But yeah Final Fight is hard even on normal difficulty. The thing is the game coudn't be played fatefully on anything else than it original arcade (and X68K in japan) and that for nearly 2 decades.

Exploits like that are how you 1cc higher difficulty beat em ups, pretty much universally. The really great beat em ups aren't JUST about doing that or have other ways to play, but that kind of cheese exists in basically all of them.

I can still load the game up and pull off a 1cc now and them.
Crowd control, learning how to deal with El-Gado, Andore and raging Bill bulls are key to this game.

The devs intended for you to beat the game on one credit. Proof: they included a special ending if you did. The ending was basically removed for the US version because devs knew that skill-less western insects would just credit feed to the end and not play the game for real. That’s also why they ramp up the difficulty in the westerm versions of arcade games.
