turbo express is just a portable turbografx.
there were only a handful of games that even supported link cable multiplayer, like the bomberman games, columns, puzzle boy and spin pair

If the PCE is 16 bit then any system with any 16 bit attributes is as well. That's at least a few more obscure things. And obviously you forgot the nomad.

It being a portable turbografx was actually preferable to it having its own library imo.

For one thing, if you were already a TG6 owner the library you already owned worked on your portable console. That's not a bad thing. And while there were some good handheld games being made at this time most of them were just gimped versions of console games. So a handheld that could play actual console games was going to give you an overall better library.

One of my many personal tragedies is that I was one of the twenty people in North America to have a TG16 but was too much of a poorfag to also afford the CD add-on or the Express.

Dear God, that is tragic. I had a PCE and CD before you even had a TG16. The only thing more tragic is that there was almost nothing worth playing for the first year of the life of the CD.

I miss my Nomad. It had a soulful blurry screen and I ran it on a shitty chink AC that would instantly power off if you held it the wrong way. I rage broke the power switch after game overing for the thousandth time in Columns 3 hard mode.

Hybrid 16-bit Machine. The main CPU is a custom 6502, but all the main graphics chip (suzy) is 16bit.

Powered by a turbocharged 6502, but it is still an 8-bit CPU. But the graphics core and other components are 16-bit. As others have said, it is a portable PCE/ TG-16.

Why? It's no different from the Turbo Express. A portable Genesis/ Mega Drive. Has a 16bit Motorola 68000.
