Maybe only SMT can match it but those are mostly your party.
Most other RPGs use recolors (8 only really has Elvoret and Elnoyle plus the Aliens) or the enemies dont look as cool.
I cant think of any other RPG that has such a great enemy roster. From badass dragons to impressive machines.
FF9 is cool but I think it has too many joke enemies like the strongest enemies are some silly looking sheep.
What other RPGs can compete with FFVIII?

Even with recolors, the bestiary of later DQ games is pretty impressive.
And SMT should count, almost everything you can have in your party you need to face first.
