>>11864289Sign ups for the tournament are underway! We don't have to stop progress to do it, just upload your save as is, keep playing, and we'll see how many people join, then we'll set up a bracket and times to actually battle.
HOW TO JOIN
1 - Start a playthrough (any version is fine).
2 - Follow level caps. Level 50 or lower currently.
3 - Keep the community updated on your progress. Pics now.
4 - Battle other players! We don't have to save it for tourneys. Post your battle results and teams in the thread. Trades are highly encouraged. Coordinate with others.
5 - Upload your saves. For physical carts, try using GBxcart or GB Operator to upload your save files. It's not required, but trading will be off the table.
6 - Share your ingame name, trainer ID, and an image of RBY trainer sprite you want and I can make graphics. Use this link as a reference. https://www.spriters-resource.com/game_boy_gbc/pokemonredblue/sheet/8729/
TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE
After the 4th Badge: First Single Elimination Tournament
After the 8th Badge: Second Single Elimination Tournament
HOW WILL THAT WORK?
Parsec allows two players to individually batlle and then post results. I will host a parsec session myself after both players give me their saves.
Battles will be conducted on Pokemon Stadium.
If your opponent doesn't show, after one rescheduling, it's counted as a loss for them, a win for you.
Showdown is the fallback if nothing else is doable.
BATTLE RULES
Level 50 All
Clauses: Sleep Clause, Freeze Clause, No Double Team
ANYTHING ELSE?
Have fun. Don't be afraid to post pictures. Yell at me if you want any of this to change. Hide the thread if you don't care. Suggest challenges!
We are so back. Time to get Koga's badge so I can start surfing around.
To the retard at the tail-end of the last thread:
If this moves to /vp/, I'm dropping out. I will not be engaging with that cesspit of a board.
>>11901194It's OP - don't worry. /vr/ is the only board I've ever considered doing this on. Not even counting how terrible the culture of /vp/ is, the board moves too fast for something like this to even work.
>>11901194It was just a suggestion because clearly the janny has some issue with this thread or he wouldn't have made it autosage. I'd rather have it be moved to a cesspit (which you're not forced to interact with outside the thread) than see it die because of a retarded janny.
>>11901279Threads autosage after 2 weeks, unless disabled by the board. That's how 4chan has always worked.
>>11901309Pretty obscure feature when you consider the vast majority of boards are so fast it never comes into play ir so slow it's disabled anyway.
>>11901331Yea I didn't know that either. It's usually never an issue because of how fast most boards are, so threads don't survive for two weeks anyway. I think it's a useful feature though.
What are some Rock type moves? I just got Kabuto, but I'm not sure if I want to keep using him. I've found a lot of "Normal" TM's but I don't seem to have come across any good Rock moves. I guess Kabuto can learn Surf, which is nice, but his stats don't impress me all that much.
>>11901528Rock Slide is the only notable Rock-type move, you can get it from TM48 by giving one of the soft drinks to a little girl on the Celadon Dept. Store rooftop.
>>11901528>>11901541Just checked, Kabutops can't learn Rock Slide in Gen 1. At least you get Kabuto on a high enough level so it doesn't completely suck, but it's movepool is pretty shallow.
>>11901545>>11901541Thanks, that's pretty lame though. I like how Kabutops looks, but if he's going to be Rock and Water type, that's going to make him vulnerable to a lot of moves ... I'd probably replace him then
>>11901550On a more positive side, Slash with its high Speed and Attack makes it pretty damn good, even without the STAB. And if you're facing a Rock-type, you can just Surf. It doesn't need much more than that.
Based OP, I thought you had given up on us. Time to change up my team.
>>11901083 (OP)OP, are you thinking about doing this with other gens?
Also, how are you all battling on Stadium? Is there a safe way to do this because I assume you are all using netplay on an emulator.
>>11901764Had no idea what parsec was, will look into installing that at some point
Thanks for baking new thread, OP. We need a new bake when it starts auto saging.
>>11901764Yes! I think it would be interesting. Making it semi-annual would be interesting.
>>11901717Sorry my friend. Real life got in the way and I wasn't able to make a thread until late night. We're seeing this through to the end!
>>11901764Parsec is amazing. It's extremely safe in my experience because you literally control from the getgo what kind of control the other person has over your PC. I've had many an anon on my PC game with me over Parsec with zero incident, because I only ever allowed gamepad control. The very first tournament I ever held was done over Parsec and we had a blast.
>>11901806I'll make sure to stay on top of it!

I would be up for more Pokemon after this. I know very little about the games after Gen 1, but I would certainly be up for trying.
>>11902295gen 2 is basically just gen 1 with more features and QOL.
>>11902321Is Gen 2 when "shinys" were introduced?
Also I was wondering; Can you trade pokemons in between Gen 1 and Gen 2 games?
>>11902329Yes, I'm pretty sure its the only game you can do two-way trades between generations.
>>11902326Yes, there's even an in game event for a shiny gyarados.
>>11902236Worked like a charm, now I'm just waiting on other anons to square up, even just one other person and we could hold a battle
>>11902329Yes you can. Gen 3 breaks compatibility with intergenerational trading though.

Made some steady progress and I'm calling it for today, also not pictured is the Electabuzz that I managed to catch, he's the new team member and will be replacing Marowak, as much I like Marowak I think an Electric pokemon is going to be a stronger fighter, and what's more, I found out that he can learn Teleport, so that's pretty handy.
Still chugging along. Need to grind and/or refactor team before Koga. Tbh this is one of the best Gen 1 playthroughs I've done in a long time.
>>11902746>butterfree and raticatebased. i always want to level these guys but i end up not doing it because i know i have to swap them out later.
>>11902353Completely forgot the TMs I wanted to teach my team. Here's my save file again.

Also this is my current team.
>>11902801I've never used a Butterfree this long, it's pretty handy as a psychic attacker. Raticate's Hyper Fang is still kicking ass for now, but he's probably not long for this world, Primeamp kind of stole his thunder.
>>11902746>MewYou better not loose
>>11902987It's exclusively an HM slave and will only (eventually) level up when I get the EXP ALL

>>11903124I have a backup of my LVL 35 save in case we're doing a tournament ... I can upload it here later during the day
I just want to say one thing: Skarmory
Make of it what you will.
>>11902980This playthrough I'm using Mr. Mime for the first time ever. I gave it Thunder Wave, went to fight the Butterfree lv.20 trainer and realized that those two serve really similar functions. Paralysis+Confusion combo is truly vicious.
>>11903813Yep, it's a vicious combo. I was using Mr. Mime on my team earlier but I've replaced him now. I like his defensive abilities, he's just a powerhouse overall.
I'm just now reading about the early Pokemon games ... I found out there was a thing called the "Mobile Adapter GB", which let you plug a Game Boy into a mobile phone and then call someone to have a pokemon battle. That's such a clever thing, I never knew that existed. And of course, it was only in Japan ... They were always ahead of us in vidya development.

So far I have 3 save files for the tournament, Magik and Lawton uploaded theirs, Hikaru is an online friend of mine so I have his updated file which he will upload later.

>>11904521how old are you?
>>11904521I think you need to be introduced to the concept known as subjectivity. To me, the SGB palettes looks like shit - it's garish and the colors detract from the spritework. It's a half measure because they weren't able to use real color like on the Game Boy Color. The game was meant to be played in monochrome.

This should be my (Faravid's) save file for Level 36. I think my pokemons are either level 35, or level 36 here, since I've kept on playing since then. I might also have an Articuno in my company, I don't quite remember when I caught him ... In any case I would like to sign up for the tournament.
I can't remember the last time I managed to catch a Dratini in the Safari Zone... pretty stoked
>>11904938Good work Anon. Are you playing on Blue or Red? I would be interested in trading for some of the Blue exclusive pokemons, if anyone has them.
>>11904950thx fren, I'm playing Yellow this time around (it was my first back during pokemania)
I'm looking for BLUE exclusive pokemons like Magmar, Pinsir and Meowth. In return I can trade RED exclusive ones like Electabuzz, Scyther, Mankey, Growlithe and Gloom. I'd also trade away my Charmeleon (around Level 25) for either a Bulbasaur or a Squirtle, or any of their upgraded forms.
Going to bed right now because I'm EU and it's getting late, if anyone wants to trade I will be able tomorrow.
>>11905012i can see how many of those i can get and get back to you

why?
>>11906501Agreed. Stop shitting up the thread.
This is the team post-Koga. And goddamn, that anon was right, the trainers in Kogas gym are harder than Koga himself, the first trainer with the level 38 Hypno nearly wiped me with Psychic only.
>Ostr the Doduo replaced Vult the Fearow>Cani the Vulpix who I cant wait to evolve to Ninetales after it finally learns all the moves, so far hes just dead weight>Sphe the Electrode, Gnai the Graveler and Illu the Hypno are carrying hardNext stop is Safari Zone + Seafom where Ill catch a Seal to replace Torr the Wartortle.
Then Ill have the definitive team I think.
>>11906273>>11906398the only way someone would think the SGB or Stadium released before the monochrome GBs is if they weren't around at the time

>>11906734Psychic is insanely strong. I taught it to my Slowbro. I almost hesitate to use it though, because it doesn't seem to be weak against anything (except for other Psychic type pokemons). It's like too much power.

McLovin catching up. I got a couple of challenges down in the Erika fight:
- Defeat a Gym Battle in 6 turns or less (took 6 turns)
- Win a major Trainer battle without taking any damage
- Win a major Trainer battle with only one Pokemon without using items
- Use the very first Pokemon you caught to defeat a major Trainer battle (Spearow caught on Route 22)
- Win a major Trainer battle while only using one damaging move the entire fight (Fly x3)

>>11906986Yo, I'm a bit late to respond, but thank you so much, it worked perfectly. I'm currently in the process of powerlevelling Pincer, he's my new secret weapon. Magmar too, I taught him Fire Blast, but he's the weakest member of the crew right now, I might just replace him with my old buddy Marowak, haven't decided yet.

Giusepi here.
I'll be out of town this week, but I wasn't going to be participating in the tournament anyway. Migrating to 3DS VirtualConsole so I can make progress on this week's milestone in my downtime, though updates will be limited.

Monochrome palettes are pleasant to look at as long as you don't go out of your way to make a purposefully bad one.

What the heck, this is crazy. I don't usually look up what things do, but I had a hunch that there was something off about "Focus Energy". I've used it on Marowak before and it didn't seem to do anything. Although if the text is true (it's from Bulbapedia) it would make it very powerful to use in the tournament in Stadium.

>>11908497Complain to Nintendo, it's their emulator.
>>11909083Let us play retro games in peace.
>>11909045>pictureYo what's that from? Is it a 3DS? I had a Nintendo DS many years ago, but now there are so many different models, I can't tell them apart.
>>11909118>Is it a 3DSYep. It doesn't matter which model, since they all play games the same.
You'd be better off with an emulator handheld nowadays though, this is just what I have.
>>11909141Alright cool, thanks for the response. I was curious about 3DS but if we're playing Pokemon Gold / Silver next i'm definitely going to emulate on my PC.
>>11908740yeah if it were fixed it'd be extremely good given its users would end up having something like 35-75% crit rate with regular attacks, depending on who uses it. this is because critical hit rates in gen 1 are determined by a pokemon's base speed value. marowak doesn't get as much value out of it as something like raticate or beedrill, for example. but for the slower folk, there's always swords dance.
>>11909264Swords Dance is super powerful and I'm using it on my Pinsir, but I'm sort of glad that Focus Energy is bugged because if it had worked properly it would have been kinda broken
>>11909280on every pokemon who has it focus energy would still be weaker than swords dance, for the most part. this is because as with crit rate, critical hit damage is also handled differently in this generation, and skipping the details of it, it settles out to doing less than double your normal damage, with swords dance effectively doubling it in a single use. focus energy is also unstackable, while swords dance can be used multiple times.
>>11909319Are you sure about that though. What if you used Swords Dance and the attack was a crit.
boosting does introduce, for better or worse, the possibility of a "fumble" of sorts when you roll a crit and do your ordinary unboosted damage (though you're still doing an unboosted critical hit, which is a much smaller difference than not critting at all), yes, but likewise no pokemon with focus energy has 100% crit rate after using that.
>>11909340Interesting, thanks for the insight. It's fun to learn about the depths of these mechanics after all these years, as a kid playing these games I just had no idea what was going on "under the hood" so to speak. I just hit everything with Hyper Fang and Fire Spin.
messed up the quote link there ...
>>11909332crits ignore stat buffs
>>11909351it's because i deleted the post to add a correction, not your fault. the correction being that a crit while buffed does ignore your buffs, but it's still a crit at the end of the day so it comes close to what one swords dance was giving you. it's only a serious dropoff if you stack SDs.
>>11909356Huh, that's interesting.
I'm getting too far ahead, I didn't expect to get so addicted to this old game. I'm pretty sure I've defeated every trainer encounter in the overworld by now, I just beat Giovanni, and the only way forward is Indigo Plateau. It really is true what that old man on Route 14 said, that Pokemons are like peanuts, you just can't stop.
Also I really came to like Pincer, thanks again for the trade. His Attack stat is absolutely wild. He has a move called "Guillotine" that seems to one-hit any pokemon (when it hits), I used it on Giovanni's Nidoking in the Vermilion gym with great effect.
I decided to not have Magmar on the team, I just fell in love with Marowak, even though his stats aren't the best I just love that guy for some reason, and felt like I had to bring him.
>>11909949Why would you ruin your Pinsir by teaching it fucking CUT????
>>11909959In gen 1, using an X accuracy will make the OHKO moves something like 99.6% accuracy.
>>11909972Crazy. It's almost broken how good that is. Maybe there's a way to counter it.
>>>/vp/
Eat shit mods. You have a containment board for a reason, use it.
>>11909959>>11909983in the first generation, guillotine, horn drill, and fissure will be able to work on anything that is slower than the user, instantly killing them at a 30% success rate no different than your average mudo cast in an smt game. this has the unfortunate effect of making rhydon quite bad at using both horn drill and fissure, but it also means that particularly fast pokemon such as rapidash can use these to great effect even on pokemon at higher levels than themselves.
generation 2 onward removed the speed aspect, but then added a restriction that makes these moves unable to work on anything that is not of equal or lower level than the user. the end result of this, unfortunately, is that these moves have been largely worthless in any practical scenario for the last 26 years.
Alright, I'm off to bed, will play more later. Can't wait to play Gold / Silver after this, I never even tried those games before. They look a lot better, with color / animations and such. I was even considering bringing my 'mons over from this run, but I guess that would be cheating ...
>>11910098>Can't wait to play Gold / Silver after this, I never even tried those games before.damn i wish this was me
>>11910103Good romhacks tend to give me that feeling of playing Pokemon for the first time again.
>>11910098As much as I love Gen 1, whenever I come back to play it, I get more appetite for Gen 2. The problem is that I always seem to end up with the same team. It's not as bad as Diamond and Pearl where you're basically funneled into using the same four Pokemon every time, but maybe this time around I'll play Crystal instead, just so I'm not inclined to catch Mareep again.
>>11911128>As much as I love Gen 1, whenever I come back to play it, I get more appetite for Gen 2Yeah I've been feeling the same as I've been playing Pokemon Red.
And this is how the team looks post Saffron. Im really enjoying the Dewgong, its incredibly sturdy. I dont think ill make changes to the team from this point on. So it will be

>dodrio
>graveler
>hypno
>electrode
>ninetales
Think Ill catch some pokemon while waiting for OP to allow us to progress in the playthrough
>>11912090nice team Anon. I like Graveller, he's badass. Seems like you and I are similar, we both dislike using Grass type / Poison pokemons.
>>11912086it also gets some pretty fun moves
>>11912394I remember as a kid we always saw Seel as fairly strong (also Dewgong of course). Other Pokemons that we thought were really overpowered were Kangaskhan, and all of the fossil pokemons (I'm not sure if there was any science behind that, we were kids and probably just learned that by schoolyard rumors or something)
>>11912394Seel and Dewgong are definitely my favorite water/ice types. Using Shellder this time though.
>>11909045>>11908497If you hold L+R while a game is running and then press Y, you can switch to a green screen filter
>>11912605Oh cool, I didn't know that.
I won't be doing it, but it's neat that you can.
>>11909141>You'd be better off with an emulator handheld nowadays thoughOne big advantage of the 3DS VC is that it supports link cable stuff with local wireless, if you have someone else who has one of course. It was cool that I could relive nostalgia with my brother that way. I think the only emulator handheld that you can actually do multiplayer with is the Analogue Pocket since it has an actual link cable port.
>>11912618There's a bunch of emulation handhelds that can do it via Retroarch netplay. It's pretty seamless too, just gotta be in the same wifi network.
>>11912636Nice, when I checked just a couple years ago all the documentation said it wasn't possible for GameBoy stuff, must have been a recent development. Does it have infrared support too?
>>11912618Neat, but I don't see myself using this in the foreseeable future.
>>11912646>Does it have infrared support too?Doubt it, never looked into it though.
Finally playing catch up.
Got through Rock Tunnel, beelined it to Saffron to make Mew even more OP and tested it out on the Dojo. Cleared out Rocket HQ and got started on Pokemon Tower. Also decided to train up the Magmar I caught earlier. Delaying badges right now as I wanna do Koga next.
Major Trainer battle / Gym battle counts versus the Elite Four? Yea I know I'm way ahead of where I should be ... Sorry guys. I'm NEET:ing and I ended up getting addicted to this game. I beat Bruno's entire lineup using only my Slowbro, it took exactly 6 turns, I had to hit his Machamp twice because he didn't fall to the first Psychic hit, hso I finished him off with a Confusion.
I sort of regret not teaching my Slowbro Amnesia. I'm going through blind, so I don't look up what moves do. I've been writing down every TM in my notebook as I've been playing, and I'm using the experimental method to figure out what they actually do, to sort of limit myself and have more of a sense of wonder while playing. That's why I didn't know what Amnesia did, I only found out at Lorelei when she used hers, that it raises the Special stat dramatically ... That's really powerful, haha. But that's the kind of hit that you have to take when you're playing this way.
>>11912618Almost every retro handheld can do multiplayer, you mongoloid
>>11912134Thanks, Im hoping to trade Graveller and evolve it to Golem after he has learned all the moves.
I think Im going to try and catch Articuno and Zapdos, any tips?
Ive noticed in the Safari Zone that Pokemon can sometimes just block your pokeballs.
Is this something that happens only in the Safari Zone? Or can it happen with regular pokemon?
I think pic related is what Ive seen happen, I didnt remember this bullshit at all.
>>11913843This happens if the catch chance is 0%.
Not getting the ball shake is the game telling you to weaken it further, put it to sleep, or use a better ball.
>>11913843I was able to catch the legendary bird by weakening it to Yellow hitpoints, Sleeping it and throwing Ultra Balls. Make sure you bring at least a dozen balls though since you only get 1 chance at catching it.
Why did they rename hyperballs into ultraballs in the english release anyway?
>>11913969lol that's weird. Good question. I think that both "Hyper" and "Ultra" sound cool. Maybe it was simply to distinguish them from Hyper Potions in the menu.
With the Poke Flute and Fuchsia accessible I got up to some shenanigans.
Duped some items don't worry, the Rare Candies will only be used to bring those Lv 7s up to speed and went on a bit of a catching spree. Noticed my Mew had a Special of 74 so I bagged an Articuno using the Ditto trick. Also evolved some Pokemon and filled out the party with a Primeape.
>>11914050The funny thing is that with gen 7 they introduced an Ultra Ball. Had to be renamed to Beast Ball in the english games.
>walk into poison gym
>nothing but psychic types

circled back around to erika yesterday, with the outcome being pretty expected given even mid 20s is probably overleveled for her. did some thinking and have decided to make some team changes on a whim.
>>11913843>>11913861this isn't true actually. missing the pokemon is simply getting a "ball shakes 0 times" roll. in addition, because of the way the ball shaking animation works, if the HP or status aren't changed between throw attempts, it will play the same animation as your last throw, except if you successfully catch the pokemon.
so if you're "missing the pokemon" don't give up, you still have as much a chance as any other throw to get the capture.
>>11914259yeah, this game is from back when pokemon used to be a real video game.
Are we still doing challenges?
If so I did Koga in exactly 6 turns.
>>11914447I kinda feel like doing Erika last just for the hell of it. Is strength required for anything except Victory Road?
Also got all my party members fully evolved. That's enough for today.
>>11914475not to reach any gym leaders, no. it's used in seafoam islands though
>>11914490Erika won't know what hit her when I roll up with Lv 40+ Pokemon.
>>11914475>Is strength required for anything except Victory Road? There are certain boulders in the cave at Seafoam Islands, you need to push them into holes in the ground so they block the water current on the level below. I thought that was a really clever puzzle.
>>11913568Wait you already finished the game?
>>11914851I'm at the Elite Four right now, I decided to stop here and grind for a while because these guys have like LvL 60 pokemons. Good way to get XP.
>>11914827Considering I already have an Articuno I see little reason to visit Seafoam :^)
>>11914871I was so surprised during this playthrough to find out that there is a large cave system on Seafoam Islands. For some reason, I did not remember that at all from back when I played this in my childhood.
>>11914886being able to skip it entirely by just flying home and surfing south has always just been too free, yeah.
>>11914902I've always enjoyed Pokemon games a lot more when I minimized use of Fly. The game's aren't exactly large enough to warrant fast travel.
I softlocked my game by forgetting about having a stack of 255 items in my inventory and it deleting my card key...
I'm a fucking retard.
>>11916098I like Teleport.
>>11916248As a kid I wasn't even aware of the function of Teleport, I thought it was a completely useless move that only Abra used to avoid being caught.
On a tangent; I thought you should really be able to ride around on your Ponyta, like the same function as the Bike essentially. Yhat would have been cool. Maybe other pokemon as well.
>>11916256Honestly they missed the opportunity to have specific Pokemon have unique abilities to use in the field, like in the old Capsule Monsters pitch. They eventually rectified that with Pokemon Ride but it's not the same. Imagine reaching for items out of reach with Venusaur's vines or cutting grass and bushes with Scyther.
>>11916306>Imagine reaching for items out of reach with Venusaur's vines or cutting grass and bushes with Scyther.I like it. I've only ever played Gen 1 Pokemon games, so I have no idea how far they went with these sort of gimmicks in the later games. But in my opinion it's very cool.
>>11916232Never knew this was a thing, RIP. Also having to manually change boxes in the PC is a drag in gen I.
>>11916524Well stacks aren't normally supposed to go higher than 99 so it's down to me fucking around too much.
Thankfully I had a backup and only lost like 90 minutes of playtime.
I've been writing down every TM while playing. The ones I'm missing are: 8, 15, 23, 31, 49 and 50. At this point I don't mind if any of you guys "spoil" it for me.
I beat the Elite Four (yeah I raced ahead, sorry again guys) and started on Cerulean Cave. Also started levelling a Jolteon. I'm planning to bring trade my pokemons over onto my save in Gen 2 when we start playing that, just because that seems like a cool thing to do.
My Gengar totally carried in the final battles. He's just strong against everything. Hypnosis + Dream Eater combo works on most every pokemon, he also has Confuse Ray + Night Shade which (it seems) there is no resistance against. His Speed and Special stats are ludicrously high, even when he was Level 52 and squaring off against Agatha's Level 60 Gengar, he still got to go first. He's an absolute powerhouse and it feels like cheating when he fights for me.
>>11914447https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4O3Ru0Bj9S8
alas, in the process of fighting trainers to onboard new pokemon for my team, i feel as though i've gotten a bit overleveled for this gym. yellow's LV50 kadabra and alakazam were definitely a fun change, but that isn't what i'm playing
>>11916368it really doesn't ever get any better than this, unless you look into Pokemon Ranger, which is essentially an entire video game about doing this... but doesn't have the main rpg part of the game in it, either.
>>11917027night shade does true damage equal to your current level, and nothing is immune to it in this game. seismic toss works the same way. in gen 2, however, both of these moves do respect type immunities (night shade won't work on normal, and seismic toss won't work on ghost).
>>11917027Three of those are in the Game Corner and TM08 is unavailable after S.S. Anne. Shame, since it's one of the best TMs in the game. As for trading in your team to Gen 2, you have to be aware that they're going to disobey you until you have a certain badge. Getting some low level transfers from Gen 1 could be pretty interesting to round off a GSC team after Bugsy, Diglett especially comes to mind (you can't get it until post game).
>>11917353>Three of those are in the Game Corner and TM08 is unavailable after S.S. Anne. Thanks for the info, I've completely skipped the game corner. I dread it though, gambling minigames are not my thing.
>>11917353three badges are required to trade with gen 1
>>11917367Right, after you meet Bill, I forgot. Still, that makes lv. 25 the sweet spot to trade for the Morty fight.
>>11917438level 25 is overleveled for morty
Bros, whats a good standalone emulator to use on the PC? I think ill start playing on the PC, instead of on the phone. Is VBA still a thing?
>>11917214THats a scary team anon, very solid picks. I never ever had the patience to use the Dratini line, because of how late it evolves to Dragonite.
>>11917786bgb is still the best gb emulator
>>11917809I'm more of a sameboy man
>>11917790as much as i wanted to rep underrated guys like dewgong, pinsir and electrode, the crowd in this thread actually used a few all on their own so i pivoted to a dragon team to go with the "tamer" sprite.
>Critical damage hits do not benefit from Attack stat increases such as Swords Dance
Am I understanding this correctly?
Cleaned out Silph, got some Master Balls, caught Zapdos, read some lore and Cloyster made easy work of Blaine. Three more to go.
>>11917358You can reenter the S.S. Anne using a glitch if you really want that TM completion.
When is OP letting us progress further?
>>11919189We should technically be on week 4 i.e. 8 badges.
Yep, according to the 1-bracket-per-week logic we should be in the final bracket now. Last week was 6 badges and 50 level cap, Now should be 8 badges and no level cap.
There are 7 Pokemons I haven't "seen" yet: Venusar, Poliwrath, Omastar, Kabutops, Porygon, Mew and Mewtwo. I'm not sure if I even want to try and "Catch 'em all", but I would love to at least have seen them all, so they register in the Pokedex. I do know where Mewtwo is, and I still have my Master Ball ...
>>11919320I could give you my save file with a Mew and Venusaur in my party. If you battle it that should register them as seen.
>>11919341Sure man, I would really appreciate that.
>>11919343https://litter.catbox.moe/1qqpr46c1ai6frsl.srm
for Pokemon Blue
>>11919353Awesome, thanks. I'll check it out when I get back home.
>>11918315yes, the same way they ignore debuffs to your attack and buffs to your enemy's defense. critical hits use both combatants' original stats
ID No 40231 back for the last challenge for badges 1-4.
>4 different super-effective moves on 1 pokemon
I'm a little behind but the challenge seemed too interesting to pass up. I had to really think about how to make it work before badge 4, I'm not some super nerd. Caught a few understudies to be at a minimum level to use their moves, and used the poke doll trick to beat Lavender early and sneak down the docks with the flute so I could face a Venonat with the type and toughness I wanted. Stringsley slept him and my slightly renamed original Beedrill finished the job.
>>11920635That's impressive. You deserve that award.
>>11920648Thanks, yeah I was glad it actually worked
>>11920635whack
That's the one challenge I knew I wouldn't do because it requires too much setup.
>>11917214>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4O3Ru0Bj9S8I said to myself "C'mon get Kangaskhan out, you will whop his ass" and then you did, it was the perfect timing.
