So in a month we will receive another top tier CRPG like bg3.
Post your build.
>white male human
>lawful good
>20 levels of pure paladin
>either longsword and shield or greatsword havenโt decided yet
Peace was never an option
Seems like a very lazy cashgrab from the description on the Steam page.
20 monk/1 shadowdancer/7 assassin
>>3778717 (OP)Basic Bitch 27 Warlock/ 3 Hellfire Warlock. I miss my chain form fire spams like you wouldn't believe.
>>3778719>either longsword and shield or greatswordGreatsword for 1.5 Power attack bonus damage on smite evil.
>>3778722Aren't undead and spirits immune to Paralyze Sneak?
>>3778717 (OP)No you won't. It has barely any enhancement. They didn't even mention adding any new functions or fixing old ones, enhancements to the toolset, or anything like that. The game is dead on arrival.
>>3778717 (OP)Bard 3/Fighter 2/RDD 10/Frenzied Berserker 5
Bard is the certified protagonist class, and it gets you access to party-wide buffs and the best sidequest in the game. Be Human and take Able Learner at first level for access to all the useful skills. You could take 3 levels of Paladin instead of Fighter if you wanted some extreme cheese, but it's not at all necessary.
Buffs? Weapon enchantments? Crits? Who cares. Enjoy your natural 30 Strength and +35 damage to every attack with your greatsword, as well as doubled cleaves every time you kill something.
>>3778717 (OP)I didn't finish Storm of Zehir on my last playthrough a few years ago, so I'm gonna do it. Planned to make a CHA tank bard with a level of cleric, who spams Feint and Taunt for the rest of the party.
>>3778741Feint is incredible once you work out how it actually works, as opposed to how the feat description says it works. I always meant to play a build centred around it, maybe I finally will.
Wizard 20/Arcane Scholar 10
All of the metamagic feats. ALL of them. Yes even the totally fucking useless ones, I doubt they'll make the enemies use disables smartly to justify Still/Silent.
What can I say, I like spells
>>3778717 (OP)2 Pal/ 1 Rog/ 1 Clr/ 26 Favored Soul with Epic Divine Might.
Longsword for having the flexibility of using one or two hands.
Or I'll replicate the build I'm using in the tabletop game once I mod the classes and feats in..
I'm a big fan of 3/3.5e, but have never played a Neverwinter game, what am I in for? What do I need to know to succeed?
>>3778796This is a bard/blackguard multiclass.
wonder if they fixed MoW, like the messed up domains of the cleric bitch and the bugfest that was the vampire route
>>3778717 (OP)>So in a month we will receive another top tier CRPG like bg3.Damn, what a scathing condemnation of BG3. Unwarranted, man, unwarranted.
>>3778721Aspyr did a nice job with a Kotor 2 update patch like 10 years ago
>>3778795Donโt trust the skull.
Watch out for falling rocks.
>>3778821I never played MoW because it was wholly incompatible with a number of mods for whatever reason.
It was by Ossian studios right?
>white human male
>20 wizard + 10red wizard (evil playthrough) or 10 candlekeep schoolar (good boy playthrough)
>>3778854Nice.
I have a disease where I can only ever play Gish characters, but full caster is dope as hell.
>>3778717 (OP)When Beamdog announced the NWN remaster they reached out to the community and started work on fixes and additions that people wanted. They only made good on maybe 20% before patch development grinded to a halt. The problem is that Aspyr hasn't reached out to anyone, and hasn't promised anything. All we know is that it's the weakest and laziest modern port they could churn out. No mention on even if they will restore the NWN2 master list, but we can assume they'll do that much since Beamdog is owned by them, and Beamdog stole theirs from the community. Will it even expand module-bound asset memory limits for larger mods/pws or will it even implement the fixes from Skywing Client Extender that fixes the stuttering movement? Nobody knows.
>>3778859>will it even implement the fixes from Skywing Client Extender that fixes the stuttering movement? Nobody knows. They ought to. The game is nearly unplayable without that. Ruberbanding on a single player offline game is fucking surreal.
>>3778855isn't 10wiz 10lich one of the best gish?
>>3778864There isn't a Lich class in this game, so no.
Unless you mean Palemaster.
The answer would be no in that case I'm pretty sure.
They get a couple of immunities, some AC, and a paralyzing touch they can use at most 3/day.
Then they have low BAB and a d6 hit dice.
There might be a meme build out there that makes use of the class, I suppose, but at face value, doesn't seem very good for a character that wants to hit enemies with weapons.
>>3778839Yup. Love that dev, but you could tell from design alone how unfinished it was.
>>3778863They ought to do a lot of things, that's my point. There is a severe lack of information, and it seems like this could just be an AI upscaling mod and console port. See, the stuttering issue in NWN2 isn't something generic, but it's a specific problem to do with CPU timings, and the workaround basically works around it and resets it, so a proper fix needs them to address it specifically.
Ok but the important question is,
will you be able to kill Neeshka?
>>3778737Sadly this. I would be interested if they restored cut content, maybe added tasteful class and race reactivity like NPCs reacted to your background in the prologue and gave us more prestige classes but there will be none of that. The silver lining is that there won't be cringeworthy beamdog companions.
Wizard 7/Rogue 3/Arcane Scholar of Candlekeep 10/Arcane Trickster 10.
Because when you want to do literally everything, it's hard to find a substitute except Cleric lmao
>>3778854I wish I enjoyed Red Wizard, but specialist always has me wishing I had access to whatever school I have prohibited and besides my favorite school is Conjuration (though it's never as good in videogames as in tabletop) and losing Transmutation AND Illusion hurts too much when it doesn't have all the tricks you'd normally use to work around those restrictions
>>3778949That would be awesome.
And an increase in the number of classes you can take would be welcomed too.
My tabletop character has 5 classes I think?
4 Cleric/ 6 Knight of the Raven/ 3 Ordained Champion/ 1 Crusader (cheeky dip)/ 1 The Righteous Cohort of Kiri-Jolith.
That's 5 classes. I might get a sixth one depending on what happens in the campaign, but probably not. Might go with Righteous Cohort all the way to 20, in 5 years when we get there lol.
>>3778953Arcane Trickster is dope as hell. Makes even your cantrips worth casting.
Bard. Just Bard.
Because in videogames, it's actually possible to play one without constantly asking yourself what the fuck you're doing not playing a proper class, since most take steps to make them more useful compared to tabletop. In NWN2 that's part special songs, part how inspirations work, and part itemization being very generous.
>>3778949NWNEE didn't have any Beamdog writer content. |People criticized it for that, but NWNEE was a true enhancement because it improved all of the limits and let modders do what they want. NWN2EE hasn't said the will do anything to support the modding community. So basically it's just valued on the single player, and my copy runs fine. Can't really see much difference in graphics, but not $30 worth. If they had done a Beamdog they might actually make it interesting and fixed the janky as shit toolset that was such a chore to work with almost nobody modded NWN2.
>>3778988Even in the tabletop Bards are pretty cool.
Sure, they aren't full caster strong or versatile, but they can still do a lot, and all those skills see a lot of use.
Also, there's a lot of support, prestige classes, ACFs, feats to multiply the Inspire Courage bonus etc.
Our Bard gives us up to +12 AB and Damage with his inspire courage. It's pretty nuts.
Of course, Bard Sublime Chord is the real bard, but I digress.
In Neverwinter Nights 2, with Kaedrin's pack, there's a number of really god damn cool hybrid bard + something else (Cleric!) builds you can make that are the shit.
>>3778988>>3779023You also can't forget that the NWN2 devs had a major hard-on for bards and added a lot of additional features to super-charge bards.
>>3779016>NWNEE didn't have any Beamdog writer contentThey learned their lesson after the Siege of Dragonspear, kek. I'm sure they would have wanted to add their troon slop and claim that adding content is not changing content.
>>3779027True. Inspire courage, competence, etc, didn't use any of your daily bardic uses and worked like a persistent aura basically, which is pretty dope.
>>3779029Competence also scales, where in pnp it's just a flat +2, and several inspirations or songs either didn't exist, or were feats you had to take normally in pnp. So, in comparison to normal bard, you effectively get a free feat every few levels.
>>3779028No, that has nothing to do with it. The goals were different, and no matter how much slavs demanded continuation to the story, the producer just wanted to promote NWNEE as a modding platform. Even claiming that you think they wanted to add content means you misunderstood what the game was about, and why they would never have done the same for NWN, and why nobody would have given a shit if they did except grumble about wasted dev effort.
>>3779023Oh you don't need to sell me on them, I'm a diehard Bard enjoyer. I'm exaggerating how bad they are, in part because of the sort of people I used to play with - it's hard to have a spot as a bard in certain party compositions. And without support from a few different splats it's difficult to really get them to shine (but that goes for a lot of 3.5 classes).
Vidya meanwhile often go out of their way to make them more useful. You can look at all the higher-tier songs and unique items in Icewind Dale for example, how good UMD is in NWN1 (+Curse Song being pretty good), a bunch of features they added to them in NWN2 and how many items you get just for them...
Despite some... detraction toward the Bard it's a staple of D&D parties by now, and it's obvious many devs at different points felt the need to make them better, and that's for a reason.
On a very tangentially related note have mixed opinions about 5e but the fact the Bard in that edition is actually good is like a merciful ray of sunshine.
>>3779038>No, that has nothing to do with it.Nigger, they wrote Siege of Dragonspear because they believed Hasbro would allow them to make BG3. SoD was supposed to prove they can do it but the shitstorm that occured afterwards prevented that. There is no reason to ever believe they do not want to add their shit into other games as well and they didn't in NWNEE because they were on a short leash. Also EE of NWN was unnecessary; the base game ran well enough. It's sales are inflated by private server players who migrated and people who wanted to buy the original but the stores took it down.
I'll be real with you I didn't find the Beamdog additions nearly as offensive as most people
>>3779049You're just making that up though. You never talked to the guy or read or watched any interviews, or watched any of the streams. You looked at what they did to BG and then pulled shit out of your ass to invent some story in your head. If you actually bothered to look into it even for a moment you would have realized changing the story content was NEVER on the table. Not in response to anything, but because it wasn't ever considered important. If you understood that you would understand how stupid your theory is.

Here, shill. The fact that reddit fellates these parasites, I begrudgingly accept but I can't stomach the fact you cocksuckers come here and spew your lies. I miss the Beamdog is guilty copypasta poster. When he was around you scattered like roaches every time he ripped into you.
>>3778717 (OP)It's not a very good game, who cares if it has prettier graphics?
>>3779061>Dnd is BACK20 gorillion years and only bg3 was shat out decently. Could have had a nice D&D rpg every 5 years but instead we have to settle down for 20 years old rehashed slop
>>3779073You're only focusing on BG series, proving the point that you're just obsessed about that and know jack about NWN.
The point is that it has nothing to do with your grudge. Trent Oster the boss at Beamdog was the original producer for NWN, and his vision was always that it was a constructor set "D&D in a box" for which the OC was only a necessary evil. He explicitly said he didn't care about the OC multiple times. Before even announcing NWNEE they brought on modders and pw scripters on their team. Now you have to explain how your theory that they were just waiting to turn Aribeth into a transgender was supposed to help Arelith, PotM, or the myriad other modules and pws.
BG series was their story game, NWN was their constructor set. Apples and oranges. Your theory that they were waiting for the chance to make an apple pie with oranges is as stupid as it sounds.
Everybody understands how you came to that conclusion based on your love and understanding for BGEE, but you could also only come to that theory by a complete lack of understanding NWN. Had they spent any time on the story and not mainly focused on the modding community then most would not have moved. It took some big groups a year to migrate, but without that community there would not have been an NWNEE.
It's not up for debate because it's a fact of how it went down. Just like it's a fact that they hired a paizo writer to write comically bad minority representation in SoD.
>>3779078Impressive mental gymnastics. How about we do something more simple?
>there is a faggot company that makes unnecessary EE of BG1 adds their own faggot content, not only new characters but also new dialogues for old characters>some gamers grumble, not loud enough to accomplish anything>emboldened, said group of faggots do the same with BG2>again, no reckoning from the gamer community>faggots take the plunge and make SoD>hell breaks loose, Hasbro yanks their leash and hires fucking Larian to sweep in and make BG3>Beamdog always cemented as only the EE studio>they get hired to make EE for NWN, they would love to add their shit content but are aware that Hasbro will put a bullet through their gay skulls if they triedYou are defending a company with a shit record that proved multiple times they have an agenda. They do not love old games, they want to remodel them for modern audiences and parasitize on their success. I would rather bite my own arm off than believe they turned professional now. Also kys.
>>3779083It's not mental gymnastics. The case is very clear cut, since the community and the game is completely distinct from the one you're actually complaining about.
>You are defending a company with a shit record that proved multiple times they have an agenda. They do not love old games, they want to remodel them for modern audiences and parasitize on their success. I would rather bite my own arm off than believe they turned professional now. Also kys. What the fuck are you even on about dude? You're making all of this up in your head, and your sole reason to hate me is that I'm explaining to you why the one thing has nothing to do with the other. Which you would understand if you actually watched or read anything where Trent Oster talks about it.
If you can't accept the factual differences between the two series, then you were probably also one of those that didn't understand why NWN2 flopped so hard with the community. The story was better, but everybody came for the modding, which was garbage tier. The thing is that that they'll repeat the same outcome if they repeat the same mistake.
If they don't address it then nobody will be surprised if everyone forgets NWN2EE by September while NWNEE continues to get new modules. Not that you care or understand, since you're still rambling on about some off-topic shit with BG.
Get a grip, there is more to this world than Baldur's fucking Gate.
Yeah NWN didn't get the same treatment as BG because it just wasn't the same kind of thing. Anyone that doesn't get that is a retard.
>>3779086To be fair Chris Avellone made that and he worked with Beamdog to release the EE.
>>3778959>Conjuration (though it's never as good in videogames as in tabletop)To be fair it's hard to be as good when Conjuration is downright the best school, purely by the virtue of how flexible summoning is in 3.5 taking care of every single thing you need past a certain level.
That said, I still think it's really potent in NWN2. Summon Creature spells are always good if it's on the appropriate level and you got Augment Summoning, Planar Binding is excellent if you're neutral lmao and doubles as a disable, Gate is still solid... and of course beyond that you have all the classic staples in Grease, Web, Stinking Cloud, and Black Tentacles.
Losing Transmutation is unfortunate but both in the OC and MotB you get a specialist Transmuter (in the latter case, it's the first companion you get) so it's not a big deal if you even expect to be hit. And in practice you can simply not lose Illusion when going Red Wizard, as it doesn't make you forget old spells, so just snag that Greater Invisibility and whatever else before taking it.
This is absolutely an attempt to get the thread back on track
>>3779089>being this disingenuous
>>3779092You can't be serious that you actually think company brand name makes games and not employees.
>>3779094>being even more disingenuousThen why didn't they leave the developer as Black Isle? More employees from BI worked on it.
You need to go back, you shill scum.
>>3779092I mean if it's such an issue for you, then you're boycotting this enhanced edition, right? Since actually nobody involved with any of the NWN series is involved.
>>3779096>shill scumI'm a shill just for stating that Chris Avellone clearly lead most of the production on PST? If your whole point is some pedantic hyper fixation on listed developer, why not say that in the first place? And since you're autistic about accuracy don't you mean you wanted it to list both Black Isle and Beamdog?
You call other people disingenuous but you sure do act like a shitter arguing for the say of arguing.
>I don't know anything
>but I hate beamdog
>and I must argue
/thread
>>3779099>I'm a shill just for stating that Chris Avellone clearly lead most of the production on PST?You activated like a sleeper agent the moment I made fun of Beamdog here
>>3778949 and since then you wrote several absolutely autistic plebbitor takes. Don't pretend it's about Avellone being a part of Beamdog or not and explain to me why they changed the developer name on the Steam page if more employees of BI worked on the game.
>>3779104Dude you were just wrong about everything you posted. Accept it, plug your anus, and move on.
>>3779104You tried to make it sound like there was ever a chance that they add extra story content like they did in Baldur's Gate, but there was obviously no reality where that was ever contemplated. It's your own fault for not conceding that simple fact.
>>3779090I appreciate the attempt but it's over, yet another thread lost to mindless bullshit because people on this board literally can't stop shitting themselves.
But you're right, it's not like it sucks, but considering all the funny shit Conjuration gets up to in tabletop and, on later levels, the extra fun and flavor of negotiating with outsiders for service and of course teleporting around, it always feels lackluster in games.
To mind, the only D&D adaptation that felt GOOD as a Conjurer was fucking ToEE, because it actually had choices for summons and (some) teleport spells that worked. The Pathfinder games later tried, but, well...

>>3778717 (OP)It's crazy how hard NWN got sidelined when a ton of money is built on player made content today. Gmod came out 5 years later and was one of the most played games on Steam. Minecraft came out 8 years later and is one of the biggest games of all time. Tabletop simulator is huge. Epic is trying to morph Fortnite into Roblox to stay relevant. Skyrim is synonymous with mods.
How has no one stepped up and copied this formula yet?
>>3778717 (OP)wizard/favoredsoul/shaman mystic theurge
>>3779122Some people tried, actually. Problem is, actually making a solid and enjoyable baseline is harder than it seems, as is comprehensive modding support implementation.
>>3779124It's a trifecta problem. A giga autist coder could recreate the engine, but it still wouldn't have Jeremy Soule's music and the art direction.
>>3779127Yeah. Could probably add game design to it as separate from just the engine, as there's a lot that goes into even implementing an existing system - there's a huge difference in how say, NWN2 and ToEE do it after all.
But even with those three... I feel like just having one of the other two in addition to the autist coding would put it above the competition, but even that's beyond reach for most. Usually there's just... nothing - jank design, shoddy gameplay, mediocre music, boring aesthetics.
Take Solasta - it's blatantly meant to be the 5e version of NWN, being little more than a sample campaign bundled with an editor, but... it's not the enjoyable kind of jank, it looks passable at best and like absolute ass at worst (especially the character models), and it seems they did their very best to have the most uninspired music possible. I don't remember a SINGLE track from it, not even the fucking main menu theme.
It's not helped by the fact that rather than make an ordinary campaign they pulled a Storm of Zehir right off the bat with making four custom characters and having all of them participate in dialogue (complete with abysmal voice acting that, most generously, one might argue is meant to resemble the kind of amateur performances randos at a table might give... but honestly I've heard way better actually playing tabletop with random people back in the day, of which the majority weren't theatre kids or anything), and the whole game is in fact designed around that, so most people see no need to create custom campaigns.
>>3779136>Usually there's just... nothing - jank design, shoddy gameplay, mediocre music, boring aesthetics.Unironically, just described most games made by a lone autist coder.
>SolastaWe're so deep in slopenomics with the game industry. When NWN came out it there was a lot of room for artist freedom and the bar was way lower, but now everything is heavily standardized. The artists and musicians trying to get jobs in the industry effectively min/max towards being world class at being generic because that is the most likely way to get a job. Voice actors are in unions that made it so even fucking Ubisoft can't get decent voice actors reliably.
>the whole game is in fact designed around that, so most people see no need to create custom campaigns. This is kind of interesting. I did see a lot of games with mod support that goes completely ignored, because the game is basically viewed as disposable slop. It seems today its either megahits like BG3 that get mods or its sandbox indie games that also ended up being a hit.
All I want is some more cozy adventuran without all the gay extra shit I don't want to do like in kingmaker and wotr. So even if this is just NWN2 back on steam, I'll buy it.
how strong is the shadow guardian? in term of CR of course. Is it just 20CR or something bigger considering all preps we made to kill him
>>3778717 (OP)I'll probably do a half orc Barbarian dual wielding bastard swords with monkey grip and all points go in STR. Put enough levels in weapon master to offset the penalties and then use the unique silver sword from the shards (which is a bastard sword) as my offhand weapon.
>>3779282CR was always a bit of a meme, but that aside, definitely higher. According to the wiki, assuming it can be trusted with data ripped from the game, the King of Shadows is listed as CR40. Considering it has 20 class levels (10 Warlock, 10 Frenzied Berseker) on top of 20HD of Outsider, massively bloated HP (1200 lmao), very high saves and AC, massive amounts of attacks, many immunities and resistances, SR 30, several at-wills and many spell-likes...
That's just the final form of course, the first form being CR 25 and the little splits being CR 12 each. All in one marathon encounter.
Which all probably adds to encounter CR of 'fuck it I made it for my game specifically who gives a shit', which would indeed be very on brand for a long D&D campaign
>>3779049NWN EE was not unnecessary. NWNX was jank horseshit.
>>3779288so he is demigod
>>3779289>NWNX was jank horseshitso was NWN, so is NWNEE
>>3778717 (OP)>Human/Dwarf, depends how Iโm feeling>Male>Lawful Evil>Fighter/Rogue that prestigeโs into Blackguard because their armor looks extremely badass
>>3779290Well, not demigod, exactly. Depending on the definition used (as they were actually many in D&D, depending on the book you look into, anything from actual half-gods, to exarchs (chosen emissaries as it were), to the lowest tier of quasi-deities, to their own separate thing... but in MOST of those cases they'd be even more powerful, due to divine powers being intentionally busted.
I'd say at his best as we see it, that being the final form, he's below an Avatar of a deity - those also usually had 40 levels' worth of stuff in 3.5, but actual class levels, rather than the comparatively useless Outsider racial HD - but with some extra bloat in certain areas to, well... to make sure that a top level party doesn't just wipe their asses with him.
Which in no way reduces the sheer impossibility of handling him as far as most people are concerned, since 'most people' couldn't handle a CR 5 troll. A CR 40 creature might as well be a demigod, for all the difference the relative weakness makes to even most adventurers' ability to survive.
is polymorph spell useful? i always wanted to be wizard who is transforming into creatures for ordinary fights. with nwn2 generous resting system i would like to mix spellcasting with turning into mindflayer
is it true that the balance of game is made for 2 player party just like in NWN1? 4 players kills everyone without any hardship. should i play with 1 companion or basically alone to feel combat?
did they fixed reputation system? I couldn't make kelgar drop his dream of becoming monk
>>3778717 (OP)A Fighter/Cleric dwarf. Thatโs what I played recently. Gotta say the game gets quite boring in the city of Neverwinter.
The multiclassing into Cleric was a hunch, but, boy, was I right. So many undead.
>>3779347If there's one safe bet in ANY D&D campaign is that they're gonna have as many undead as they can excuse. And a little more for good measure. Take any given adaptation game and it'll be the same.
And yeah, the actual city is the worst part of the game, easily. Takes a while for it to pick back up afterward too.
>>3778717 (OP)>So many years ago, today, we will receive another top tier CRPG
>>3779347In D&D 3.5e, Cleric is always the right choice, undead or not.
What was the Fighter Multiclass for? Tower shield? Martial weapons?
The extra feat?
>>3779319>is polymorph spell useful? It's broken as hell in the actual TRPG, but I remember it sucking in the game because while, yes, it replaces your physical stats, it also replaces your equipment.
If you have a lot of long lasting buffs that increase your AB and AC, it could be okay.
>>3779289You're literally arguing with a retard that doesn't even play either game.
>>3779533nta but from when I played 3.5 tabletop with my skilled friends, 4 level dip in fighter is nice for weapon specialization. Works well with any martial build. That said I've never played NWN but if the game goes up to epic level scaling, that makes the option even more appealing.
>>3779549Going into the epic levels makes the option less appealing as far as I'm concerned, since it doesn't scale. It's a flat +2 damage that becomes irrelevant as your level increases, even accounting for the iterative attacks.
Also, 4 levels of Fighter into a Cleric is gimping the Cleric. One level for the feat and maybe the proficiencies can be okay depending on what you are doing.
For pure martials that don't have to worry about caster levels and spell access and such, it's can be a lot better since the proficiencies and extra feats are pretty good, but you could also be delaying other things from your other classes, etc.
Don't get me wrong, in the case of the Cleric anon was talking about, it works. A couple of levels of fighter aren't going to make the character unplayable, so feel free to do whatever you think is cool, but it's good to know the tradeoffs, opportunity costs, etc.
>>3779319Nope, the only reason it works in pnp is because idiots let their players flip through 10 books then pick something they like and bend the rules or argue until they wear them down. You can't do that in NWN/NWN2, you get a fixed selection and you better like it or shut up.
As far as how well a polymorph does on a technical level, it's really a lesser version of the thing you're picking, and most of your equipment is useless. So if you can beat the thing and you have better equipment it's probably a downgrade. Next thing you have to realize is that NWN2 has busted rules, especially with melee weapons. It inherits the same weapon damage bonus multiplication as NWN, which should be more limited and cost extra to crit, but you get that free. Then you realize that they fucked the implementation of dual-wielding rules too. So, now your guy can walk up to an enemy, stand still, animation swings once, and BAM 18 hits, half of which are crits multiplying all the extra damage dice. Is polymorph better than that? Fuck no.
>>3778721Yeah but on the flipside, a remaster that is little more than "supporting new aspect ratios, properly scaling UI, and fixing bugs" is another way of saying "they're not fucking with the mechanics or story
>>3779561Oh yeah when you put it that way, it makes sense. I figured with having more than 20 levels of progression, you can get 9th level spells and hit harder, but a +2 matters less when you cap at a higher level.
>>3779016>and my copy runs fineIf you play it on Win 10/11 then eventually the gog version of NWN2 will corrupt your save files.
>>3779568Yeah. It also doesn't help that in the actual TTRPG, your BAB doesn't grow past 20 when you get into epic levels, so you cap at 4 normal attacks (bar things like hastes, battletide, etc).
At least in NwN2 you can get up to 6 attacks, and it works even better if you are dual wielding to double your number of attacks.
You can make it work, is my point, but there are often other options that could work just as well depending on your other Lego blocks.
>>3779569NTA but I never had that issue, and caring about SP so much is lame. The story is okay, but do you need to replay it every decade? Probably not, but I know some autists replay NWN1 OC every year, so there is always one that cares.
>>3779533I started as a fighter and my main reason for multiclassing into Cleric was receiving another fighter Dwarf in the party. I probably shouldโve started the game as Cleric but that option was unappealing at the time. I wanted to be a cool dwarf with an axe.
>>3779572>and caring about SP so much is lame.NWN2 doesn't have much else going for it because its engine really is unintuitive for modding, which is why barely anyone made modules for it compared to 1.
>>3779574> I wanted to be a cool dwarf with an axe.Perfectly acceptable reason, and that one fighter level does make the early game smoother too.
Khelgar is such a god damn bro. I love that midget.
>>3779567But I wish they would fuck with the mechanics, because NWN2 has the worst case of sloppy seconds STD implementation of mechanics.
>>3779576I guess you're not wrong. If they don't revamp the tools to be usable then what else is there? Maybe play BG Tales server, Trinity, or Sigil if they still exist. Not that you're making a good sales pitch either mind you...
>>3779549>>3779561>Grug only take two levels of Fighter for bonus feats>Fighter level three is dumb level, Grug not takeYou're right, though. It was better in the first game, there weren't as many ways to effectively scale damage so going Fighter 4 for WS+EWS was worth it more often.
>>3778949>they/them really thinks any game can be created or remastered without the addition of gay brown characters with aidskek
>>3778988bards are a filter
they started as a joke amongst players in 1e/2e who would make fun of their little brothers or AV geek buddies who wanted to play as a bard
and now it's a way to identify impostors, anyone who really grew up playing DnD knows you just don't play faggy classes like that, so you know not to take people who play bard seriously

Those are fun too from time to time.Oh, for sure. I just wanted to say why someone might have really wanted to take Weapon Spec, especially having come from the first game. As far as I remember the other main reasons to take Fighter were proficiencies (which you mentioned) and for extra BAB which isn't as important in 2 because you still get extra attacks after level 20.

How viable was pure mage (pure as in no skipped casting levels, some prestige thing is fine) back in this
I vaguely remember that it wasn't really that much of a multiclass autism game and pure builds were mostly the best
>>3779685Very.
Pick some good spells, a couple of metamagic, a PRC, and go wild.
It helps a lot that you can just rest and get all your spells back between fights.
It's a little trickier in Mask of the Betrayer, but not much.
>>3779658I mean they were married with kids and said a lot weird socially inept shit.
>>3779685Tops out at DC 40-50, nothing can resist, it's okay.
>>3779667Politics has melted your brain so much that you forget NWN2 was a lukewarm flop, and besides the first expansion, they pulled the marketing and outreach plug the day after SoZ was out. Patches stopped a few months after SoZ, then went the server list. I'd temper those expectations.
>>3779696It was also made by Obsidian, in California, and they made a point to make the armor more functional and less sexy, and less attractive faces. Some people were complaining about this stuff even back then. NWN2 really isn't the culture war banner they want to rally around.
>>3779685>How viable was pure mage (pure as in no skipped casting levels, some prestige thing is fine) Went through both OG and MOTB twice with pure casters (Wizard/Red Wizard of Thay and pure Sorcerer), mostly no problems but these campaigns like to throw control immune/resistant health sponges at you out of your ass so forget about blasting through enemies and winning hard encounters with a single controll spell - focus on buffs, breach-like (you can choose not pick dispells, they're kinda not that useful) spells, summons to reaggro bad spawns (sorcs can unlearn spells in this game on levelup so they should grab some too) and a few "save or suck"s like Bigbis to nail down annoying stuff. Wizards can easily adapt to this but spontanious casters should be warned what to expect in advance.
>>3779701You can blame that on Josh Sawyer, a known autistic man, rather than Obsidian being Californian. They did have prime waifus in their Dungeon Siege game.

The original online community back in the 2000s seemed big, because the game had 2 million sales.
I still remember my grave disappointment when I first played it. Having no experience with D&D 3.5 at the time, I looked upon the classes free of judgment, save for what I recalled from NWN, and I thought "Wow, the Warlock sounds really cool!"
How little did I know.
>>3780505Warlock is really cool though, especially when you get to MotB.

>>3780653>They won't work on nwn2 remaster, will they?I don't see why they wouldn't. It's not a wholly different game remade from the ground up or anything, just a couple of tweaks here and there, and since even the main campaign uses the same module system these community modules do, I really don't see a reason for anything like that to break.
Something like NWLauncher that deals with memory and binaries? Sure, but not a "simple" module.

They're implementing controller support, so we might get something DAO-like.
>>3781316Nope. They already said that whatever the fuck they did with that engine, the last person who knew how the fuck to handle it enough to work on a remaster has left the company long ago.
And I don't think they can be bothered to reverse-engineer it from nothing, let alone do a straight-up remake after Veilguard basically killing that franchise.
Not that it'd end up well, since they'd have to rip out literally everything to make it conform with what they want Dragon Age to be nowadays. (Read: not even the slightest bit of edge allowed)
>>37814981. At the very end.
2. No. You can only meaningfully romance Elanie in the OC (and if you do she dies for good). There are 2 more romance candidates in the sequel campaign.

>>3782112>It's on Playstation, you can see a few seconds of controller gameplay at 0:40Neat.
Maybe they'll dig deeper into the UI/UX aspect than I imagined then.
>>3778725Why 3 levels of hellfire? I always went pure 30.
Off-topic, I'll eternally hate 5e for the warlock changes.
>>3783085Not that anon, but Hellfire Blast is pretty dope.
>>37830856d6 damage bonus to eldritch blast at the cost of a spell progression lag (which is fine considering how unimpressive the spell list is). The description states that it doesn't work if you are immune to CON damage but this isn't true. I was able to chain blast/doom blast with little resistance the entirety of MOTB thanks to that mode, consistently sniping the final boss with spear blast for ~300 damage per cast. May seem not impressive considering how Arcane Archers can go for ~600 per round, but you also get utility spells (invisibility, skill buffs, save throws buffs et. c.), a wider selection of skills to pass checks for lore bits and good quest resolutions as well as reputation bonuses for companions.
>>3782112That's probably where 99% of the development effort went then
>>3778717 (OP)I always thought NWN2's main campaign was way too hated. I thought it was pretty FUN and NEAT when I did it.
>>3783166That's because you're DUMB and GAY.
>>3783166I thought it was okay with some memorable moments, way better than the first game's main campaign, not that that one doesn't have memorable moments of its own.
A shame about the stuff they had to cut.
>>3783107>I was able to chain blast/doom blast with little resistance the entirety of MOTB thanks to that modeActually, it was thanks to warlocks being pretty busted in MotB. Hellfire a nice damage boost regardless of being bugged, but it's a boost to a blast that easily hits enemies with bullshit AC and starts dealing very decent damage by itself.
>>3783166>NWN2's main campaignBecause it's a fake argument that instantly falls apart whenever you ask people to elaborate.
>>3783305Indeed. But what do you expect? Everything operates on "vibes" in our retarded times.
How are you supposed to know how to multiclass effectively? I always played one class, maybe two because I feared messing up the effectiveness of the character. Looking forward to the remaster.
>>37833331. Aim for prestiege classes.
2. Look for classes that can be "dipped" into for a few levels - Rogues for sneak attack, Bard for a free +1ATK and DAM, Fighter to save a few combat feats and bet all armor and martial proficiencies, or Cleric for a specific domain bonus for example.
3. Seek synergies. That's better done by looking for power builds, but a few can be deduced with enough patience. For example, Start as a dual-wileding fighter -> get Rogue and level till you qualify for "feignt" -> level fighter will you get specialisations, improved two-weapon fighting and all necessary crit feats. You''l get a fighter that shreds regular mooks with feint+sneak but can stand ground when facing sneak-immune enemies.
Ranger with undead as chosen enemy.
Bishop, Neera and Qara have to be some of the lest likeable companions I've ever seen in an rpg.
>>3778796his specialty is to kill 40 mil white people, commit suicide and allow goblins to establish their ethno-state and genocide the gentiles
I SAY BAAAYSET!!!!
I'm thinking of giving swordflight a shot.
Would a barbarian/blackguard be good for it? I know barbarian is kinda shit but I just feel like playing one.
Probably some levels in rogue as well for the skills.
>>3784068Doubt it. I wouldn't play Swordflight without a broken AC heavy build.
>>3784068You can make it work (I've beaten it with a straightforward Barbarian/Rogue) but it wouldn't be 'good', necessarily. For Swordflight you want to be as difficult to hit as possible, which generally means either going all-in on AC (and eventually Improved Invisibility) or you're a wizard with Greater Sanctuary who doesn't ever need to attack because you have summons who can play the game for you.
Barbarian is a bit better than it looks because in the EE Uncanny Dodge gives conditional immunity to sneak attacks from flanking, but that would require you to keep up your Barbarian levels. You could probably still make it work well enough as long as you had the INT for Expertise/Improved Expertise and STRmaxed to get access to Dev Crit as soon as possible. Evil characters get some fun quests and some cool unique gear.
>>3784068>barbarianYou can try something like this:
>DEX, crit immune, damage resistancehttps://www.tapatalk.com/groups/nwnecbguild/lord-of-terror-barbarian-20-druid-8-shifter-12-t2354506.html
Should be viable in chapter 1 if you start as a druid with a bear/boar as a pet. and add barb levels a bit later.
or
>STR, Dev Crit, HiPShttps://www.tapatalk.com/groups/nwnecbguild/glushshakh-shaman-of-gruumsh-and-kurtulmak-kobold--t2356042.html
Should be viable right from the start.
>>3784097I've never tried it but it seems like a Dex build for Swordflight would be pure suffering in the later chapters unless you're one of those meme monk builds with a million attacks. Even on a Dev Crit build the mobs get pretty tiresome.
>>3780128That's just steam numbers. The pre-release was only available on their Beamdog client, which they now shut down. It's also available on GoG and you get a discount if you own the Diamond edition.
You're also making the mistake that peak players is with the total number of players all playing at once. This is simply not true, NWN:EE got about 20k sales because they released it too early, most of the sales were people heavily into modding content.
The 200k number you're looking at is only after years of many sales with 90-95% off, the 2.5k peak players was during Covid and also only includes those that were online on Steam. The peak was closer to 3-4k concurrent users signed into multiplayer.
You can make all kinds of claims forcefully when you either don't know or don't disclose that you have very incomplete information.
>>3784085I've been trying to make it work just to see how it goes. I went with 16/14/14/14/8/10.
I fucked up only giving myself 16 strength, I didn't realize dev crit required so much. I guess I should have dumped dex but I wanted the AC.
I made it through the bandit camp at least and I can't be fucked resetting to minmax more, I'll just see how far I can get before giving up and playing a better class.
>>3784599That's a pretty good attribute spread, I would've started 17/13/12/14/8/10 (making up the difference in Dex and Con with potions once you get regular access to them). Starting with 17 Str for 3 points in CC is already a pretty steep cost and I definitely wouldn't recommend starting with 18 Str (6 points); you have the requisite 14 Int (Expertise + skillpoints) and non-negative Cha which is good.
Ultimately, starting with a couple less points in Strength isn't a huge deal, it just means you're going to have to take Great Strength a couple times if you want to get Dev Crit as soon as possible, same as any character that isn't going RDD. My last playthrough was with a cheese Paladin/Bard/RDD build that tried for as much XP as possible without grinding and I ended up level 26 at the end of Chapter 3, so you'll get Dev Crit in Chapter 4 instead of 3. Once you get to the later chapters they offer chances to grind for XP anyway with repeatable encounters, but I wouldn't bother with that beyond making sure you see all of the unique content.
>I made it through the bandit camp at least and I can't be fucked resetting to minmax more, I'll just see how far I can get before giving up and playing a better class. That's the best way to go about it. People usually find the first chapter the hardest and the second the easiest with difficulty ramping up again from there, just because of the different structures of each chapter, so if you can make it through chapter one you should be fine. They are challenging modules but not to the hyperbolic levels some people seem to think where they act as if you have to be completely minmaxed and being even a couple +1 bonuses behind will make your character worthless. At the end of the day you're still playing a martial+rogue which is more than good enough, UMD alone is incredibly strong once you start being able to afford enough consumables.
Made it through chapter 1 of swordflight, the ruins were pretty tough (especially the annoying fucking ghosts) but I got through it.
Really enjoying it so far.
One question with my build, my plan is to save up a ton of skill points so I can dump them into tumble/UMD later on, how long should I wait to do that? How many points do I need in UMD to reliably use some of the good utility scrolls?
>>3785102>how long should I wait to do that?Tumble gives you extra AC, UMD allows you to use better items. You want them both maxed, which means rogue dips from time to time.
Ideally either after level 20 to maximize your BAB, or barb 16/rogue 4 before epic levels.
The second option will allow you to access the thieves guild and a store with special thief gear in chapter 2 - but be careful to trigger that dialogue before getting rogue levels, otherwise you might get completely locked out of the content. Usually you only get a single chance to trigger a class/alignment-specific quest.
>How many points do I need in UMD to reliably use some of the good utility scrolls?10 points on a bard, and I think 25+ points on a rogue. And keep in mind that somehow the stores in chapter 1 (Bless weapon) and 2 (everything else) offer you the best choice of divine scrolls, while the choice in chapters 3, 4 and 5 sucks ass - so it's a good idea to hoard something useful before moving on. On the other hand, most of the arcane scrolls can eventually be bough in the unlimited quantity - and the acrane spellbook has a number of great spells that don't care about DC.
And by the way, you can still fall for the Barb/bard 1/RDD meme. Might also allow you to get Dev Crit faster.
>>3785120>but be careful NOT to trigger that dialogue before getting rogue levelsFixed.
>>37851204 levels in rogue feels a lot but if the gear is good I might go for it. Does blackguard or barb get any special items/quests?
>you can still fall for the Barb/bard 1/RDD memeI'll think about it, the extra stats seem really nice. Wait isn't 3 the max amount of classes? I can't fit bard and RDD in can I? Also there'd be an xp penalty right?
>>3785175>Does blackguard or barb get any special items/quests?Barb does, blackguard also kinda does but very late.
>4 levels in rogue feels a lotNot nearly, if you're making a melee multiclass. You could even add a level of shadowdancer, max Hide/Move Silently and abuse Dev Crits from stealth.
>I'll think about it, the extra stats seem really nice. Wait isn't 3 the max amount of classes? I can't fit bard and RDD in can I?You'll have to choose one build - either barb/bard/rdd or barb/rogue/whatever. RDD is even going to fix your 16 STR, since you'll want to get Dev Crit as soon as you can.
>Also there'd be an xp penalty right? You're a human and prestige classes don't count for an XP penalty.
>>3778717 (OP)>nwn2>remaster>top tier>tranny leftist company like Beamdoglol, lmao
NWN was absolutely a singularly worthy engine before oblivion recreated it into garbage with NWN2, letting more modern and worse trannies have the run of it won't do any of us any favors.
The success of NWN won't be repeated until someone on the level of Larian introduces some kind of similar creation tool oriented kind of game.
It's certainly doable but not with this low effort plague of diversity hires in the industry. Not until that edifice of 2005-2016 crumbles all the rest of the way and the people actually passionate about content get back on top.
>>3779122You had to be cable of scripting to get anywhere in NWN which most people are not. Minecraft doesn't cut it if you're comparing relative barriers to entry to the actual fun stuff.
I've seen the super autists that design working VMs with minecraft redstone or whatever and those guys certainly are but they are a super minority. I bet they'd have more fun in a truly modernized NWN for sure.
>>3785217>>3785218can you please start namefagging?
>>3785205Oh right, thought you were saying to take bard on my current build. I'll just stick to barb/rogue for now since I got this far.
What level do you usually end part 2 at? I have to figure out when I'm gonna get my four rogue levels.
>>3785242Level ~17, casters get their level 9 spells just before the final quest.
>Oh right, thought you were saying to take bard on my current buildTo be honest, I didn't even notice that you already have a rogue level. On the other hand, if I remember correctly, the thieves guild sells an armor with free HiPS - if you have enough points to max Hide and Move silently, you could get it as a secondary option and cheese everything that doesn't have True Seeing even without dipping into Shadowdancer. Theoretically, of course.
>>3785242>>3785256Yes, I checked my old saves (with an evil mage merchant from act 3, but the rogue shop is supposed to have similar items), and this armor (and a robe with the same bonuses) exists. It requires a level in Assassin or high enough UMD, so eventually you will be able to use it.
If you can spare enough skill points on stealth, it's going to save you in many gangbang encounters. And you will be able to get your Blackguard levels and swap between a heavy armor and a HiPS armor.
Just make sure to get improved critical for rapiers or scimitars if you want to rely on Dev Crit.
>>3785242Also, it seems I made a mistake with BAB calculation.
NWN1 doesn't have its own calculator, but the one for NWN2 says that unless you have more then 4 rogue levels, your character is going to end up with 19 BAB at level 20 anyway. I was pretty sure it was more punishing, but maybe I just forgot how the classes with a full BAB progression work
So you likely don't need 4 pre-epic rogue levels, unless you're aiming at certain skills and skill points. You'll end up with 4 attacks and 19 BAB anyway
>>3785279Rogue is a bab 3/4 class, so it gets 0 points of BAB at first level, then 1 point of BAB in the next 3 levels (3 out of 4), then 0 at 5, 1 every level until 9, etc.
So it looks like
>lvl 1 : 0>lvl 2 : 1>lvl 3 : 1>lvl 4 : 1>lvl 5 : 0>lvl 6 : 1etc.
A full bab class gets a point of BAB every class level, a half bab class (like a wizard) gets a point of BAB every other level, starting at 0.
Do note that Aspyr is the developer here, who gave us the travesty that is the Battlefront Classic Collection, among other subpar ports of old Star Wars games.

>>3788469That didn't happen though, so everything I said was correct. On account of me actually being there, and the peak happening during Covid, years after release, and a slow climb of players you can see as it took non-affiliated servers time to migrate. You can see it all, and see I'm correct. Datamining websites were even showing it as only selling barely 10-25k at first, before Steam changed it's data and plugged that. This was after them saying they wanted to take their time to add everything on the wanted feature list, and running weekly streams. Then their tune changed and they released it officially all of a sudden before it was ready, and it didn't do well. They cut streams shortly after that too. NWNEE started to go on sale at bargain bin dumping prices upt to 90-95% which is where the additional sales come from, as well as the bulk of the current playerbase. Then it came out that Beamdog were also hoping for BG3 but got passed up for Larian. A few years after they sold off to whatever the current parent company is.
See, it helps to not only have the recesses of your anus as a reference point. That way you actually know what you're talking about.
>>3790963Not much to tell.
People were using his (freely and openly released) content without asking for and receiving express permission. This upset him.
Now the sensible course of action would have been to make it very clear that he is not okay with it, and would at least wish to be asked before his work is used for the benefit of some other modder's campaign or something. Or reaching out to the people responsible directly and talking it over. Or generally containing yourself and acting with some restraint.
That is not what Kaedrin did.
What Kaedrin chose was to have what might be called a "melty", throw some wild accusations and - if I recall correctly - thinly veiled insults, then declare he will be taking his toys and going home, that is to say, NEVER releasing another version of the PRC to the public, instead providing them exclusively to select servers, if even that.

I'm kind of losing interest in swordflight chapter two now that I have companions again.
Fucking around in the city solo was way more fun than trying to manage two janky AI henchman.
I don't mind the henchman in other modules but swordflight is so tough and requires so much from you that the idea of trying to get through it with two dumbass I need to micromanage is just painful.
>>3793836>Just to inject some skillsNWN2 and just for skills? A single level + Able Learner, there's a bug that makes every "unlocked" skill through a secondary class your main skill for every class.
>>3795629>that the idea of trying to get through it with two dumbass I need to micromanage is just painfulIt's going to get worse, chapter 2 is still relatively fair if you're not a caster who has a button to make any target either dead or helpless.
>>3795637It's not a bug, that's the whole point of taking the feat. It's just that the feat description isn't very clear because it doesn't specifically tell you that the game will take all your classes into account when determining what your class and cross-class skills are, not just the one you're currently levelling up. Incredible feat, up there with Spellcasting Prodigy and Practised Spellcaster cheese as the best in the game.
>>3795629On my latest Swordflight playthrough I found managing companions was far worse in Chapter 2 than any of the other parts, I think because of how underpowered they are compared to the encounters you face. Once you get to Chapter 3 you can just make yourself unhittable, then tell Zarala to stand in a corner while you aggro everything. For Chapter 2 I mostly had the caster henchman buff me to the gills and then did everything myself.
>>3795646>because of how underpowered they are compared to the encounters you faceYou have a very good fighter, a multiclassed rogue for tanking throwing rocks, and either a decent cleric or a walking permanent aura of fear. Never had any complaints about those guys. Well, unless you picked the sorcerer instead of the cleric - he does suck balls.
>>3795637>>3795642Huh, neat. Only problem is the actual skillpoints, but I guess Human + some Int will suffice.
>>3778988I basically agree with this but replace all of the mechanical concerns with the fact I get to play a Bard without every jackass projecting his retarded idea of what a Bard 'has to be' onto my character.
At least in a vidya I don't have to suffer through another 'hurhur fug the dragon' joke or worse, deal with the people who have an irrational hatred of Bards based on hell knows what and somehow assume I will play a shitty character by default just because of the class choice.
>>3795656The biggest problem I had was always keeping them alive. The fighter was fine but the rogue and cleric have much lower AC than even a mildly optimised PC can have at the same time, so if they get focused they're dead, and in my experience even if I aggroed the enemies properly and they engaged the backline eventually the AI would force them to switch targets and they'd eat a dozen AoOs doing so. Snajagh in particular had a bad habit of casting one or two buffs then running into melee, trying to cast in melee range and being downed almost instantly if I didn't save him.
I dunno, maybe I wasn't gearing them properly or I just wasn't playing as carefully as I should have been since I'd played through before.
>>3795659Yeah, you'll be fine with the skillpoints from Human and your INT modifier - the great thing about Able Learner is that it both unlocks skills and lets you increase them for 1 point as long as they're a class skill for one of your classes, and as a Human you get a free feat which lets you take Able Learner essentially for free. Most skills don't need to be kept maximised at every level, you usually just want your dialogue skills (whichever one you pick + optionally lore) and anything that has an opposed or scaling check (casters want Concentration until they can guarantee success, for example). UMD of ~15 is sufficient for almost everything useful in the OC from what I remember. Don't bother with crafting because you can make your companions waste their skillpoints on it instead. If you're sure you want to be a Fighter/Rogue, it's probably worth taking Rogue as your first level for the bonus skillpoints.
As far as the class split goes, it depends on whether you want to focus more on being a Fighter, being a Rogue, or a more even split. Rogues get Evasion at level 2, Uncanny Dodge at 4 and Improved Uncanny Dodge at 8; Fighters get two bonus feats in two levels and three bonus feats in four, as well as 1 BAB/level and qualifying for Weapon Specialization at 4. Fighters eventually qualify for Greater Weapon Focus and Specialization but the bonuses aren't enough to justify taking levels specifically for them, it's more of a bonus if you already have that many Fighter levels. If you're mainly going Fighter I would recommend at least going Rogue 2 for Evasion and 4 only if you're a Dex build for Uncanny Dodge, 4 extra levels for UAD isn't really worth it. If you're a Rogue, 4 levels of Fighter are usually worth it. If you want a balance you can basically do whatever you want. This is without considering prestige classes, of course.
>>3795699I see. And what ARE prestige classes worth considering? I haven't really given that much thought yet.
I mean for the most part I want the "big man in armor who kill thing good with big sword", except without the implied stupidity and with actual skills, so I don't constantly feel like an incompetent buffoon who can't talk to people or use a wand/scroll sometime (and use a bunch of magic items normally meant for other classes/alignments, obviously).
>>3795706Not the guy you've been talking to but are you going to use a vanilla set or Kaedrin's class pack?
>>3795719Probably just vanilla, I don't really fuck with mods on first playthroughs, and adding a fresh dose of choice paralysis doesn't seem like a great idea either.
Unless there's a VERY compelling reason to do it, beyond something being busted good.
>>3795724Then there aren't many options for the build that I can see. Blackguard is sort of a mixture between a Fighter, Rogue and evil Cleric. Divine Champion at least increases your saving throws and the requirements are low. Dwarven Defender is good but you have to play as a dwarf and you want a human. Weapon Master is cool but feat-heavy; moreover, tons of enemies are immune to critical. Frenzied Berserker or Shadowdancer, maybe? If you decided to pick Bard rather than Rogue, you could go with Dragon Disciple, I guess.
>>3795726Hm, I see. And, hypothetically, what would the fitting options from Kaedrin's be?
>>3795727Anointed Knight, Dark Lantern, Dragon Warrior, Dragon Slayer, Dread Commando, Elemental Warrior, Elite Commando, Warrior of Darkness, Whirling Dervish, possibly some more.
I do not want to elaborate on them as I don't really know who you want to roleplay as, but if you want to check what they offer, use this website https://nwn2db.com/
At the top, you have the builder menu.
>>3795706Basically whatever you want, really, whatever seems cool or thematic. You can see all the prestige classes at the character creation screen so you can have a look at their prerequisites and what they offer. Broadly, prestige classes fall into three categories - specialists who focus on one specific thing and make it better (and often advance class features like spellcasting or sneak attack), prestige classes that offer unique abilities, and generalists that offer a broader range of advantages. Specialists are classes like Red Wizard (your specialized Wizard becomes even more specialized), Arcane Scholar (you want to cast Missile Storm with every single one of your spell slots) and Weapon Master (spend a fuckton of feats to crit more and harder), 'unique' something like Shadowdancer (Hide in Plain Sight at first level, if you want it you have to take this prestige class) and generalist like Blackguard or Divine Champion - equally attractive to frontliners like Fighters (who get Sneak Attack or passive bonuses) and squishier classes like Rogues and Bards (who get higher Attack Bonus and bonus feats).
>>3795724There's nothing wrong with playing with the PRC on a first playthrough, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it either. Especially if you're a new player since it adds a LOT of options and if you're unfamiliar with character building in the system it might be easier to just play through with the vanilla classes and then install the PRC for a replay.
>>3795706>"big man in armor who kill thing good with big sword"Frenzied Berserker. Best melee prestige class in the game, especially for two-handers, and by a significant margin. You have to be nonlawful but the only prerequisite are feats that every melee character will take anyway and in return you get:
Frenzy, starts at 1/day and gives you an attack bonus and an extra attack per round that stacks with Haste even though it says it shouldn't (they might fix this in the EE);
Supreme Cleave at level 2 (two Cleave attacks instead of one whenever you kill something);
and Enhanced Power Attack at level 5. This makes Power Attack give +5 damage instead of +3 and Improved Power Attack +10 instead of +6, doubled for two-handed weapons, so now your Power Attack is -3 attack for +10 damage and Improved Power Attack is -6 attack for +20. You get so many boosts to your attack that by halfway through the game you can just leave Power Attack on constantly for free damage.
Other good options are Red Dragon Disciple (gives a sizeable bonus to Strength and some other nice benefits, but takes a full 10 levels to do so and requires a level of Bard or Sorcerer_; a cheese build would take Bard instead of Rogue and take both FB and RDD. Weapon Master requires a lot of feats to even take the class but superchargers your crits, but unfortunately a lot of enemies are outright immune to crits especially in the OC and MotB. Blackguard and Divine Champion can be thematic and give a decent power boost, offering bonuses to saves, Blackguard gets Sneak Attack progression and DC gets bonus feats.

i just played 40 hours of nwn1 and grew to hate it and quit at the start of act 3
>mp is good
i don't care i'm not playing mp am i i'm playing a singeplayer rpg.. hopefully 2 is better but unless you get control over at least 2 party members and/or 90% of chests in the game aren't locked and trapped then it will be shit just like 1 where you spend all your time babysitting fucking tomi as he ignores your orders to open a chest and instead runs off to the other side of the map to kill a zombie
>>3797802You can control your whole party in nwn2. Including animal companions and familiars.
2's main campaign is also a lot better than the first game's in my opinion.
Also, you have some control over your party member's AI's in two. It's not like dragon age origins' (or final fantasy xii's) gambit system where you can automate the shit out of their behavior, but you can configure shit like using items, swapping weapons depending on range, etc.
I think there's a mod that add more controls too.
>>3798098oh ok sounds good
>>3797802I have like 1000 hours in NWN1 and haven't played as far as you in the OC or a single second of any persistent world server. For me NWN1 was all about the custom player made modules.
>>3778717 (OP)Which classes are the most fun gameplay/RPwise in this one? I played plenty of CRPGs, but never gave NWN a try.
I'm thinking of rolling a Paladin, but I wonder if I'll manage to maintain a Lawful Good alignment through the entire game.
>>3798201There's a lot of combat, so I would recommend either a strong melee combatant or a direct-damage caster; you can make a controller caster work but it's a lot more effort. Resting is unrestricted at least for the OC so spellcasters have that advantage, but I don't think it's that significant a bonus compared to just how strong melee fighters can get. At the end of the day you get a full party to control so it mostly doesn't matter how underpowered your PC is since for 90% of the gameplay you can just be carried by your party members.
As far as roleplaying, the game uses a fair number of skills in dialogue. Diplomacy is the most useful, followed by Lore, then the other dialogue skills (Bluff and Intimidate) so you probably want at least one of those. More niche skills are sometimes checked too, like Perform and Spellcraft, but not as often. The way the skill system works you don't have to dump levels into a class to get access to dialogue skills, you can just take a single level in a class to get access and then take Able Learner.
Paladin's a good choice, you fight a lot of undead and it fits well with the story; you even get the chance to get a Holy Avenger in a lategame sidequest. You shouldn't have any trouble maintaining your alignment since the game offers a lot of opportunities to gain alignment points, including on the Lawful/Chaotic axis which isn't always the case.

>>3798201You can't RP anything in NWN2, but it's very easy to maintain any good alignment. You'll have to be laughably evil to stay evil, and a complete schizo to stay LN, N, CN neutral.
I would say Warlock is a fun class that scales incredibly well into MotB, but it uses Bluff instead of Diplomacy you can still beat most Diplomacy checks in the OC with buffs and equipment, and Taunt, while useless, has a few funny lines. Or maybe a bard - a non-shit bard is pretty much a better fighter in NWN2.
>>3798427Exactly. I don't even need them to add any new content. Just round out some technicalities.
>>3798436>Or maybe a bard - a non-shit bard is pretty much a better fighter in NWN2.Multiclass them. There is no reason not to.
What's the best class (or class combination) for a hybrid/gish? I just want to slam dunk a fireball on a crowd of fools and then finish whoever's left with a sword.
>>3798525Cleric with the Fire Domain is the easiest way, or even a druid.
Otherwise you'd have to go for a dex+int wizard EK or the sorcerer equivalent.
If you install Kaedrin's pack, your options expand a lot more for arcane magic based gishes.
>>3798525> a fireball on a crowd of fools Fireballs are very weak post DND 3.0, that rarely works. Sleep spell variants can achieve that with coup de grace mechanic, but a lot of stuff is immune to it when it matters
I guess "hideous blow"-focused Warlock can do that but you'll have to wait till "chain blast" and "doom blast" become available to harras crowds. Untill then, "Hideous Blow" + "Powerful strike" with greatsword will squash single enemies just fine.
Another variant is Pure Bard with use magic device - Minor Isaac Missile Storm can be made into wands and spammed no problem with no regard to allies. The first song will cover up the lagging BAB as well as buff the entire party. Also, high UMD lets you use Monk equipment to buff AC further.
There is Eldritch Knight Prestiege class but it only works well in the original campaign - it will have a major power lag after you get all levels as you will have to either go fighter (your psellcasting will get resisted a lot) or spellcaster class (your melee will be useless). Getting Red Dragon Disciple after that and using Tenser's Transformation when you HAVE to melee will help somewhat though.
First time I played the OC + MoTB I used this build.
https://nwn2.fandom.com/wiki/DragonMaster_Negotiator_-_F(12),Brd(1),RDD(10),WM(7)
Its a Fighter Red Dragon Disciple Weapon Master. Very good in combat plus you can do all the dialogue checks.
>>3798825Human + Able Learner + Bard or Rogue is dope as hell.
I think my first time I played Cleric with 5 levels of Warpriest.
Warpriest isn't great, but the class' whole deal really appealed to me back then.
I think I just slapped 10 levels of Doomguide after that for MotB.

>>3799051Dipping is absolute faggotry. Pure classes only.
>>3799063Yeah we get it, you repeat that line every time multiclassing comes up like an NPC. No one cares about your autistic crusade over a mechanic thats been around forever..
>>3799063>Dipping>>3799070>multiclassing
>>3799046The classes don't need to be straight jackets that define your character's life and personality.
How you deal with them is your, and your gaming group's, own prerogative.
In my group, for example, we don't ignore the fluff, but we mostly focus on the broad idea and the core of the concept rather than the specific details (informed by how the mechanics describe them), since those tend to not be setting agnostic anyhow.
Hell a fighter bard rogue Dragon Disciple is already self-explanatory in-fiction considering what a Bard is in D&D 3.5e if you embrace the fluff.
It's a spellcaster with a pint of dragon's blood, it's a little bit of fighter, and a little bit of thief, so taking levels in all of those classes, or other adjacent ones, is a pretty natural extension of the concept.
I don't fully agree with the sentiment that "classes are just kits of mechanics, you can ignore the fluff" since the fluff is almost always broadly related to the mechanics, and also nice and useful to inform what that means for a character, so ignoring it wholesale does rub me the wrong way, but it's still a valid way to play if you want to do it that way, just as is being a fluff absolutist, even if neither way of play appeals to me personally.
>>3799079For me, it depends on the intent of the player. Are they starting from a thematic roleplaying concept, and then choosing the mechanical implementation to fit the concept while staying true to it? Sometimes multiclassing is warranted and necessary to do so. Hell look at Elminsters goofy class split, that was done to represent his history and past.
However, what I find objectionable are players who begin with โx/y/z are mechanically powerful combinations, I will treat classes as a la carte options to be taken to gain features and abilities onlyโ, and then, if even considering such concerns at all, to post hoc rationalize a flimsy roleplaying excuse for an abominable split. This is what 99% of players do, and that is why dipping is cancer.
>>3799043They really overloaded the game with companions, there are so many that there just isn't enough time to give them all proper focus. At minimum you could remove Quara, Casavir, Grobnar, Bishop, make Zhjaeve a keep-only NPC and the story would probably be a lot better. Instead of wasting screen time introducing so many superfluous characters they could focus on developing the strong ones.
>>3799429They had one companion for each base class sans monk and I think barbarian, right?
Monk I get what's with Khelgar, but why not Barbarian?
Was Lorne supposed to be party member too at some point?
>>3799429I don't mind having companions that are just kind of there and don't get proper focus since at least it allows more gameplay options.
Problem is that nwn 2 has some the most unlikeable companions in any rpg I've played. Listening to Qara and Bishop made me want to blow my brains out.
How's doom of icewind dale? I've played some of the author's other modules and they were pretty good.

>>3799763Most likely it'll be similar to NWN1 EE: Modules will be broadly compatible but the enhancements will introduce a few niche bugs that weren't there previously.
If you've ever tried to play older modules on the EE you'll know what I'm talking about. You can play them but sometimes scripts will randomly break or not fire when they're supposed to.
Why arent they showing any gameplay previews or dev videos? NWN 1 enhanced edition had multiple videos put out showing the changes and enhancements they made. Things like graphics, UI scaling, etc. Im kinda worried bros, these arent the same people who did NWN 1.
Aspyr have done decent work with Tomb Raider but they also werent scared of showing off all the enhancments on it.
>>3799937>these arent the same people who did NWN 1And that's a good thing.
>>3799937If they were doing anything significant they would have shown it by now. Its clear that its going to be very barebones and a simple graphical upgrade.
I don't like beamdog but at least the nwn 1 ee had some good upgrades to it and by then they had learned not to add their own bullshit after the bg fiasco.
I can't even notice the difference in the nwn 2 trailers.
>>3800033while its true that Beamdog are cringe and gay, I think they did a good job on the NWN 1 EE. For some inspired reason they decided not to inject it with a bunch of gay shit like they did with BG 1 and 2. I wish they had made their content cringe additions separate dlc, that no one would ever buy. In hindsight I bet they wish they did that too.
>>3778717 (OP)Last time I played I went with Tiefling Paladin which I really liked for the reactivity, but this time I'm thinking of going Bard instead because of that one very memorable section, albeit the sore loser version of the scene is deeply funny too, and picking Tiefling again
MotB not having race reactivity really brought it down a lot for me desu
>>3799766I see.
>>3799905How is that not broken? If its not game breaking, it's not worth mentioning.
>scripts not firingThat sounds dangerously game breaking
>>3800204The only tiefling reactivity I remember is when someone asked if you and Neeshka are married.
>>3800249CANON NEESHKA ROMANCE CONFIRMED
NEESHKICLES, WE NEESHKIDOOING WELL
>>3800249There's a bunch early in the game, in West Harbor, Highcliff, and when you first get to Neverwinter in particular. One of the best conversations in the game is listening to Khelgar being suspicious of Neeshka for being an untrustworthy, thieving hellspawn and then awkwardly justify why he trusts you because you're "one of the good ones". Drow get a lot of early reactivity too, because people keep freaking out when they see you.
>>3800251You can honestly roleplay romancing her over the OC and MotB. She gets a lot of small romantic moments and you canonically reunite ofter MotB if she survived.
My favorite is when she defends MC's dick size in front of a demon in Ammon's hideout.
I was extremely bored when I tried NWN2 out, is it worth it? I got to the city and quit.
>>3800369Act 1 is the weakest part of the game.
>>3800238Exactly how game breaking it can be depends on the module. Could be anything from a plot-critical script not firing to having to manually talk to an NPC rather than have their dialogue initiate automatically.
Like for instance I just replayed Tales of Arterra on the EE and I had to play the entire last chapter without any henchmen because EE broke the script to import them. I was still able to play and finish it but all 3 henchmen just failed to appear where they were supposed to. 99% of the module worked just fine but these are the kind of unpredictable niche bugs that EE introduced.
>>3800454There is a fix for that.

>>3800369It's pretty okay. I don't think the OC ever gets amazing, but it does get better in the later half as things ramp up and the actual plot kicks in and there are some pretty memorable moments.

>>3800454>>3800465As long as its not module breaking, I'm fine.
I just started playing the new NWN for the first time that adds anti aliasing. And while the anti aliasing in the 3d environment looks good for some reason this patch added aliasing to items/icons and it annoys me.
Everything was so smooth before and now its Jaggy, its especially easy to see on the potions but everything else has aliasing now too.
Fix pls
>>3800899Also it made custom portraits have very bad aliasing which is quite distracting
>>3800899I think pic right is what items might originally look like and pic left is caused by the UI mod. The patch might have fucked up the mod somehow. Although I do notice that in the recent patch HD custom portraits get a lot of aliasing now.

Are there custom classes in nwn2, can I make my own? Are the dlc good, besides mask?
>>3801748have you never played a d&d video game? you shouldn't start with nwn2.
>>3801752>you shouldn't start with nwn2.NTA, why not? I think it was the first d&d game I've finished and it was fine.
>>3801752Did. Played all the black isle games. What a thing to ask!
>>3801760>finewhy start with "fine".
>>3801782how many d&d games have "custom classes" bro?
>>3801760Same. I played a fuckton of NWN2 before playing NWN1.
Hell, I think I played TOEE before I played NWN1.
>>3801748>Are there custom classes in nwn2,Google for Kaedrin's class pack. It has tons of classes, feats, spells, etc.
For things that you don't need scripting, you can create new classes and shit by unpacking and repacking .hak (which are like .zips) and editing text files, it's pretty easy actually if you look at existing mods for reference.
The override folder is great, it would be the perfect modding system if it wasn't for the dialog.tlk, classes.2da, and other such files that centralize certain information, meaning that two mods might have their own versions of these files, which in turn means that you'd have to edit the files and merge both versions manually, which is not a complicated affair by any means.
>>3801786you shouldn't start with nwn1 either, retard.
>>3779061Nooo IWD1 has my favorite IE map art! Leave it alone!!
>>3801793What do you believe people should start with it and why?

>>3801873you've never played ruins of myth drannor.

>>3801900if someone has no frame of reference and is asking for advice, they should defer to greater experience. if they won't, and question said advice, then they might as well seek the truth for themselves.
>>3801850Why would playing nwn 1 first be a problem? If anything its one of the easiest dnd games to get into since you only have to control and build 1 char.
A noob can just make a martial character and breeze through the official campaigns.
>>3801974because it isn't good.
How have I never heard of ruins of myth dranor? Iโve heard of the original pool of radiance from the silver/gold box era. Is it any good? I liked ToEE a lot and prefer turn based over RTWP.
>>3802001>How have I never heard of ruins of myth dranorbecause you're an rpglet.
>Is it any good?it made troika games look bug free. it removed windows system files on uninstall and crashed constantly.
>>3801992I like the progression of going from some wet behind the ears welp to a hero who battles giants and dragons. It is one of the few games I replay just to try out classes to see how they feel without getting bogged down in the campaign that the others have. NWN 2 has a nice feature in the Mask that lets you try out high level builds in a lobby which is nice.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygKnfqszdOQ
Does cast buffs like magic weapon on summons actually work in nwn1? The summons stat window doesnt actually show the attack number going up but it does say "Attack increased" under the effects section.
>>3800899Most of the scaling options 1.1 to 1.6 is fucked up in the most recent patch and causes that. You either use 1.0 scaling or go BIG with 1.7 to fix it.
Can anyone remember where tf do you get panthers' pelts in Storm of Zehir? I'm lvl 16 and the only panther I saw was the animal companion of that ranger cohort.
>>3802267>panthers' peltsShit.
I think there's an NPC that sells that stuff.
Is it in the keep from the OC?
>>3801752>>3801783>>3801786Looked her up, she has quite a few prestige classes. I wanted to know if there's a way to make your own classes, toolkit or otherwise. Else kaedra or prc for nwn1 is sufficient.
I just looked up if there's iwd 1 and 2 and bg 1 and 2 for in nwn2. I found iwd on nexus, is there no other way to download it? That's like 150 hours or so do go with, tempting!
>modulesWas researching modules today. Apparently there are far more than 100 good story modules, no wonder people play this game for nearly 30 years.
>>3802317>I wanted to know if there's a way to make your own classes,Yes. You need a tool to extract the .hak files, a tool to edit .tlk files, and something (notepad even) to edit .2da files and you are golden.
There's probably a modding guide somewhere, but I managed to do it just by downloading Kaedrin's mod and using that as a base.
There's also more advanced scripting you can do for abilities and such that you'd use the toolset, or at least the script compiler, for. But I never dabbled in those.
Some relevant info
>https://www.gog.com/forum/neverwinter_nights_series/custom_race_and_class_creation>>3802317>no wonder people play this game for nearly 30 years. There's also a couple of Persistent Worlds (mmo-lite using the multiplayer capabilities of the game) still online and active.
>>3802226Magic Fang works on druid pets, and Magic Weapon/Flame Weapon work on almost any summon because they possess a creature weapon. Fairy dragon is one of the few exceptions - he can't benefit from weapon buffs until level ~14, it's either a bug or a weird balancing decision.
However, if a summon has to choose between multiple attack types, Magic Weapon/Flame Weapon may not work on every attack. If I'm not mistaken, only 30% of panther's attacks can benefit from Flame Weapon, while every pseudodragon's attack benefits from all weapon buffs.
>>3802325>Yes. You need a tool to extract the .hak files, a tool to edit .tlk files, and something (notepad even) to edit .2da files and you are golden.I see. The way I see it, the spells and fears aso are sufficient, esp when installing prc or this Karen pak.
I'll try to do it like you did. Had fun creating my own stuff in bg3, should be standard in such games.
Thanks for the link.
>mmo liteNo, thanks, bro. I want single player only. Have you tried persistent worlds? I dislike mmos, as the progression is extremely slow, not for me.
>>3802330Why? Why should anyone bother?
>>3802343>meWait a second, nwn2 is party based!?
>>3802343>Have you tried persistent worldsOnly the Realms of Trinity way back when in the day during my college days.
It was a lot of fun.
But I get it. I enjoy these games as a primarily single player affair too.
>>3802345How to raise spell dc? Casting attribute, level and gear? If nwn2 is party based, I could make theme based characters.
>>3802270Nah he doesn't have it. He only sells recopies and the other merchants who do sell ingredients don't have it either.
>>3802354>Casting attribute, level and gearYes, also feats and prestige classes, like Red Wizard.
>>3802360Oh, ok. Like pathfinder, right. Come to think of it, kinda salty owlcucks never made a decent pathfinder game after kingmaker.
>>3802326Ah ok. So it is working if they have a creature weapon it just doesnt show up on their character sheet. I was testing on my lvl 1 summon (dire badger). The character sheet shows its AC increasing when I cast mage armor but no attack increase when I cast magic weapon.
You cant really even look at the log to try and tell because there is no detailed breakdown of attack bonuses in it.
I believe you and will assume its working though. I need to buff my summon for my wizard playthrough!
>>3802429I just recently encountered a similiar error online. Some guy played illithid prc and had the same problem. Has to do with natural or creature weapons.
>>3802429>I need to buff my summon for my wizard playthroughWhich module? Summons are incredibly strong at low levels, decent in midgame with enough buffs/debuffs, but borderline useless when you get to epic levels - unless the author gave them custom buffs.
>>3802446Can't you summon wyvern and dragons and higher undead? Do custom modules have level limitations or barely recommendations?
I'm hyped for NWN2 EE. Last time I played the game was... 10 years ago. And I'm still mad because the camera controls were so shit compared to NWN1.
I hope they will fix it. I liked the game. Even the OC campaign. Especially the funny monk dwarf.
>>3802446Im going to try swordflight, I heard it was pretty hard so I think I might need a good summon for a while before I get some good spells and level up.
>>3802450>dragons and higher undeadYou can, but at that point both are useless and a waste of an epic feat.
>Do custom modules have level limitations or barely recommendations?Obviously they have a level cap, normally you can't farm infinite experience.
>>3802462Oh yes, this one is good for a summoner. Your familiar gets a big boost in chapter 3 and your elementals in chapter 4 - enough to stay viable as you get close to level 40. Summoned balor also gets progressively more and more insane stats, but after chapter 3 it suffers from low AC and each cast makes you more evil - however, he's still great against casters and beholders in particular.
>>3802456I dropped the oc campaign after act 3. Don't remember much, weird writing, buggy performance and a lot of orcs.
Why do you like the main campaign?
Looking forward for nwn2ee, too. Will get myself soon nwn 1 and play some modules. Already have some concepts that I want to incorporate in custom classes and gear.

Anyway, there's iwd 1 and 2 and bg 1 and 2 for nwn2, and the whole nwn 1 campaign for bg2. Guess what I'll be playing for one year?
>>3802712DS3 is the only one I somewhat liked. It has a decent combat, and pretty good bossfights on the highest difficulty.
DS1 is pretty boring and basic, and DS2 is such a mess I couldn't keep playing it after a couple of hours.
>>3803020DS2 is the one where the world actually has charm and the story is cool.
Gets a bit messy and dark in the expansion, but that stuff ruled - when you were uncovering various old ruins and learning the azunite history and stuff, that was good.
DS1 was just a demo of engine with placeholder campaign (which had great environments but only afterthoght of a story), I didn't play DS3 besides demo but it takes place in Ehb again so it literally has to be Eh.
I'm checking the prc content for nwn. There are like all Multiverse races there, some have Str + 10, that's op af. No wonder people keep playing it for decades.
Has anyone played nwn in bg2?
>>3803049There are custom campaigns for bg 2?
>>3803048Yep. A slew of content is good for longevity.
Does NWN implement Level Adjustment?
>>3803053Couple of mods. This is the whole game nwn in bg2, between irenicus and tob. Russian ripped poe 1 and 2 assets and made the whole nwn game in bg2
>>3803058As in level scaling? AFAIK it does? I'm really looking forward to misuse the 3.5e system. There are like hundred or more classes for nwn prc and plenty of prestige classes, too. With epic levels, it's even possible to be good at Magic and melee. Tried to make a mage that fouces on illness, poison and decay. Unfortunately not possible. I might mod my own spells, according to tutorials, seems easy af.
For nwn2 there's iwd 1 and 2 and bg1 and 2 as modules. Really looking forward to play (a 20 year old game on a 3k laptop).

>>3803973The catch is you need to be able to cast 3lvl spells and have martial proficiency in order to get your firs lvl of eldritch knight so you need to either go 5 lvl wizard and spend a feat or you need to do dip into a fighter. At any rate, EK fucks only at the very start where casting some buffs that only can be cast on self, like mirror image, shield and stoneskin can make a huge difference. At lvl 15 you run out of EK levels and so you either need to keep going fighter in which case you will lose your magic potential and will end up a fighter that can cast some buffs on himself, like greater stoneskin, tensor transformation and so on, since your offensive spells will have pitiful DC, or you need to keep going arcane in which case the question is why you even stated this in the first place since you could have leveled red wizard or student of candlekeep.
>>3804007>>3804009What's the point when you can get still spell metamagic that only increases spell level by 1 and completely removes somatic element thus eliminating arcane failure? >>3804049Maybe you will have a ring of dex I don't know.

Anyhow, I don't think the toolset or the server software being 32bit matters at all for PWs, since they are not writing binary files (.exe, .dll, etc) that the main .exe has to read or anything of the sort.
I could be wrong, I guess, or maybe they are talking about community made tools or extensions that don't work anymore.

>30$
>modern port
>still no borderless full-screen.
What the fuck.
>>3804036>Maybe it made its way to the nexus?I'll check it out.
>lost in transitionLikely, was around 2007? That's when I uploaded it. It depends on the quality of the top mods, if I can make something that people could like, I'll try my best.
>>3804041Really marginal difference. Wonder how much work they put into it?
>>3804049EK is an prestige class in nwn! Right, not a base class. What's the optimum then? Cleric and then full mage classes incl EK?
>>3804100Optimum for what?
You can really go fighter 20 and with proper gear feats and prebuffing you can just right click on pretty much everything and win.
nwn2 is unbearable because the engine and camera is fucked and the lack of animations is really lame
>>3804089I'm glad they are going to keep working on it after launch.
Are remasters just new paid mods?
>>3804122Does nwn 1 or 2 have difficult battles? Certainly not in the oc campaign. Regarding modules, 8 wouldn't know.
>optimum for whatWell, best possible damage output. Not that it's needed, but I'm curious either way. Unlike pathfinder, where optimum builds are critical.
>>3804370There are like two dragons you fight in OC NWN1
>>3804389I know, I played the game back then. Don't remember him being that strong. AFAIK the elven woman merc hits very hard.
>>3804389They're not that difficult, there's a reason they made the dragon boss in HotU a dracolich - so prepared players couldn't just rush in and burst him down in a round. The toughest battles are the Intellect Devourer in Chapter 1 (most characters will have very few, if any, immunities and if you don't protect yourself it can chain-stun you over and over as well as jumping to different hosts) and the final gauntlet (lots of high-level spellcasters).
>>3804419Terrasque when? Bg2 has awesome mage battles, bg3 has verticality, bursting environment and legendary actions. I feel that battle dynamics could be a lot better.
>>3804099>Really marginal difference. Wonder how much work they put into it?none
>>3804499Understandable, wish them a nice day and don't call them scum, as they earned a 100% price increase, by putting literally no work into it.
>>3804517Ironically, they put a lot of work into controller support. It's really well done.
>>3804099>Really marginal difference. Wonder how much work they put into it?Most of the work going into this clearly was about porting it to the Nintendo Switch console.
Controller support and console port is the biggest change.
>>3804389there are at least two if not more in the chapter 3 alone and you also fight another two right before morag
>>3804537Is it an improvement on kb+m if you're playing with the kotor type camera? I remember it being kind of ass and awkward in the base game.
>>3804567Some people were saying that camera modes got much better, the other people were saying they didn't. I don't know which side is shitposting, but I saw a bit of MKB gameplay in different modes on a stream and it seems to be playable.
>>3804582I guess i'll pirate it and see, seems very minimal and low-effort for a game i've already bought twice.
>>3804083Memory limit for sure. Current NWN2 can't get past 200-300 areas per server because of it. All of which players have to dl a significant portion of any time a change is made, but that's another issue that kills any hope for a PW scene.
>>3804720If that's all it is, just enabling the PAE flag in the binary should fix it right?
I wonder if they even had the game's source code to begin with or if they are having to work some ASM or de-compilation magic.
>>3804036Not on nexus. Nexus is pretty empty, compared to bg3.
>>3804582I think some systems it might run better if you aren't using mods.
Camera feels exactly the same to me, but I never had a problem with the original camera either. Atleast if you play it classic free cam style.
To me it feels pretty much the same as the previous version I had on gog, so im glad I pirated this to try it out before buying it.
>>3805929>I never had a problem with the original camera eitherMe neither, honestly. My main issue was rubber banding, but I always played it using the wasd keys with the camera behind the character just fine.
That said, controller support is pretty cool.
>>3804040>>3804041Fuckin' BIG ui for my XBOX
Did anyone that had it on GoG have technical problems with it before? I played it like three or four years ago no problem, Windows 10. Were the people complaining about it on Steam?
