Gacha slop are not proper RPGs. They are shallow live service games designed primarily for coomers.

you'll play 20 trails games but suddenly one is online that gets updated over time and now it's "shallow"

Because it is.
There are only 2 outcomes for gachas. Either fails to get traction and its dropped/end gets rushed or its a hit and the story will never move forward or needlessly expand until every penny has been substracted off it.
Its the ultimate slop experience only beaten by live service games in shallowness.

Do not engage with gachashit
They don't have anything meaningful in them

>playing a turn based rpg where characters have a normal attack, an active skill and an ultimate
>tfw it's only 3 active ability if you count the normal attack
why do people even play this game or any other mobile-limited gacha shit?

I wish more devs would take the third options: release the game with all the content as offline version.

That's something they would ever do if it died, like what happened with Multiversus recently.

Gachas also rely on the gacha mechanic for player retention and is entirely balanced around it. So they wouldn't really get much better without it. Just look at games like Shadow of War that was balanced around lootboxes and other paid stuff.

It had about 2 years where it's only competition was SMTV and Metaphor. Thankfully the genre is coming back recently with 33 and some desirable remakes like trails in the sky. It served a purpose for me at one point, but I dropped it months back. The story is just incomprehensible, and they kinda ditched my favorite girl March 7th.

If anything the progression system Mihoyo has accidentally standardised among the chink generic gachatrash is an insult to the genre in and of itself.

The problem with that is that the developers need to have passion for the project and most of them dont care about the game enough to adaptit to single player. Its just a soulless product for them.

This dev is exactly doing that but the gacha was their 3rd game based on an IP they sold as standalone products. 99% of gacha devs dont give a fuck about their game.

Genshin was my first gacha and I remember getting really annoyed when I'd have a favorite and never see them in the story after their introduction. And if they don't get any decent fancontent you're boned.

>coming back with 33
It did nothing to bring it back and is distincly very western.
You won't get more western devs trying to do it and eastern devs don't care, since they do their own thing.
If anything the west would be more likely trying to ape of gacha games more since big companies, publishers and investors want cash cows and live service games.

Turn based is coming back in a big way with BG3 and exp33 proving that it can have mass appeal. I think your points are 2 years out of date. Also western devs don't even have any succesful turn based gacha, they're all JP imports or new chinese IP. Live Service games have proven to be a failure. Long standing franchises have proven they won't guarantee success on name power anymore. We're entering uncharted territory, with marketing focused on small teams during hours of presentations during Geoff Keighley's announcement shows. We already know the potential of indie titles (Schedule 1, Minecraft, Terraria).

Turn based was waiting for something to prove that making this type of game was still viable for a business. That happened, and now we wait to see what will come next. Exp 33 was french, and we know china is emerging in the space as Japan clings to it's franchises and loses more of its identity in media every year.

>Turn based is coming back in a big way with BG3 and exp33
It lever left, idiot. Both of those games also did turn based poorly, with E33 focusing more on it being flashy over good to appeal to casuals and BG3 just regurgitating DOS2 which in turn is bog standard with all the problem it entails.

>I think your points are 2 years out of date
And you're a clueless casual that barely plays games, especially turn based ones, if you think either of the ones you mentioned "brought back" turn based. That's the most casual take possible.

>Also western devs don't even have any succesful turn based gacha
On mobile they do. But you're just repeating what I said.

>Live Service games have proven to be a failure
Talk about ignorant. The most profitable western games are all live service. Fortnite, CS2, Dota 2, PUBG, Apex, Helldivers 2, Age of Conan, CoD, CoD Warzone, Rainbow Six Siege, Escape from Tarkov and the list goes on.
The appeal of live service is not just large revenue, but consistent and constant, which is what investors/publishers want the most.

I could go on, but everything about your post is wrong and ignorant. So why bother when you will ignore it all anyway and wallow in ignorance.
