Is this game truly so bad that it deserves to be the only Ys game that has no official version released in America?

I'm actually playing it now and I wouldn't say it's BAD or anything. At least not bad enough to be so embarrassed of. But it is absolutely boring. I really don't mean this as a pun but it's just so dry. It lacks character. You show up in town, some rich merchant says get the plot things and that's it. Ys has always been one of the less plot focused series but it at least managed to give you something to latch onto. It's just dull.
