Action Comics #1 sold exactly 200,000 copies in 1938 because that's exactly how many they printed. Less than 100 copies of it still exist in any quality, and most of them aren't the kind of quality that fetches a $1 Million price tag. It was printed on paper and sold with no slip cover, and most copies were thrown away.
All these Silent Hill games sold a similar number of copies, and all the Resident Evil games sold 1 million+. Because they are a good that inherently had a resale market, even if it was just a few dollars, most of them were not thrown away, and are still sitting in houses, closets, and warehouses somewhere. Hundreds of thousands of copies of these games still exist, and thousands of them are on sale at any given time. WATA is a money laundering scheme and if you are dumb enough to buy WATA graded trash over ungraded shit on ebay, in game stores, or literally ANY BOOK OR GAME STORE IN JAPAN, you deserve to lose your money.
Here's the secret that people don't realize: Gen X and younger Americans with money are REALLY STUPID. The entirety of younger generations who are new money are only new money because of nepotism and being friends with the right people who hired them and overpay them. They feel an inherent NEED to spend all the money they make so they can feel like a big shot because despite making well over $250,000 a year they have a 90 IQ. So they will purposefully pay too much money for things on purpose to raise the price of those things out of the price range that poors can pay so they can feel superior to them. If they find out they got ripped off, they think, "Oh based, just proves I can afford to spend it, haha." They drive around in soda-stained $80,000 vehicles looking for any opportunity to blow $300 a day on junk while telling everyone to keep the change. By the end of the decade they will have spent millions of dollars on games that they'll lose money on. Happened with comics in the 90s, will happen with games too.
