Somehow...somewhere along the way Civilization was with me my entire life. I started with Civilization 2 and played every iteration including the horrific current Civ 7.

The thing is..alcoholism and whatnot has left me very little memory of anything before Civ 5. I remember Civ 4 "felt" the best, and Civ 3 you could slowly build your palace or something like this.

Remind me..what was Civ 2, Civ 3, and civ 4 like..and what distinguish them from each other?

Have you considered simply not drinking alcohol?

Only played civ 1 briefly so can't be the judge of that one.

Civ 2 on the other hand I played religiously on my psp via ps1 emulator. What really pulls it down is that you only got 2 victory conditions and only one viable strategy on deity which was REXing.

Civ 3 never played since it seemed like 4 but worse in every way

Civ 4 was first civ I felt bloat settle in. Sure it was great, especially for modding but there was too much already as well as some broken Civs (Inca). Then came BtS and bloat became so much that features were left only for player to use, not AI.

But if I was forced to play only one civ, I'd play 4 if CivRev isn't an option since its an actual Civ 2.5 and adresses all of its issues.

The funnest thing for me about this is putting it on the lowest difficulty with the most players and the biggest map then just trying to kill everyone. Anything but the lowest difficulty punishes you heavily if you try.
