I enjoy it. I didn't at first (first played a couple years ago) because it was so hard and bland. Coming back to it today, it's actually fairly easy and full of charm. I love the transformations, too. Definitely not the best game ever, but when I'm exhausted after a long day at work and just wanna unwind, you better believe I'm gonna be booting up Altered Beast again in the future.

GA 3 is fantastic, I'm not terribly good at the GA games but I always think they're fun. I always had the impression that people didn't like 3 but haven't encountered anyone in the wild stating it.
Also The Revenge of Death Adder is my favourite in the series, both glad and sad it never got a Mega Drive port (or even a Saturn Port)

Golden Axe 1 and 2 are nearly identical games. Shit graphics, shit gameplay. GA3 feels like a proper development of the series, with much funner and more responsive gameplay than GA1/2 and MUCH better graphics. Its kind of insane how far ahead Streets of Rage was until GA3 was released. Funnily the series is kind of the anti-Streets.

Alien Storm definitely doesnt get enough love. My beat em up cart lineup is Altered Boomer, Alien Storm, GA1, SoR1 (both from 6-pak) and Captain America and the Avengers. If GA3 had a US cart I'd buyfag that too, but alas. The genny has such a great lineup of beat em offs.

The only thing I dislike is overall balancing. There's a lot of fancy combos and throws, but they all do about same damage. Ride animals are pretty mediocre. Magic isn't too strong either. But then there's forward+B+C which is probably the best attack in the game, Tyris can kill most enemies with it easily. Panther has that unblockable leap move which is pretty broken too.

I like Alien Storm more than Golden Axe. I just like the fact that if you're at a certain distance from an enemy it doesn't turn into ram or be rammed, and that you can double tap to dash and you have a roll as well. I like the move set in Alien Storm. Shame that for the Genesis it doesn't have many different looking enemies. I guess there's the kangaroo guys in the Genesis exclusive alien ship.

Golden Axe 2 and 3 are non-canon. Only 1 and Revenge of Death Adder count.
