Resistance actually follows workplace safety standards. The Empire does not care. If you tell them "I get something slightly wrong on this engine and it blows up and I die a miserable death.. can't you call Cid?", the Resistance waits for Cid but the Empire will threaten you with death, and threaten to enslave your entire family.

Many great authors have works where they forego characterization. This was obviously not a choice, but some kind of limitation from the hardware at the time. The presentation and themes of the whole game are too good for you to ignore them and only point out the one flaw.

This game is fun. The stat progression system made for a lot of different build possibilities and the story and writing were quite good for its time. I like getting teleport early on and grinding it up to lvl 6, you can disappear trash mobs and even some bosses with high efficacy.
