Duriel
md5: cc7fdc99ffa197b708b2d5afbc86bdfe๐Ÿ”
ITT we post your least favorite, most hated boss in all of RPG-land. For me it's this fucker.

"Looking for Baal?" No you fucking piece of shit I'm looking for you so I can fist your sorry ass to death.

Seriously on any difficulty he can be a problem. When you first encounter him he blindsides you. On hardcore he's one of the most terrifying things to go up against. He's fast, he slows you down a ton, he face-tanks you, and every character has a hard time with him if not properly prepared.

Fuck you Duriel you chink of utter fucking horse smegma.

Breath of Fire? Really? The first game was a cinch from what I recall, and I played it as a kid. Which ones in particular stand out? Maybe I'm forgetting something. To be fair I always liked to grind a bit to destroy enemies in most RPGs so maybe that's why.

Oof. Yeah that battle is epic though, I fucking love it. I seriously wish Wiegraf had a bigger role to play, or came as a superboss revived later or something. His Zodiac form (what was it called, Vesuvius or something?) was legit horrifying and badass.

I never had a problem with that fight even my first time through simply because I did a lot of grinding and was a dual-wielding knight by then. Ramza wrecked his shit.

The damn iron maiden enemies in act 4 were bad. Especially for my frenzy barb. Until patch 10 that removed it.

I don't remember which enemies those are by name... the wraiths?

Even with freeze duration reduction he's a bitch and a half. Dude blitzes you and does crazy damage even if you aren't frozen, and if you're not frozen he still keeps up with you easily. I beat the game on Hell with every class in the past but still... he's probably the most unfair feeling boss fight overall. Too fast, too tanky, too strong, and freezes you.

Other notable pain in the ass is the final wave of minions before you fight Baal, whatever those creatures are called, the big dinosaur-like ones. They can spawn on Hell with some of the most awful modifiers.

... no, the entire point of your main character is to pass them and get dragon forms to be useful. You also need one for the good ending.

I always struggled more with the execution level. And if you save wrong, you're stuck there and can't grind higher. It was terrifying as a kid, but eventually I won. I do remember this scene in my brain though, a really cool game and battle. Idk why western turn based games repulse me, and yet, FFT was so amazing to me.

I fucking hate things of that nature. They usually give you more than enough time (if they're not absolutely fucking retarded) but even then it's so anxiety-inducing, especially when the timer keeps counting down when you or enemies use skills or spells that have long animations. THAT is an egregious design, especially if certain spells take 3-4x as long, and it's random which ones get used by the enemy. Could easily lose just because the RNG decided to go for the longer animated spells.

I will never enjoy Diablo 2 as much as I did before they nerfed the Bowazon's pierce and guided arrow combo. That was easily the most fun thing to play. I decimated everything solo on the highest of difficulties. I wish I could fuck up uber bosses with that old special.

For those who don't know they used to allow guided arrow to synchronize with pierce so that one fired arrow would rip back and forth between enemies multiple times. You would spam a few shots then watch a boss get torn to fucking pieces instantly by multiple stacked arrows slicing through them. You used multishot spammed out at mobs with a few GAP shots to kill champions. Easy as fuck but so satisfying.

Oof yes I remember that happening now that you mention it. I never liked hardcore play and still don't now because of lag and sync issues which can fuck you over. I have played "hardcore" with the character editor in D2 just to see how far I would get playing really carefully, but having the actual option to revive my file if I lost and wanted to keep going. I never beat Hell that way, but I did get really far so I was satisfied.
