The only cancelled games that legitimately hurt me are not retro. MML3 obviously and Cry On by Cavia/Mistwalker

Someone's going to say Earthbound 64, but it pains me that Itoi had something bigger in mind for Earthbound where you actually get to travel to other planets and such.

The PS3 generation had a lot of disappointments.

starwars battlefront 3 (not the EA ones) there is a reason why people still talk about and make maps and mods for a game that came out 20 years ago. with the tech advancements moving from the early 2000s to the mid and late 2000s we should have gotten starwars battlefront 2 but larger and even better.


fast forward to EA in 2014 making battlefront they somehow made everything smaller more boring and with less freedom and less content but we just got photorealistic rocks and plants. the industry has been over since then. all they needed to do was do what swbf2 2005 did but make it 25 or 33% larger with moderately better graphics. its retarded. it should have been a slam dunk.


there i an alternate timeline where a proper star wars battlefront 3 was made and it would have had support for years and it would have had like 30 or 40 maps and it would have supported a shit load of players from 10-20 per side up, 30-40 per side, and an XL mode with 50 or 60 per side.


every year that passes there is less and less of an excuse why there is no official starwars game that authentically recreates the large scale battles of geonosis, hoth, endor, etc with massive online battles. i just want to be 1 clone trooper running around on a giant map with like 50 other guys on my side who are all real players going against a massive droid team complete with every vehicle and weapon that should be there.

Sonic X-Treme.

I love janky 3D platformers from the 5th console generation, and I love subpar Sonic titles, so I'm sure I would've loved this.

That one Tony Hawk game where you could get off your skateboard and climb around the city, I remember seeing screenshots in a magazine and it sounded sounded super cool.

I love 2D pixel art RPGs so I would have been genuinely fascinated by the original incarnation of FF7. Hot take but I think FF8 was the first truly impressive 3D final fantasy game.
