this is just a bioshock 1 prototype set in space with shitty combat and boomer controls.

take your nostalgia glasses off. if you played this for the first time in 2025 you would know what i'm talking about xD

Bioshock is an extremely stripped down and dumbed down version of SS2 set underwater.

Bioshock handles research better.
Going to a room and collecting chemicals and waiting, and being able to level it up so you require less chemicals and wait less is an inferior mechanic to Bioshock's Camera mechanic, where you are putting away your weapon and forgoing potential damage to level up your research
Also the hacking minigame was alright

Reviewers didn't like it so they responded to those reviews in order to try and raise those metacritic scores
But I liked it

assuming this isn't (you) bait
>this is just a bioshock 1 prototype
bioshock is derivative of this game in it's basic form without leveling but underwater and being a critique of Ayn Rand. I also like Bioshock but saying that this is just a prototype of Bioshock is like saying dark souls is just a prototype of elden ring.
>take your nostalgia glasses off. if you played this for the first time in 2025 you would know what i'm talking about xD
The first time playing this was five months ago
>>11894107
Actually true. I don't really care that seeing how certain chemicals react to the biology of the enemies is realistic, it is much better to cut that inconvenience. Also the actual puzzles however simple as they may be in bioshock where you connect the water pipes is much better. However I think that the hacking done in system shock 1 remake is the best.

System Shock 2 riffs on Alien too much. The weird cyberpunk body horror of the first game is a lot cooler than "lol we brought these weird alien eggs onto our spaceship oops they hatched and now they're killing everyone!"

I know you're baiting but the "nostalgia glasses" shit is such a psyop. they keep telling normalfags that the games they played 20 years ago weren't actually good, that they have nostalgia glasses and those games DESPERATELY need a remake for the "modern audience"
of course, the retarded normalfags will believe anything as long as enough people talk about it loudly enough.

SS2 has some of the forced cyborg shit in it, the cyborg midwives.

But 1 is way better in that regard, Diego and the game over screen are both really freaky

SS1s aethestics are great but the cyborg midwives are by far the most disturbing enemy in the game, especially knowing the the basis for being targeted for that procedure is having a naturally nurturing personality. Nice bait tho

I like how if a game tries to rip off another you can just call the game being ripped off a "prototype." Very interesting innovation in the field of bait writing.

Bioshock was one of the biggest letdowns of my life. SS1 was glorious, and remains a true classic. SS2 was great; not the same, not as good, but certainly not stagnant. The first Bioshock has one of the most amazing settings ever conceived for a video game. It's still amazing now, i love it. Then the game turned out to be a railshooter. No hacking, no choices, no exploration, no creativity in weapon design or combat. I mean sure, infants like pablum, but those of us hoping that - what was it - fifteen years of development would see improvements, were rather let down. The second game is worse. And Bioshock infinite was just a showpiece for the single point of irony someone thought was clever (let's make an alternate universe/branching path/infinite possibilities storyline that's actually linear and doesn't allow any deviation at all! Mind. Blown!).

If you want the spiritual successor to the first games, try Prey. An anon on here recommended it to me, and it's awesome.

How's special ed going, btw?

>>11894107
>Also the plumbing minigame was alright
Fixed that for you. I preferred logic puzzles, but you obviously focus more on time spent in bathrooms. Not judging, the game had a lot of them.

Are you familiar with the System Shock Infinite mod for 2?
It adds these decision points where you can alter the timeline, siding with Diego, Korenchkin, Delacroix. Your choices have benefits and penalties, and change the environment as you move between decks
It also adds 9 endings
