. Haver you ever built the lore around your character into the game? I'm a Rogue Baker. i have a bunch of cooking mods installed and I go around selling my baked goods to far reaches of vvardenfall. I've been thinking about making a quest mod about being an archaeologist baker and honing your skills to compete in the chef championship of morrowind in vivec. Though... idk if anybody would be interested in that kind of thing.

People are interested in quest and roleplay mods. Make it good and compatible. Nothing too "out there", unimmersive.

I've made a few, but mostly just editing the base game. I never tried doing quests. Have you given it a go?

i make personal mods, but i've never released a mod for public. I did start a massive quest mod about quadruplet vampire sisters searching for their father, but writing large quests is tedious and I stopped. I mostly make house mods, food mods, sometimes Ill add stuff with nifskope/blender. I made some pygmy betty netches for a house mod(picrel). what kind of stuff do you mod?

Recently I made a video about the various bits of odd media that inspired Morrowind. You might find something in there that catches your eye:

There are a handful of modern indie games that are very overtly Morrowind inspired, like Kenshi and Dread Delusion, but I can't vouch for their quality.

they are mostly for immersion for the character I'm playing. I always create a custom class and add things into the game to make my character fit into the game better. I always make a house and usually a few npcs with some dialogue. its nothing that would be of use to others playthroughs or something they couldnt do for themselves and their own characters. its pretty simple to add stuff in the construction kit. if you want my pygmy betty netch mod, i can upload you a version where you can place them where you want them.

I recently got a build up that I genuinely believe could be considered Morrowind 2 or even 3. Every system is upgraded down to the smallest detail. (Pic related is Seyda Neen in my game, with Graht's Trees, they're beautiful)

And btw - fuck OpenMW. Every important mod I use is MWSE only and can only work in MWSE because the entire ability to script in OpenMW is basically non-existent. The most important mods by far that I use like the "PvP" mod which makes combat dramatically more action packed like adding active dodging, parrying, blocks.

And that's just melee combat, I have mods that improve every system that much. Sneak, pickpocketing, jumping, poisons/potions, talking, the entire leveling system (MULE). The list goes on for like 100+ mods and most are MWSE.

Only casuals like OpenMW. Literally, you guys don't realize how many amazing mods I've found with the top comment saying "does this work on OpenMW???" And the modder stickying the post and their response which usually goes like this
"NO, ITS NOT OPEN MW COMPATIBLE. And it never will be unless the makers of OpenMW choose to allow lua scripts to work with their engine or someone makes a fork that does it. Until then MWSE will NEVER work with OpenMW!!"

It's just sad at this point that people choose to lose everything scripting offers to modding Morrowind just for OpenMW which offers.....what? I truly don't know what OpenMW does better. The multiplayer feature is cool but no one uses it, aside from that it's a downgrade in every way. You can easily mod it to make enemies chase through doors so the open world nature is bullshit too.

STOP USING OPEN MW, MWSE IS KING.

Another pic near Seya Neen. I may not have the biggest textures installed but my game still looks like a million bucks.

I've never tried open morrowind. I never had a need for it. with the bug fixes and such, it rarely crashes and like you say, all the best mods are mwse dependant. I have an install with tons of incompatible mods im slowly stitching together and it still doesnt crash nearly as much as I thought it wouldve. I love all the weird oddity mods like abbots mods. waterlife is always a must. i also like verts and morrowind come alive and stuff. really just adds that much more. On another note, I think that Daggerfall unity is absolutely an amazing thing. its like the opposite of open morrowind, allowing people to mod nearly every aspect like its own construction kit.

I really want to try draggerfall unity but idk the best way to play it. Isn't there a steam version maybe? I remember failing to start it when I tried to 3 - 4 years ago but idk what version I was trying to use or anything like that.

Not gonna lie I was PLEASANTLY surprised by Redguard. None of the earlier or later TES games really "felt" like Morrowind to me, but Redguard did in a few key ways. Like you get the feeling that it takes place in the exact same setting with very few retcons between the two games, and that's a feeling that you almost never get with TES. Both were written by pretty much the same people, and it shows.

Holy zoomoid. I know that predatory clickbait-ragebait-engagamentbait hypetrain viral marketing schemes are all you've ever known, but things didn't always work like that.

Pretty sure those are quite obvious production mockups, and even if they were used as early promo material, so what?

You should play Shadowkey, it has a similar vibe.
Anonymous No.11896585
>>11896310
These sorts of things usually are. When we look at production images like that now, I don't think anyone is thinking "WHAT, why didn't the game end up looking like that?!?" We know they're just highly curated and posed little 3D scenes that would probably run at 5fps if you tried to explore it in real time. As far as "bullshots" go I don't think they're anything particularly egregious either.

I think I can handle the jank and bullshit of Redguard. The atmosphere, presentation and early beginnings of Kirkbride-era lore look really appealing. I've played about half an hour of the GOG version and the performance was just so fucking bad I couldn't go on. I tried about 3 different tweak guides but could never get it to run decently.
Anonymous No.11896831 >>11897012
>>11896572
I have, and I feel like that similar vibe is mostly because it straight up reuses Morrowind music and item names. That aside I don't think the setting feels that true to Morrowind-era TES, the whole shadow magic thing is kind of clashing. Also there was a "Dusk and Dawn" themed dungeon, but no Daedra or Aedra anywhere in the game. Kind of weird.
>>11896589
The performance doesn't impact the gameplay though. Ocarina of Time runs at 20 FPS and nobody complains about that. You can say it vaguely "feels bad" but that's not a rational reason, Redguard isn't a fighting game. The only truly fucked up part is the way the game speeds up for a second after loading a save, but you control when to save so it's manageable.

>Ocarina of Time runs at 20 FPS and nobody complains about that
Plenty do. I don't care personally because any way I play OOT now keeps it locked at a stable 20fps. Redguard, at least in my experience, speeds up and slows down wildly and makes for a very unpleasant experience. Gamespeed is tied to framerate so just walking around town Cyrus alternates from running in slow-mo to doing a full sprint. It *does* feel bad and that's perfectly rational reason to not want to play it unless I could lock it to something more stable, no matter how low the framerate.
