I mean like... no? Honestly you see more playable old guy characters in jrpgs than wrpgs - partially because they tend to go for ensemble casts more often. The main character is usually going to be the same - a 16-20 yo male in jrpgs and a 25-30 yo male in wrpgs, but you're much more likely to get an old guy in the jap stuff.

My favorite trope in video games. An old badass. Usually either overpowered or useless seems there's no middle ground.
