Phantasy Star II is good but so dated. Even then it felt fucking dated. It's best to use a guide for the maps, or play the remake on PS2 through emulation. They added QoL and extra stuff you can get through grinding battles (great equipment pretty early in the game if you're diligent, plus great items to heal your party you can stock for the end-game)
