what are you favorite ps1 rpgs besides final fantasy? are there any translated jap exclusives worth playing? this is my favorite era/genre of games by far.
>>11894336 I got to this part recently and it was weird to me how Shinra had all the money in the world but didn't seem to have an airforce. It really could have been any other type of conversation they could have been having that could have led to the Tiny Bronco being hijacked.
>>11894339 >It really could have been any other type of conversation they could have been having that could have led to the Tiny Bronco being hijacked This is true. But, at this point you had already been though their airport in Junon. You saw the airship and serval other planes up there, and the TB is a one person craft. Pres was gonna do it himself? lol
>>11894336 That's not as much a plot "hole" as a plot contrivance; that's the difference between a lack of explanation vs a merely stupid one when it comes to story convenience.
They do make a point of saying earlier how the Highwind was receiving maintenance. Is it dumb that there's apparently only two available fast, long-range airships in the entire Shinra-controlled territory? Sure; but that doesn't make it a plot hole.
Star Ocean 2 Vagrant Story Parasite Eve Tales of Eternia/Destiny 2 Threads of Fate Chrono Cross Legend of Dragoon Suikoden Suikoden 2
on the flip side Ive tried playing through xenogears, dq VII breath of fire iv and valkyrie and I REALLY want to like them, they all have beautiful music or art style or story going for them. but damn it they just bore me to tears. Idk why, on the surface I should love them. maybe I stopped before the good part. idk but I just cant do it. I hate the battle system in xenogears. VP seems really amazing but the level design is shit and theres basically no story besides random vignettes which is why I dont like DQ vii either. bofIV is jsut crazy long stretches of basically nothing happening.
still need to try: Parasite Eve 2 Wild Arms Breath of Fire III Tales of Phantasia Tales of Destiny Legend of Legaia Grandia Koudelka Legend of Mana Saga Frontier 1/2 Persona 1/2 any reccs which one I should try next?
>>11894152 (OP) >are there any translated jap exclusives worth playing? Tales of Phantasia, TearSingSaga, Persona 2 Innocent Sin, Super Robot Taisen Alpha Gaiden.

>>11894468 All those you listed are good. I would pick Wild Arms or Grandia first. Wild arms has some light Zelda like elements in the dungeon puzzles. Grandia has my personal favorite RPG battle system that kept me hooked.
If you thought BoF 4 was that boring 3 probably isn't for you. Check out the Lunar ps1 remakes as well unless you want to play the original sega CD versions.
>>11894336 The way to fix this was to just take Rufus' role out of it entirely have it just being Palmer trying to get it by himself, the joke being he sucks so much Shinra wont even give him a plane. It all just ends up being a fight with Palmer anyway so it could have worked.
>>11894336 welp i'm gonna be out back tunin up the tiny bronco don't go fuckin shit up shera

>>11894152 (OP) Never really understood wtf he was supposed to be. Like is he a double amputee that has magical powers to float or is it some sort of tech like an advanced wheel chair or Iām I just not seeing something everyone else is.
>>11894152 (OP) Either Growlanser on ps1 or Vandal Hearts 2. I played GL ages ago and I did with a translated script. Right now it's Vandal Hearts 2. I played it for the first time last year and quickly became my favorite game in a long time. Love everything about it, even its art direction.

>>11894468 Oooof why Dragoon so low. Iām so biased I love that game so much. I need to replay it through. The final boss is such a trip.
>>11895080 I actually just got through that part of the game last night and yes rufus does mention how the air force was grounded for repairs or something like that. its still pretty ridiculous, we see them using helicopters multiple times throughout the game. and tseng still makes it there without the tiny bronco anyway
SaGa Frontier is easily my favorite PS1 RPG. Such a great setting, fun growth mechanics, fun worlds to explore, and short scenarios. Sparking skills is hype as well, and chaining up a level 5 combo.
