Why hasn't this game been remade?

Because I'm using my reality altering powers to prevent it.

What's with the obsession with remakes?
Why remake a game when you can make a better game instead?

I'm guessing you're not familiar with the Ys series.
A significant portion of the series is essentially remakes.

I'm familiar with it
I enjoyed the gameplay of Oath in Felghana. The final boss fight with Demonicus was very memorable. But it could have been a better game if it didn't inherit so much crap due to being a remake of Wanderers from Ys.
Celceta wasn't terrible but it was worse than Dawn of Ys and also worse than the other party Ys games.

I'm not completely opposed to remakes. In very rare cases there are games that are brilliant in almost every way, then a remake can fix the gameplay and be one of the best games ever (although even then it won't erase the original, fans of the game will play both). But nowadays it feels like people want every game to be remade and I don't get it.

Every other Ys game has a version released in America, and we're missing a little piece of Adol's story.

I played it recently just for the sake of completionism. I wouldn't say it was a BAD experience but it was deeply unengaging experience. Was mostly just kind of boring. Dull characters, art, and music. Nothing really stands out. the story is barely existent even in the superficial function sense. The color pallet is boring. And I don't like not really having a sense of what anything actually looks like. Maybe this isn't a problem if you had the manual but I remember older Ys games had those cool character portraits and stuff. Here even supposedly important characters are almost indistinguishable from NPCs.

The explanation they gave was that every time they make a new game in the series, the staff wants to spend that dev time making a new game rather than remaking Ys V, which seems reasonable to me.
