Talk about games you never see anyone talking about.
I'm playing Obscure right now. It's a survival horror game released in 2004. Its main gimmick is that it can be played in co-op, though I'm playing solo and the partner AI is kinda dumb, but the game is still fun.
I remember playing the sequel on my PS2 back in the day as a kid, but never finished it.

Played it with my brother back in the days. We both watched a lot of slasher movies growing up, so we had a blast with the game.

Pandemonium is one of the most criminally forgotten games I know. It was a best selling, critically acclaimed and influencial game. Can you think of another "2.5D" platformer in that style before Pandemonium? and I'm not talking about Bug, that's a completely different style, I'm talking about the way the game handles rotation and multi paths in the level design which became standard for 2.5D platformers like Klonoa or N64 Goemon. You can't because there isn't one, Pandemonium came up with the blueprint and everyone knew about the game back then.

Meanwhile when's the last time you heard someone talk about Pandemonium except on here?

Clive Barkert Undying. Pretty esoteric story and the mansion is big and beautiful. Kinda loses steam when you leave.

>>11932870
Have not beaten it yet but made great progress. Game is bad honestly. And its not because of RE4, early PS2 game Extermination was good but Cold Fear is bad.
Its only RE4 esque when you aim. Afterward it plays like say Silent Hill but bad.
The ship moving doesnt help. No map, no inventory management, enemies dropping health packs or rare aid kits is annoying.
That said still worth a try.

Keepsake
Keepsake
md5: 25e57f108e16035b50a4baad095614ba๐Ÿ”
I saw Keepsake adds a couple times in magazines which let me to believe it's a bigger deal that it actually was. The studio behind it actually made only one other game beside this game, a sort of tactic game on ds released five years after Keepsake. But Keepsake is a point'n'click fantasy puzzle game set in a magical academy where everyone mysterious disappeared. You play as Lydia, a newcomer to the school, who goes to meet her long time no see friend only to find the whole building completely empty.
Surprisingly the game cost only 1 dollar on Steam. Like it's not discounted, it's the regular price. I'm used to seeing prices at least five times bigger, even for older obscure games, so I found that odd but I ain't complain. I've played it a bit. It's a pretty charming game, which so far makes up for the gameplay being mostly running around empty screens and occasional doing puzzles.

I feel like Tobal 2 is one of those games that only gets mentioned in the context of its trivia (the "over 200 characters" or whatever tidbit, a number it reaches largely due to Quest Mode).

Despite this game's popularity I rarely see anyone talk about it.

That's because it's popular as a clout game. Hipsters claim they love it and that it's art and etc. but nobody actually plays it because A) these same hipsters just watch playthroughs from other people, AT MOST and B) it's not actually a fun game, so there's not really any draw for the average gamer, who will likely also watch it on youtube at most.

Love this game.
Should've been a hit.

It's a decent game, it's just way too long. If it was split in two parts, it'd have been more widely pooular.

I can't imagine getting Primal mixed up with a launch PS2 game. The visuals are insanely good.

I always be wonderin' why they called it I-Ninja n' shit. Was it just because of the popularity of the iMac?

It's a fine game, it's basically a Zelda game.

Agreed on it being too long, I genuinely thought the game was over just to learn. I only was halfway done, there's not really anything new to the second half so it gets pretty boring outside of the bosses.

It's interesting to sometimes look at console launch titles and see so many of them fell into memory hole. Like Smuggler's Run. PS2 launch title that no only had favorable scores but also was made by Rockstar itself. First time I've even heard about this game.
