Sonic The Hedgehog
Just finished playing the main 4 on Sonic Origins on a modded Switch.
As of now I've done all the good endings for:
Sonic 1, 2, 3&K, CD
Sonic Mania
Sonic Frontiers
I was thinking of going to Generations, but the appeal just isn't as heavy, what do you guys recommend I go to next?

Sonic Adventure is really good, man, and it's the real Sonic 4 as far as I'm concerned. It's got the best levels of any 3D Sonic game, Sonic controls like a dream, the music kicks ass and the story is actually decent. There's no bad version of Sonic Adventure, though most people will recommend the PC version with the Dreamcast Conversion mod. However you play it, I think you're gonna love it if you enjoyed the 2D Sonics.

It's an objectively better delivery for all of the games. I even loved having the extra opportunities at the bonus stages, since I have a lot of work through the day.

Damn I sure hope so. I remember playing some of the first levels in a modded gamecube at a house I shared with some friends. I've always heard a lot about SA2 and even started it on an emulator. However, the controls were kinda off even with a controller connected. Maybe it was a skill issue, regardless, I bought the Steam version of both and will play them!
Is the Dreamcast Conversion mod the only one needed?

Yeah, it has a handy installer too, which is extra helpful if you have the Steam version since it'll patch the Steam version to work with mods.

also i haven't played origins but i think they removed ice cap zone's song because it was based on a copyrighted song, so if they did go listen to that because it's an amazing track.

Sonic 3 AIR is much better than the Origins version. There's a switch port afaik.
Oh, that looks nice. I just moved back home and realized I forgot my wifi cable, but once I get a new one I'll definitely check it out. I'm on Switch and Macbook right now.
I actually have an answer to the "why haven't you played it" question. I've tried to get into Sonic a lot over the years, even back when I was a kid playing things like Final Fantasy Sonic. But none of the games ever clicked for me. It wasn't until I started watching some video essays and got hooked on the soundtrack that I forced myself to finish one game. I started with Sonic Mania, and it wasn't too shabby. I guess my taste for Sonic was acquired lol, but I'm addicted now.
Sonic Rush? I tried it and just couldn't get into it. I hated not being able to see or predict obstacles, I felt like I was constantly sliding into a wall. It felt like I was being cucked, lol. I don't know if that's a stupid take, but it just didn't feel good to play.
I mainly got a 1tb SD card for the modding, but I'll definitely be buying the games on Switch 2 now. I didn't have any performance issues except with Frontiers, and I guess that wasn't fixed on Switch 2.
Mania is great, the bonus stages are a blast. It's funny, after playing it before the other games, I realized a lot of the Mania levels are almost exact copies of past levels, but I loved it and plan on replaying it on Switch 2. The soundtrack is amazing too, it's tied with Sonic CD for my favorite.
What is Sonic 3 AIR? I've got Google, but I'm curious to hear your opinion on it.

It's a fan made port of Sonic 3 that came out before Origins. It has widescreen, the original music, improved special stages and plenty of other features.
Origins fucked up a few things, like the flying spinners in the third zone.
