Lately i've been getting into old mooks and art books from fighting games and such. I ran into the Twinkle Star Sprites one and found it pretty cute. Any other shmup artbooks you'd reccomend checking out?

I was going to recommend you play Twinkle Star Sprites because it's incredible.

Also, i've read there is a DOJ Illustration Art Book, but haven't been able to find it online. Anyone here has it or knows where i can find it? I'd appreciate the help

Finally a good fucking thread.
But yea, TSS is all around such an incredibly sovlful and cute product. Game is good, artbook is good, you even get a handy guide for formations and decently useful tips to play characters later, and lore for people who care about that.

Did you know they had a Dark Sprites in mind? There's some concept art of hers and everything, but she got scrapped somewhere in the way. Wish they had made her, it would have been kino.

If I get this right, Sprites is some sort of legendary fairy spirit able to temporarily possess other big fairies such as Ran and Memory(but not Tinker&Linker because they are minor fairies? not sure), the "Sprites" you see in-game is specifically fused with Ran - and Dark Ran is a body double created with Earth magic by Mevious, and cannot host Sprites let alone control her. Maybe he can just reproduce transformed Ran though, he appears to be really powerful in that sense.
