Do you genuinely care about "getting good" in a single player game? I can understand the desire of getting good at a multi-player game like a fighting game but getting good at something like a shooter? Just to beat your own score? That sounds incredibly boring and pointless when you can just play other games
Anonymous No.12151386 [Report]
If there's a score system in the game then you compare your score to others.

If a game is fun, it's fun to try to master it. Any activity is like this. I don't get why you find this incomprehensible.

I game specifically to mog normies, even in the single player realm. So I try to incorporate a few speedrunner techs into my runs and attempt deathless so I can still reign superior over the casual normie masses.

More gametime with fewer games is how you extract the most joy out of gaming. Don't be one of those reddit fake gamers with a million isos and roms that they never fucking play. Don't jump from game to game because you have backlog fomo. Play a game to mastery. If you didn't beat it on the hardest difficulty you didn't beat the game.

The reason to have many roms is that its pointless to download stuff like singular NEA roms when a no intro is so small.

you get more out of five playthroughs of the same action game (normal, hard, very hard, all medals etc) then you do out of one playthrough of 5 games. doing it your way you never engaged with the mechanics, all you did was look at the picture and press the button and coom. whats that got to do with video games. you should be watching tiktok or other such brainrot if you want to "surface level novel content"maxx

A lot of older games were designed with replaying it in mind. Personally, I'd say a good retro game is one you want to replay as those are the ones you go back You aren't focusing on "getting good" you are getting good from replaying it out of enjoyment. This ultimately comes down to personal taste. Everyone's definition of enjoyment changes as entertainment mediums are always subjective.

Simpson's fans are always dumb.
I don't care about execution as much as strategizing, because that's more interesting to me. I tend to like games that allow freedom rather than following patterns.

>I don't care about execution as much as strategizing

Strategy and execution are two different sides of the Get Good coin. A lot of people fail to comprehend that hence the number of people commenting that "you can't get good at an RPG", which are all strategy and no execution.

A player doing a 1CC of Final Fight just with repeating the starts he saw on youtube (=execution) will have NOT gotten as good as the player coming up with those starts to begin with (=strategy+execution).

I like getting the correct flow to succeed at something that felt very daunting originally. But I don't feel any drive to grind marginal improvements like scores

Although getting better second by second in racing games does feel good

I care about the challenge/fun ratio. Now, this can differ from game to game and genre to genre. If I'm playing a shmup, I do not want it to be easy, because the fun of shmups are the challenges. At the same time, too much bullet hell bullshit turns my dick inside out. If I'm playing a beat em up, I'm probably about to fall asleep and I just want an easy quick couple stages, like the Simpsons arcade or something. If a game hooks me enough, then yes I care about getting good.>>12157210
