Why did Shinji Mikami want to remake Resident Evil? The original was perfectly fine and held up.

You might be joking but it's actually possible, especially considering that before Iwao intervened, Mikami's RE was going to have ghosts and shit, which fits with the haunted mansion aesthetic of the remake

In the original the helipad note mentions government officials and Umbrella executives, meanwhile the remake removes any government connection and Iwao always wanted the government conspiracy to keep going, so you might be correct.

Chris isn't hard in REmake, just more annoying item juggling and you get the shotgun later (in both remake and original)

The remake makes his small inventory even more annoying because REmake has 84 key items compared to just 47 in the original

Oh, had totally forgotten about it, the remake version is not as explicit, but I think it's pretty obvious that Umbrella must've had some higher-level backing/funding, they weren't selling their bio-weapons to the average Joe or small militias. The most unrealistic thing is that there weren't any other companies doing this, or that countries weren't doing in-house research too

It was easy way to crank out a mainline RE game quickly and get current with dev for next gen systems.

Development started in 2000 after CODE Veronica finished, the original Resident Evil 4 had permutated into Devil May Cry and RE0 on N64 was in a tail spin. CAPCOM received gamecube sdks and received a lot of dev support from Nintendo. There was a risk of no mainline Resident Evil titles for 3-4 years due to ballooning development complexity and the series loosing steam.

Choosing RE1's to remake was a no brainer since the scenario was both pre baked and is basic bitch shit. Minimal characters to model, low boss/enemy modeling count both in terms of enemies on screen and variation of character models/environs, both characters fight the same bosses, in the same order, do the same puzzles, in the same places so no need for continuity oversight like RE2's zapping system. Full 3D was ditched early and the game was originally a 1:1 but mercifully they switched up a few things give it's gameplay it own flavor and play with 96s conventions.

REmake patches up a number of plotholes from the original, and improved the gameplay, voice acting, and soundtrack, as well as the graphics.

Why the fuck do you think he wanted to remake it, turbo-sperg?

It doesn't even address the biggest one of all: how all 5 STARS members escaped together. Barry is still completely absent in Chris's scenario and Rebecca in Jill's. They could have easily put them in a second cell down in the prison or shoved them in with the the other character, give them a line or two about Wesker capturing them, whatever. I guess adding a retarded looking Silent Hill reject and expanding the fan-favorite caves area took precedence.

Because the series went Gamecube exclusive so they thought they had to introduce the series to Nintendo fans.

>Yoshimura had several disagreements with Mikami about Jill's body shape. Yoshimura added a harness under her breasts to secure her shoulder pads and intended for Jill's chest to look like she was wearing a bra underneath her uniform.
>Originally, the uniform was all black to better fit S.T.A.R.S.' special operations nature, but it was later changed back to blue as in the original game. Some licensed action figures produced by NECA still used the black design. Yoshimura explained that the black uniform made her appear too sexy.
>Issues arose regarding Jill's outfit when the developers insisted her default outfit from Resident Evil 3: Nemesis be included. A meeting was held to decide the color of her underwear due to upskirt shots in parts of the game, going from white to black to light blue and back to black.
>Annoyed by the character designers' interest in Jill, Mikami had Katakai's team change several backgrounds to avoid upskirt shots.
Mikami is a fuckin tasteless fag and the game was good despite his involvement, not because of it.
